- Scheissenegger, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41Though if you want more finished layouts, take a look at one of these sites:

http://www.opensourcetemplates.org/
http://www.opendesigns.org/
http://www.openwebdesign.org/
http://www.sixshootermedia.com/free-templates/ - Battlecry, on 10/11/2007, -2/+25Wow. That's a pretty ugly site.
- Daniel591992, on 10/11/2007, -6/+23I'll admit that this is my site, but my free designs are availiable at:
http://dodesign.us
Hope someone finds them useful. The collection is small, but I'm just starting :) - xerus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16That comment made my dumb.
- Daniel591992, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Here are some good places to start:

Coding Tutorials:
http://www.w3schools.com/ - Battlecry, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Sorry, but it is somewhat of an eyesore. Blue on teal with red navigational boxes is just a bad idea. I'd be happy to offer suggestions if that's what you're looking for.
I would change the background color to something less obtrusive. White or grey. Blue text on a blue background is hard to read. I'd change one or the other. You have wasted space on your navigation menu, and I would ditch the red boxes. Also, it's pretty common practice now to not have your website take up the whole screen, but have a little buffer on either side (like digg here). It makes things a little easier to read and it looks better when you have a small update that may only take up one or two lines.
It's good that you're learning CSS. If you don't want to start from scratch, there's a lot of free templates out there that you can modify to suit your needs. - Kickersny, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11No, that is pretty ugly. Try a different color scheme, layout, and get some graphic designers to help you out.
- SlvrEagle23, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9@pigfister:
Was the whole latter 2/3 of your comment a signature? I can't tell, and if so, wow :P
"In a world of signatures and people shouting 'First!' in comment threads,
Digg refuses all of these things."
SlvrEagle23, 2007 - Battlecry, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I understand wanting to keep the red/blue thing, but you should go about it a different way. Maybe adding a header image that fades from red to blue at the top of the page, or maybe a subtle background.
We'll probably be dugg down any minute here if we keep hijacking the thread.
Good luck. - m3mn0n, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6You should still learn CSS.
Being a copy+paste whore is so very, very wrong. - Battlecry, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6One more thing, when you post images to your website, you should make actual thumbnails and then link to the larger picture instead of changing the aspect ratio using html. If you do that, the images won't be all squished and look funny.
- Lick, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9This is lame: copy from interesting resources, add some advertisements, post on Digg and profit...
http://www.google.com/search?q=css+boxes - DCB360, on 04/11/2008, -3/+6I dugg the last story and I will digg this one as well.
I was planning on learning about web designing today, so this was perfect timing. - zammit, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Dugg down - there is no "quick" css solution... unless you know it like the back of your hand and this site is obviously geared towards css newbies.
sure you can copy/paste.... but when you start adding content and you don't know what you're doing it starts to get time consuming. and if you DO know what you're doing... well you all know how debugging goes... - netsnake24, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2More design - less code!
And... it's done the modern way =) - keymastr, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4what's with you asshats with signatures or stupid tag lines? get rid of it
- ryanspahn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2What i was expecting some mind blowing information.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5This is just spam! Those layouts are so easy and you can find many of them, and better, by doing a simple google search.
- yahoofrom, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2you are superlazy
- loydall, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1http://www.developdesign.co.uk/design/a_css_layout_from_scratch.aspx
OK - This is my site but I think this is relevant here. - munikho, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1My god, is this guy sponsored by google maybe???
- svenjick, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The heights are fixed manually so dugg down!
- rabidjade, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5Someone with CSS experience probably wouldn't be looking at a web site like that anyways. Elitist comments always get me.
- Daniel591992, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2@pigfister
w3c schools taught me most of what I know. Great tutorials that make sense. - loydall, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1A fixed width layout with 3 columns - each of which extend down to the footer regardless of how much content they each contain AND the footer aligns to the bottom of the page if the content doesn't push it below the visible page AND we dont use javascript AND it's, of course, cross-browser and XHTML compliant... I don't know if I've ever seen noe that actually works properly.
I dont like the examples posted here - as mentioned they use a fixed height for the body div which is going to cause you problems... - netsnake24, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I would like to see the internet without css. OMG! And what I really would like to see is your website...
- homesqua, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4think i just threw up in my mouth a little bit
- Playgear, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Okay, this plainly sucks!
Go here for better CSS tips: www.csszengarden.com =) - broughcut, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3It's not bad for a first site, nothing that can't be easily fixed. Very good use of CSS rollovers and hidden spans on the menu buttons.
I'd guess this was copy pasted over -- instead of putting each link in a container div, consider using an unordered list. Not vital, you could leave this for the next project.
Had you not used inline styles for the content it would have been easier to adjust your layout.
This may be handy for choosing the color scheme:
http://www.genopal.com/online.php - netsnake24, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1I see u like maths...
- netsnake24, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1That comment made me laugh :)
- netsnake24, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1U can't believe it, huh?
- tribality, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1nice little site (wish I thought of it), but where is the elusive fixed, 3 column?
- lewisjones, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4thanks for the links, needed some help getting a site started :)
- HoGiHung, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Another lame story makes the front page. There have been so many more useful CSS stories. Some have made it to the front and some haven't. Like another digger said, just google CSS and you can find better resources.
Ho... - fate3, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2i just got a domain a couple weeks ago but have been super busy with work. this is awesome cuz otherwise i was going to have to relearn css which would have sucked.
dugg! - rabidjade, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2The red blue thing goes with the theme of the web site since we deal with emergency lighting issues. I will probably change the cell backgrounds to a lighter color, not white but maybe a very light blue. I can change the text color too.

What is Digg?
The Digg Toolbar for Firefox lets you Digg, submit content, and keep track of Digg even when you're not on the Digg site. Download the official
