- chaos7, on 04/03/2009, -1/+38digg, fix the comment preferences. THEY DO NOT SAVE AFTER CLOSING BROWSER. been broken for over a week. digg support does not help me. i'm not the only one with the problem.
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -5/+32It's stupid. It's not revolutionary, it's more browser-hijack add-on portal-style spam.
- DivisibleByZero, on 04/03/2009, -4/+23I already disabled the bar.
Would kind of like it if digg surfaced a short URL link on the main page though.
The way it works now:
If you have the bar enabled, digg stories link to their shortened URL version
If you have it disabled, they link to their full URL.
I like this, but would like a small link to the side that goes to the short URL, just so I can copy/paste more quickly. Still want the main story link to go to the full URL though, just because some part of my brain likes to judge a story's quality based on the length and readability of its URL. - b3and1p, on 04/03/2009, -3/+15This has less to do with the digg bar and more about some of the tech behind it guys.
- BedPost, on 04/04/2009, -1/+10The Digg of 2004 would be ashamed.
- Shady77, on 04/04/2009, -1/+9The comment threshold setting randomly resets in the middle of a browser session. I've even had it reset during a save to set it back the way it was. You wouldn't think such a simple bug would totally stump the geniuses and rocket scientists who've given us the lawdy-dawdy fancy pants IDDB whatever the ***** that thing is JUST FIX THE GODDAMN PREFERENCES ALREADY, JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!
Oh, now I think I'm having a coronary. Thanks Digg, I think you've killed me instead of FIXING THE DAMN BUG!!!!!
asotuhnekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk - covertbadger, on 04/04/2009, -0/+8Dugg up - I thought it was just me. I have to reset it 3 or 4 times a day. Digg, stop mucking about with me-too url shorteners and Trent ***** Reznor spam, and fix the basics.
- chrissinchok, on 04/04/2009, -1/+8I feel like no one in this comment thread actually read the article. It's not actually about the DiggBar, it's about the technology that powers the DiggBar and many other parts of Digg. And it's pretty damn cool.
- BugMeNot2, on 04/04/2009, -0/+7***** Reddit and their time traveling.
- bwonder, on 04/03/2009, -1/+8Nothing better than a day full of stories about digg on digg.
- Stalinist, on 04/03/2009, -1/+8Ditto
- MtheoryX, on 04/04/2009, -0/+6ARE YOU READY TO UNLEASH THE MOTHER EFFING FURY OF CAPS LOCK?!?!
- chaos7, on 04/05/2009, -0/+6http://digg.com/odd_stuff/digg_s_Comment_Preferenc ...
- Yage2006, on 04/04/2009, -2/+8The very first thing I did today on digg was go into my viewing settings and disable that damn diggbar. Don't need something else taking up a inch of the screen .
I don't even see the point or need for it.
They should have made that an opt in instead of on by default.
Not to hate on digg but the diggbar is just lame.
And If I was not able to disable it I would go elsewhere for my tech/science news. - ar0ne, on 04/03/2009, -0/+5ok Kanye
- Randki, on 04/03/2009, -4/+9Its freaking annoying, but not a surprise. The management at Digg have become incredibly arrogant lately.
- ZombieSociety, on 04/03/2009, -2/+7It's a good thing so many of us clearly give a *****.
- ryan83189, on 04/04/2009, -1/+6I thought it was just me. Say, anybody else not loading people's avatars and just getting their name overlapped over their name on and off for a few days as well? It's not nearly as annoying as having to set preferences to view -10 comments every session, but it drove me bonkers because I thought there was a way to do it and I wanted to do it too.
- llamabox, on 04/04/2009, -0/+4WHY IS EVERYONE YELLING?
- zephc, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4So, now they're thinking with portals?
- volksport, on 04/03/2009, -2/+6I don't think that word means what you think it means
- relevant, on 04/03/2009, -6/+9!LOUD NOISES!
- chaos7, on 04/04/2009, -0/+2i too saw names overlap the other day. i think it was just a bug.
- Barackalypse, on 04/04/2009, -2/+4I'm digging you up because I never actually figured they made it possible to disable it, but thanks to your comment I went to my preferences and got rid of that vertical waste of space once and for all!
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -5/+7Lately? Kevin Rose and crew are just pissy that their little site isn't worth anything. It's sort of like watching Altavista go down the tubes.
- TheFuzzyOne, on 04/04/2009, -1/+2It feels like its kinda slow, but that could just be my perception, or the page that I'm visiting.
- GothAlice, on 04/03/2009, -1/+2I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT
- Yage2006, on 04/04/2009, -1/+2It can be disabled at least.
- vivahabandhan, on 09/26/2009, -0/+1DiggBar is just wonderful and vibrant!! ..Thx for posting
http://www.vivahabandhan.com/ - Tacobake, on 04/11/2009, -0/+1If you are asking for feedback, I think the bar is an OK idea. I will not use it but I would not consider myself a hardcore user, I come here mostly to search the links. I am sure that features can be added/ removed to make it a worthwhile piece of software if it is not already.
- richid, on 04/04/2009, -1/+2I'm glad someone actually RTFA...
- Kylde, on 04/04/2009, -2/+3pity they can't focus on making the darn site just WORK, load times for the "upcoming" section are a nightmare, blatant spammers are either ignored or allowed to re-register to submit the SAME URLS (iptables, URL blocking, simple keyword filters, c'mon Digg), I personally find the new bar irrelevant, I still send the true site URL to contacts who don't use Digg, but then again I find the "recommended" feature useless too, as it makes NO attempt to weed out duplicates. And what's with marking deleted user's posts as "inactive", but LEAVING their posts up there? So all the porn and malware installers are still posted, but the users are deleted? Those users don't care, they're ecstatic, their posts are still there for the unwary to stumble on
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -10/+9Reddit frontpaged this story 2 days ago.
- WilliamAdama, on 04/03/2009, -24/+20FFS STOP SPAMMING DIGG WITH YOUR STUPID ***** DIGG BAR, INCASE YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED... WE DON'T LIKE IT! NOW ***** OFF!
caps lock off. - BBarash, on 04/03/2009, -9/+5Great to see the IDDB cluster working well - Great job on the DiggBar!
- Blade9932, on 04/03/2009, -11/+1Nice, now we don't have to fill the comments section with mirrors and re-links. Now about the 4chaners...
- alaa1999, on 04/03/2009, -14/+4WTF is wrong with u people? its a nice and helpful toolbar, its not even intalled on your browser as an Add-on its simple and if u dont like, just DISABLE it !! I personally find it great! i spent the last hour clickin on Random and getting some nice diggs, reaal nice ones also i like the Related button, the sharing on fb and other websites. its just awesome. u just have to resist any kind of change because of ur **** tightly locked mind.
