- Oakes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Why are these the only two extremes? I love digg, but I think some vertical control would benefit it, just as I think it would benefit Wikipedia. I don't want to go back to the old closed-down CNN/Britannica model, but the guy's got a point. Too much "crowd dominance" leads to an appeal to the lowest common denominator, with all the immaturity and spelling mistakes that go along with it.
- RBotros, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9u left the whole idea and all u cared about is the grammar? how childish is that? that's obviously not what the author inteded to discuss.
- RBotros, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It was burried: http://digg.com/search?area=all&age=7&sort=new&search-buried=1&search=digg+flaw&submit=Search
too bad , i really like the post.
People burried it, just because it's against Digg. They didn't think about the philosophy u've shown, they just thought : "what he wants is impossible, let me burry him .. because i dun agree to see what he wants on digg" - trit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7...is a great mp3 compression tool? True, but I don't see how that relates to this specifically. I must admit that your reasoning skills are far beyond my comprehension.
I'm with Oakes and the author... Digg could be even better with just a bit of code to tailor what news bubbles up on each users' pages to their own tastes instead of this Hot or Not stuff. They have the social community in place to power it.
I wonder what percentage of the user-base here it takes clicking on a button in order for something to qualify as popular? Then I wonder what percentage of that population only reads the stuff that lots of other users have already dugg. Anyone got any statistics handy or are we all just gonna comment on how we choose to compress and store our digital audio? Right then. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If it's been hidden from view, which I doubt, then it would point to self-interest-driven censorship which is a far bigger problem than the wisdom of crowd (or lack thereof)
But I doubt it. It must be there but I'mnot able to find it via Search All.
Marc - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Folks,
Can you do a search on digg for "digg flaw" to see if this has been hidden from user's view?
It's probably still there but I just can't seem to find it using Search All with the terms: digg flaw
Can you check?
Cheers,
Marc - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4OK, can we unburry it?
I think the digg staff has something to do with it. I don't believe digg users did this on their own.
I can't prove it but I can blog about it with razor sharp thoughts and grammar that's bad enough to get it noticed.
Pffft. It's on par with what I expected of digg. Nice one Mr. Digg whoever you are. ;-)
Marc - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4..and your comment ISN'T clammoring for attention?? Lame comment.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You have poor manners, no one's complaining.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, you are.
Marc - Niall8r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Interesting experiment
- thehip1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just because you Dugg the article, it doesn't mean you agree with it...right?
- politech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"you're no match for the power of the schwartz!"
Bob Dobbs and the Church of Slack would disagree with you ... if they ever got around to it! - politech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Remember the old saying,
None of us are as dumb as ALL of us. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 It honestly reminds me of "Fahrenheit 451" but instead of burning books you bury opinions!
Wise up!
It's time to realize that you're no match for the power of the schwartz!
All in good fun
Cheers,
Marc - Fixe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Digg is like "fashion" news :)
I like it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This is lame, in his blog update he claims his story was buried by digg staff, meanwhile its on the front page (for the topic at least)
- kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7digg doesn't proport to be "wise" news, just news that is popular. reported as lame. isn't that ironic? i hope this was your blog.
- webreakdigg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0In a similar fashion, the "Netscape bans Digg" story got buried with 101 diggs just no reason... What a bummer. Digg is exercising Censorship!
- cope, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i love how he writes this, and then submits it to digg for attention...
the poor blog is starving for attention..
*marked buried **spam** * - greenagain, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1***** weak.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1If it's been hidden from view, which I doubt, then it would point to self-interest-driven censorship which is a far bigger problem than the wisdom of crowd (or lack thereof)
But I doubt it. It must be there but I'm not able to find it via Search All.
Marc - TimmyGUNZ, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1If you want wise news, go to CNN.com
- Haroldx, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Lame.
- Wenz, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Interestingly enough, the author of this story has poor grammar. Perhaps the writer needs to look at his own flaws first.
What is Digg?
