Finally, Mobile Game Development For Everyone?
gigaom.com — It takes advanced skills to develop even a simple mobile game - targeting hundreds of handsets is nearly impossible. Stealth startup Mo ’Minis is working on a GUI for mobile game programming, allowing anyone to create games from scratch. Once a game is ready, the Mo’Minis Studio ports it to fit a wide range of handsets in real time.

- meruru, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3I'll believe it when I see it. They don't even have a functional website at the moment.
How will they handle the near endless variety of input systems, file systems, languages, et al on the various mobile devices. Besides that I've yet to come across a visual programming GUI that really allows "anyone to create games from scratch". The only way that could possibly work is if scope is really narrow, like if they had pre-set games already made and their idea of "making your own games" is swapping sprites and a level editor.- guyro, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1I don't know what they have in store, but I'm envisioning something like J2ME meets Visual Basic. Maybe you won't make the next Super Mario Bros, but then again the majority of simple-yet-addictive mobile games should be within reach.
- hadar318, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0First of all, I would like to thank "meruru" for acknowledging the challenges we work hard on solving are, in fact, very difficult. His skepticism is also easily understood due to the relative large number of players in the mobile market who have claiming to supply full-fledged development environments, while turning out to be a personalization toolkit.
Still, it is untrue that there have never been any quality "visual programming" GUIs, only that none have successfully made the transition to the mobile environment.
At present, we supply our studio to a selected few as part of an Alpha to make sure the product will be of very high quality upon its planned public release (early next year). I am highly confident that our product will surprise the skeptics, as it is already fully functioning and well beyond sprite swapping and level editing (and it is perfectly capable of creating the next Super Mario Bros…).

As said by Tzach, we are an unstoppable force of GUI making GODS.
I've already created 987 Super Mario Bros using the game development GUI as well as Halo 4, GTA 89 and Barbie Horse Racing.
We hope to release soon so that you may make games using a creature editor that we fear will consist mostly of penis monsters.
