- EMFK, on 11/13/2009, -3/+44Now if they would just convict Ruth Madoff and their children...we'd be getting somewhere.
- nahsrocketeer75, on 11/13/2009, -0/+40It's about time. There had to have been many, many people involved in this and they all belong in prison for a long, long time.
- GorfTron, on 11/14/2009, -0/+29"I'll make a GUI interface using Visual Basic and see if we can make a massive ponzi scheme."
- morninglorii, on 11/14/2009, -1/+25// lol i hope we dont get arrested for this one bro
while(investors.haveMoreAccounts() && madoffsAccount.tooLow()){
investorAccount = investors.getNextAccount()
bank.transferAllFunds(investorAccount, madoffsAccount);
} - LetsGoToClass, on 11/14/2009, -1/+18It's like the Coen Bros. wrote this guy's awful ***** life.
- inactive, on 11/14/2009, -1/+17Now for the rest of his staff!!! Get the pitchforks I'll bring the torches
- Barackalypse, on 11/14/2009, -1/+16I always wonder why these people are stupid enough to sit around and wait for the Feds to come get them. The moment Madoff went down everyone that ever had knowledge of what was really going on should have closed their bank accounts and disappeared to some Caribbean island.
- PeppermintPig, on 11/14/2009, -6/+20Drop in the bucket compared to the stuff that the politicians get away with via government.
- krisrm, on 11/14/2009, -0/+12Dugg for meaningful variable/method names. Also, I'm pretty sure they didn't finish the "tooLow" method; it always returns true :p .
- travdiggsit, on 11/14/2009, -0/+9Don't forget to press charges against the SEC for failing to monitor.
- wissler, on 11/14/2009, -0/+8So much for the Extreme Programming view that you shouldn't second-guess your customer's requirements.
- digjam, on 11/14/2009, -1/+9REQUIREMENTS WERE WRONG!
- GorfTron, on 11/14/2009, -0/+8And this is what he gets when he ***** a million people up the ass.
- Stoyanov, on 11/14/2009, -0/+6"The computer codes and random algorithms they allegedly designed served to deceive investors and regulators and concealed Madoff’s crimes."
Computer codes? Random algorithms? What? - inactive, on 11/14/2009, -1/+7I wonder what their base annual salaries were?
- DulcetTone, on 11/14/2009, -0/+6When asked what crimes their programming entailed, the coders replied:
NO COMMENTS! - Idonteven, on 11/14/2009, -1/+6Their bonuses could have paid the salaries of ten programmers!
- brandnewx, on 11/14/2009, -1/+6Yes, they should close their only one bank account that has $1,000 in it. Then they should ride on a bus to Mexico or Canada. In the new world, they can buy a hunting rifle and live in the forest for the rest of their lives.
They can run. But extradition will get them back to jail at home. - Barackalypse, on 11/14/2009, -0/+5"O’Hara withdrew nearly $1 million; Perez withdrew about $289,000."
And that is just the money they had invested with Madoff. Extradition only works if you can find them. Given how many people are wanted by the Government for far more serious crimes, its entirely possible they could live the rest of their lives without incident. Hell, there are still Nazi war criminals they haven't been able to track down, and those guys were pretty much pariahs after the war. - mkw408, on 11/14/2009, -0/+5The programmers bonuses were pretty crappy considering what they were involved in. I hope their salaries were on par with the illegality of their work.
- DrNemo, on 11/14/2009, -1/+5Government regulators failed? WE NEED MORE GOVERNMENT REGULATORS!
- djk4mal, on 11/14/2009, -0/+4Thats about £38,000; a little above average wage for one decent programmer in London.
- topapito, on 11/14/2009, -0/+4Random algorithms, yes, random bits of computer code that had algorithms with tubes tied to them that helped Maddox deceive random numbers of people. Comon Stoy, get with the program, hehe.
- MacBookForMe, on 11/14/2009, -0/+3I still admire his work...why they never jail all people in Gov agencies who were directly responsible and authorised for inspcting financial fraud...and have done NOTHING
- mkw408, on 11/14/2009, -0/+3...and they they got all their money back.
- blackinthmiddle, on 11/14/2009, -0/+3Gotta agree with Barackalypse. If you're going to do 30 long in prison anyway, why not try and run? You *know* you're guilty as sin and they're going to arrest you eventually. Might as well go down swinging. If they're crazy enough to pull of a $65 billion dollar ponzi scheme, you would have thought they would have at least said, "Hey, if ***** hit's the fan, you're going to find me in (insert country with no extradition laws here)".
- Stoyanov, on 11/14/2009, -0/+2Thanks for the tips, Barackalypse. See you on some beach in Île à Vache.
- tmonster1, on 11/14/2009, -0/+2Those dudes should have left the country long time ago
"That's not using your dipstick Jimmy!" - evenflowdave, on 11/14/2009, -1/+2yep... i wouldn't be surprised if there were gov officials who were stake-holders and walking free...
- blumarlin1, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1They must have gotten caught up in the ponzi scheme as well...
/s - deadguysleeps, on 11/14/2009, -3/+4all auditing software should be open source
- brandnewx, on 11/14/2009, -0/+130 years. No way.
- topapito, on 11/14/2009, -1/+2I dugg you up, but come on, we all know it will never be. How can auditing software be open code and "screw" the people at the same time?
- gkiltz, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1Obviously, they are trying to go after the real facilitators. The people who knew the "nuts and bolts" of the what and how. Let's see how far they really get.
- blackinthmiddle, on 11/14/2009, -0/+1No, we just need them to pay attention.
- rrwest, on 11/14/2009, -0/+0I suspect that this is what most Wall Street billionaires did one Bernie was caught.
- SquidLips, on 11/14/2009, -0/+0
What a whitewash.
Ever see the French Connection and what court system did to the chemist while the rest of the guys skated? - blumarlin1, on 11/14/2009, -1/+1Bernie hurt more people than Anton Chigurh ever did
