- Topher06, on 01/01/2009, -0/+57My boss disposes of web pages after he prints and reads them.
- doiveo, on 12/31/2008, -1/+45I don't know ... http://disposablewebpage.com/turn?page=NhHC21PWHi
- inactive, on 12/31/2008, -2/+35Dugg because it is awesome! BenRT you are obviously not in web development.
- Defiant001, on 01/01/2009, -0/+19We need recyclable web pages! Say no to trash!
- ArrenV, on 12/31/2008, -0/+15I see could this as being quite useful, however could easily be taken advantage of
- meekrob, on 12/31/2008, -2/+15I disagree. Personally I create little temporary pages all the time. I do this using SSH and VIM. But someone else might want to use this ...
and besides it's perfect for Phishes. - handruin, on 01/01/2009, -0/+11Regardless of the controversial drama related to people 'gaming' the digg system, I wasn't aware of this disposable website and found it interesting. I dugg it because it was an interesting tool to add to the belt next time I need something like this.
- AFelsinger, on 01/01/2009, -0/+7While I understand your concern, I do not think it is warranted.
The reason my popular ratio is high is because I do not submit very much content -- 2 to 4 submissions a day, generally. My job involves spending long hours on the computer, so I often discover content that I know would do well with the digg audience. But ask anyone who knows me... if I've submitted enough in a day already, I will pass on a good story for someone else to submit. To me it is most important to get the interesting and important stories out there.
Frankly, I do not think that a high popular percentage is evidence of gaming the system. I only submit my absolute favorite stories on topics that interest me and I think others would enjoy as well. I would have no problem with digg setting a limit to how many submissions a person can make in a day. In fact, I think that would drastically improve the quality of the content on the front page.
Considering that I often spend 10 hours a day on the computer, I do not think 170 diggs a day is unrealistic. I'm sorry if you think otherwise. I've been a news junkie since I was a teenager. I thrive on knowing the latest news and digg is one of the many ways I try to keep up with it. - OutpostNetwork, on 01/01/2009, -0/+7I think this is a great idea, especially for things like family reunions or parties. I think visually it is much better than a ton of emails flying all around. What if someone doesn't reply to all or the email gets filtered as spam. Email is much less reliable as a means of communication. I can see giving this a try.
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -0/+6If a search engine grabs a "temporary" page, it can live forever.
- kizmar, on 01/01/2009, -3/+9Why not find another site for your information if the rating system irritates you so much? Stop with the "I have a head ache but won't take anything for it" mentality.
- sjl127, on 01/01/2009, -0/+5Tree Huggers will say that electrons are not being properly recycled.
- Swipecat, on 01/01/2009, -0/+5jan 1st Digg page:
http://disposablewebpage.com/turn?page=FJaHeqBwSj
key: editorkey - TheAttacks, on 01/01/2009, -0/+5Useful service, kind of. Like the first comment on the blog post states, any free hosting service can provide just what the described service is offering.
- Sonixunite, on 01/01/2009, -1/+6He clearly explained the uses of it.
- neFariou5, on 01/02/2009, -0/+5Woof
- halo3d, on 01/01/2009, -0/+4like that ? http://disposablewebpage.com/turn?page=AUMHaNOlPn
- debauch, on 01/01/2009, -1/+5who cares? it it were a resubmission that would be pretty dickish; this is just awesome content that i for one may not have found on my own. thank you to the submitter (i'm too lazy to scroll up and see who it is). i think something like this would be pretty useful.
- Linkin4, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3I could see this being useful, but the example they give could be done much easier with an email and 'reply all'
- GreenChaos, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3For all those pointless classes where you need to make a useless webpage.
- ThePerkins, on 01/01/2009, -0/+3Disposable society.
- mikinurbook, on 01/01/2009, -1/+3Alright, alright. Yes, there are people on here who jockey the system...that's all we've heard about for a solid week.
Jeez, this topic is nearing the Scientology craze last year. Enough already. You're making it hard to care anymore. - inactive, on 01/01/2009, -13/+15Nearly 20,000 diggs in 115 days. 170 diggs per day? Riiiiiiight..... buried.
Also, look at his "popular" ratio at 49%
This guy definitely knows how to "game the Digg system...
C'mon Digg sheep keep eating through the ***** of "uber users".
Some people are like "superhumans" with their ability to detect "super interesting content".
Maybe we should replace google with suggestions sent by the powerdiggers? - pathouston22, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2Digg needs a delete feature.
There, I told you more. - livefromheaven, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2Create web page, delete web page when finished?
- manova, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2If people only knew how to use "reply all." I don't know how many email chains have gotten broken up because one person just does not know how to hit that button, even when you clearly state in the email to use reply all.
Of course, there is the opposite problem when you accidentally hit reply all. - whuddafugger, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2one-liner:
echo "<html><body>[enter web content here]</body></html>" > index.html; sleep [enter amount of time you want the page to exist in SECONDS]; rm index.html
done. - 2of8, on 01/01/2009, -0/+2I use Google Docs for the same purpose, it works very well. And, if I remember correctly, you can work on documents (if collaboration is needed) without signing up for an account. (but for only one of the services. I think the spreadsheet app you need to be signed in for)
- wtfhaxorx, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1a party the 1st of January?!?! lol, that was such a bad example.
- Wiini, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1Alright... that actually is pretty cool.
- Catchpen, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1I'ts just a page with a tinymce plugin. They need to figure out how to support php to make it worth anything.
- 0ldmankdude, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1Really? Tell me more...
- inactive, on 01/13/2009, -0/+1I didn't read the article, but can think of an easy way to do it with PHP.
- jgeek, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1Secure notes: http://sn.linkstore.ru One time readable text notes
- sensibledriver, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1Buried as SPAM.
- inactive, on 01/01/2009, -2/+2I just write up a page if i ever need one...
- pathouston22, on 01/01/2009, -2/+2Just take solace in the fact knowing that he obviously has no life outside of Digg.
- chansinua, on 01/03/2009, -0/+0Interesting concept but I think one should have his own domain name as his visit card in the Internet!
- inactive, on 01/01/2009, -2/+2I still have high hopes for Digg and I trust that they CAN change some things around and that is why I am sticking around pointing facts.
Also, this is everybody's business to actually know what is behind the news and not just be plain "consumers" and that includes you.
Think before you Digg! - Fhajad034, on 01/05/2009, -0/+0Oh you have no idea...
- ocpmture, on 01/31/2009, -0/+0Well this way you don't need to buy hosting.
- NunoPCruz, on 01/01/2009, -1/+1I must say that this sounds like a good concept but should follow other directions.
"With this service, you don’t have to worry if all your friends use Facebook, Friendster, or whatever social networking service to organize and plan an event. Everything is on a single web page, accessible by all."
What about email? What about groups? Why are people running away from the core applications and services when they still deliver a much better platform for a wide number of tasks?
And if you want this sort of stuff in a web page with ease of setup why not use a blog?
This could be developed for events and their promotion rather than inner organization within it's core. But still it has nice features. - monomon, on 01/02/2009, -1/+0Nice Info...bRo..
www.limasahabat.com - pathouston22, on 01/01/2009, -1/+0
- Obelia, on 01/02/2009, -4/+1It's not Digg-worthy. How many of us can't create a counter and a self-deleting page with very few lines of code anyway?
(If you all Digg me down I'll know this place has officially gone to the dogs.) - BenRT, on 12/31/2008, -43/+14Buried for being utterly useless.
