- wizardfingers, on 11/03/2009, -4/+27Nice, Chrome just gets better and better.
- angrytortilla, on 11/04/2009, -1/+15Extension support is included in the beta 4 build.
- Tubal22, on 11/04/2009, -0/+12FYI, the beta version sometimes eats up resources. I often get 70% CPU usage and 300MB+ memory usage when I've got ~5 tabs idle. Don't know if it's a leak or what. The only fix is to close chrome and restart.
This was in 4.0.223.11 and 4.0.223.16. - iandoroteo, on 11/04/2009, -0/+10thank you for posting this Fellow Opera user :)
- bigbadbobbyb, on 11/03/2009, -4/+12Cool, but why not just hurry up and get extensions pushed out the door for the average user so I can just keep using xmarks.
- rabidjester, on 11/04/2009, -0/+8You must be great fun at parties.
- scotchw, on 11/04/2009, -4/+11Google Chrome beta = Foxmarks 2006
- uprise78, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6The mac version works great man. I've been using it for a few months exclusively.

- madeingermany, on 11/04/2009, -1/+6No, but here is something interesting

Duncan3: "Fire hazard." - Hexxagonal, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4Yeah having bookmarks is one thing... syncing history is what really matters. I can't even remember how many times that has come to help me.
- Hexxagonal, on 11/04/2009, -3/+7weave does not count. it's not built into the browser by default.
also, in terms of built in features... it's still opera you have to catch up to... opera sync was introduced in 2007. - ayeroxor, on 11/04/2009, -1/+4Can google chrome sync with google bookmarks yet?
- Hexxagonal, on 11/04/2009, -2/+5market share only counts if you want to compare your epeen to someone else's epeen. As long as the browser makers are profiting enough to keep their product going, who cares what has a higher market share?
- Telexen, on 11/04/2009, -1/+4When does it get an advertisement blocker that works?
I decided a couple weeks ago I wanted to go a month using just Chrome to see how it is. Apparently the stuff they were doing in beta and dev builds at the time made AdSweep not work.
There goes that idea. - secrity, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3FTA: "this is only enabled in the Windows version of Chrome"
- Wegg, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3I have been using the XMarks beta for Chrome for a little while now. Works great.
- DeathToaster, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Wait a minute, I used this a few weeks ago.
- FKnight, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Am I the only Chrome user on Earth that doesn't have commercials and ads popping up all over my screen? I'm sure there are ads on some pages I visit, but I can't recall when the last time was that I actually /noticed/ them.
- JasonCox, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2I'll still wait for Xmarks to release a plugin, I really don't want to have to deal with two syncing services.
- kidcodea, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2check ya history
- eljitto, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2I use it on my netbook because the lack of a search bar makes it very convinient for a small screen size. HOwever, with more the 5 tabs open, it works EXTREMELY slow
- RobotBuddha, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Have you tried the adblock+ port? I have both adsweep and it installed, and after double checking I can say that one of them at least is blocking ads for me. Chromium linux build, updated this morning.
- RobotBuddha, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Agreed. It was lagging a bit behind the linux build for a bit in terms of performance for me. But it's working great now, and I've been using it as my main browser for my macbook about two weeks with no problem.
- Mapekz, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2@bigbadbobbyb
1) Get developer version of Chrome.
2) Go to beta.xmarks.com and log in
3) Download Alpha version of Xmarks for Chrome.
It doesn't do password syncing, but the bookmarks seem flawless for me between Firefox and Chrome.
Only other thing holding me back from using Chrome instead of Firefox is ad block plus. At least the bookmarks are good to go, though. - uprise78, on 11/04/2009, -1/+3Extensions actually work really, really well already. I use both a Mac and a PC at work and have already made a few extensions that work cross platform and everything.
For anyone interested I made a clone of Gmarks for Chrome. It allows you to use Google Bookmarks to store your bookmarks and has type-ahead autocompletion for finding them. Super easy Mac and PC way to sync bookmarks and find them fast.

Just preass Home-Home (home twice) to pull up the search box. - Munk3y, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Wow, dugg down for that?? Guess the fanboys got their panties in a twist, lol.
- CraigHwk, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2There's already one in beta testing.
- kidcodea, on 11/04/2009, -3/+4mac?
dunno it. is it some kind of linux distro? bsd? - madeingermany, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Is that different from what was announced in August?

http://groups.google.com/group/chromium-dev/browse ... - Hexxagonal, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1oh yeah? i only have one computer on me right now, so i can't check that in this chrome beta.
now all the browser makers need to get together and create 1 sync technology that everyone can use so it doesn't matter what browser i'm on. - counterplex, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1@Hexxagonal,
If they do that, it'll be imperative that they make it an open protocol and allow hosting personal servers similar to what Mozilla's Weave allows. - jeriqo, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1ok thanks
- Beatmiser, on 11/04/2009, -1/+2This is getting me closer to giving up my .me account.
- pbs11, on 11/25/2009, -0/+1a cheap version of Safari... http://mymmoshop.com/buy/world-of-warcraft-us/gold ...
- Bloodburn, on 11/04/2009, -1/+2I just installed beta 4.0 and it rocks!
- martalli, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Thanks! I have chromium for ubuntu installed and this worked just fine. I wonder how long I will still be using firefox...
- seks03, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Okay, they got me. Im switching now
- Hexxagonal, on 11/04/2009, -0/+1Only for people concerned about privacy. As long as they don't keep track of HTTPS sites... it doesn't matter. There are browsers that already do this like Opera with link and I think Flock did it too(?). Worst case you can always turn off the option if you personally don't want that piece of information -or- switch to private browsing/temporarily turn off the syncing. If browsers in particular could get a second form of revenue from selling our browsing history I probably wouldn't think twice or care that company x knows I visited digg to comment on a google chrome story.
- RobotBuddha, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1>Any 2 out of those 3 would be enough.
It has an adblock plus port, and flash block. Not sure about adblock element hider though. - mesomorphicman, on 11/06/2009, -0/+0I stopped using Chrome because of that... it would crash weekly on my HP Media Windows XP. Always used Firefox, but also use Safari now.
- uprise78, on 11/04/2009, -1/+1http://www.prime31.com/chrome/gmark.crx
Just press Home-Home (home twice) to pull up the search box and start typing. - inactive, on 11/04/2009, -1/+1Oooooh! The cloud! Awesome!
- Mr_Lyle, on 11/04/2009, -1/+1Maybe it's just me, but after using adblock plus for so long, I find it next to impossible to surf the web without it. It's so littered with ads that it's just disgusting. And some real ***** horrible ones too.
Firefox has some issues which need to be fixed but until Chrome, or any other browser, gets a combination of Adblock Plus, Flash Block and Adblock Element Hider, I don't see myself switching anytime soon. Any 2 out of those 3 would be enough. - freezerburn666, on 11/04/2009, -1/+1this has been around for years and years, msn browser comes to mind... chrome is new so this is cool though... as long as they keep it quick and slick.
- uhbeta, on 11/04/2009, -2/+1Chrome is made by Google, who is an advertising company. Don't expect an adblock any time soon.
- Memnochxx, on 11/05/2009, -3/+2Yeah, where does Google get off not waiting until Chrome had every feature imaginable before releasing it?
- darkzealot89, on 11/04/2009, -5/+3Doesn't Count? Of course weave counts! How closed minded are you? Weave may just be a plugin at the moment, but it slated to be built into firefox for 4.0.
I'll tell you what doesn't count, Opera has less market share than Firefox AND Chrome. So Opera really isn't a big player here with only ~2% share. - darkzealot89, on 11/04/2009, -5/+2By your thinking, then any market share we take away from IE means *nothing*. No it means a lot, it is the demographic of the internet, and the browser that is in the lead dictates a lot of standards, even if it does break standards.
If it was about profit, then Chrome and Firefox would cost users money. But they don't so that's a poor argument to make.
The roll out of Weave and Google Chomre sync has been more influential than the existence of Opera's similar tool. Why? Because Opera has such a small user base, it cannot and will not lead the way.
Come back when you are ready to have an intellectual debate and not act like a 13 year old "internet tough guy", you lost all credibility when you said "epeen" and what have you. -
