- SanderSpies, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Indeed, the code in the article is ugly. We are trying to move away from the table horror stuff, it should be about the content and not about the markup.
- Shadow01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for the update jessejoe.com!
- sirsteveh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can't wait for
border-radius-topleft: 1em;
to work correctly. The Mozilla team, in their infinite wisdom, implemented this standard [http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-background/#the-border-radius], but decided the official naming convention wasn't good enough for them. What you have to do for Mozilla is:
-moz-border-radius-topleft: 1em;
Which isn't valid. Naturally, IE doesn't support border radii at all. :/ - bpapa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agreed that using JS makes it a bit of a turn off, for me at least. In my mind instead of doing tricks we should work towards making the standards better and more widely supported. Not gonna digg it down, just not something I'm really into.
- Shadow01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Initial thougths... I don't know. The JS goes against the grain of simply pure XHTML and CSS, yet with styles turned off, the page breaks nicely. Also, the additional B tags... seems to add a bit more code, but true, better than using SPAN tags.
It does work. Looks good. Is it the best way? Got me thinking... Still thinking... so for that it deserves a digg. - Shadow01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0True, on the standards statement.
I've looked some more at the JS code - some of the functions seemed to be designed to take measurements of the containers on the fly and adjust sizes accordingly, something to which I'll openly admit to considering myself when stumped trying to do pure XHTML / CSS. So I will not judge Alessandro on that!
Still looking... Sure hope others take a look also and give thoughtful comments.
