- jaypatrick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This is an incredible software package, highly recommend giving it a shot to anyone who runs an online community.R
- ajma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I haven't used any of the PHP ones, but CS is also aiming to be a platform (at least it seems like it to me) so people can develop from it. They devs at Telligent have been very helpful to people who have wanted to do custom tweaks and there's a wiki that people contribute to on this topic.
Some people also have no experience with PHP (me) and really comfortable with .NET (me), so this system suits me well.
I didn't feel like i was being accused, I just wanted to point out that it wasn't an employee who posted it. - wooties, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Total Digg. I'm new to asp.net and programming in general, but i've been running a single blog style on CS 1.1 and I love it!! (and yes, i'm a new registered user to Digg. i've been lurking for quite some time though) this Digg got me going for some reason)

Agreed. Scotterdamn asked if there was an online tutorial, which is where I posted the link to. Just to be clear, I do work for Telligent and on CS. To be honest, I was very hesitant to make the comment, but figured I was answering a very specific question. - jdvmi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3CS 2.0 is a night and day improvement over CS 1.1 and I even liked 1.1. For an example of CS 2.0 check out http://hive.net
- swatermasysk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hi Scotterdamn,
You can find a set of beta documentation at http://docs.communityserver.org and can expect to see some new quick start videos in the coming days on the main CS site. - ajma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I posted this on digg and I don't work for Telligent. Look at my forum post: http://communityserver.com/forums/thread/511219.aspx I don't have a "development team" avatar under my name.
I just like their stuff. - JHawk24821, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I couldn't have said it better jaypatrick! Digg+
- ronk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wordpress is way better than the previous version as a blogging tool. I am hoping that this is better and easier to use than wordpress.
- edmicman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This looks cool, but isn't .NET hosting waaaaaaay more of a PITA than PHP hosting? There's a billion PHP/MySQL CMS's out there. It's still be fun to try out, though, I just can't think of where I'd use it.
- heartless_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Some people just hate when other people are nice. They have gone through the McDonalds drive-thru one too many times.
- ScooterDMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1community server is clunky. i have been trying run one for english department and i cant get over the headaches. is there some sort of online tutorial?
- amigiac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This is a content management system rather than a server.
However it's pretty simple when compared to most Linux servers for an end-user. - dotnetwebdev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah I have to say that 1.1 and earlier implementations were a nightmare at best, even to an experienced .net and ui programmer. I hope this version is much improved, and I surely hope the skinning feature is fully implemented and working now. I also hope you guys (Telligent) push it out to WebHost4Life so I can update my sh!t.
- Vaelan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Any options for the Linux user?
- poondoggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Comparing WordPress to CS isn't really a good idea as one is a Blogging tool and the other is a CMS. Sure you can get plugins for WordPress to do a lot of the functionality that you get in CS, but the two are really different animals.
- sirkirby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've been using CS since v1.0, primarily for blogging, and I really feel this platform has a lot of potential. There are sill things left to be desired on the blogging side, but that is the beauty of oss, just add it yourself.
- mesohorny, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1No, but putting it up on digg and and having company people watch comments and respond sounds like promotion to me.
Your not going to tell me that Telligent employees happen to find that the product they just upgraded is now on digg all by themselves ;-) - mesohorny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0@ajma
I am not accusing you. But I am sure if some product "X" was posted on Digg, and in the comments are company responses as it hit the homepage, it wouldn't look kosher.
Again, I am not opposed to it, but there should be a section for it.
Otherwise Digg will turn into a large product promotion site and since it's not moderated it will really
be a problem. - jdvmi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Answering a question is product promotion???
- milkcow, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0asp? yuck! U/UUUU
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0
I assume since you asshats are always telling us how cross-platform .NET is that this runs on Linux as well right????????? because of mono??????
Nope....sorry please don't ever bring up mono again as somewho making .NET cross-platform. - jfox00, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Open Source - maybe. Free - definitely not. Wheres my free, OS version of this?
- mesohorny, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Another funny thing is that if you go through the diggers list, it seems a lot of members started on "January 24, 2006". Wow that's a coincidence, right ;-)
- mesohorny, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0@swatermasysk
I didn't realize Digg was a product promotion site. It's not that I'm against it, but their should be a warning that this was product advertisement.
This means now all companies will start using Digg to advertise their new products without warning, while sales people monitor the comments.

What is Digg?
