- jdelator, on 04/24/2008, -1/+16no way a programming story made it to the front page!
- Grimdotdotdot, on 04/24/2008, -0/+6At the way cool British kids type 'arse'.
- inactive, on 04/24/2008, -1/+6Great article. I like the way IBM staffers find time for stuff like this.
btw the download isn't working at the moment (for me anyway). Did anyone manage to grab the zip file?
Mirror plzkthnxbye? - dtele, on 04/24/2008, -1/+6That is a really concise article that I wish i had read before I learnt to generate RSS using PHP the hard way.
- TheLD, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4Nope
- DeathfireD, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4ya, I got it fine.
- MacParrot, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3ummm...so what? Obviously enough people enjoy PHP easy tutorials/tricks/hints/tips enough to digg them to the front page. You don't HAVE to read it or comment.
- doyoulikeworms, on 04/24/2008, -2/+5I clicked on this story hoping to find instructions on how to build a Customizable RSS Feed Alligator :(
- Huskyr, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3The page loads pretty slow for me. You would say that IBM's $10000 web servers could handle the digg effect..
- AICkieran, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3I love Python and Django but this comment makes absolutely no sense.
PHP is a language, Django is a framework, you cannot compare the 2, try comparing CakePHP or any of the other PHP frameworks to Django. - acidandspatter, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3If you think so, okay, however PHP is easy to read for beginners because of the relatively 'plain english' syntax
- Condemned, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Go away.
- MacParrot, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1You are so reported. Enjoy making your next diggspam account
- YodaJones, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2Damn, IBM has been publishing some cool stuff lately, or at least making it more widely known that they have published it. I had more or less written IBM off. Nice work, keep it up.
- conmulligan, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Where's the fun in that?
- conmulligan, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Heh, Digg behaves like reddit for once
- vidal, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1At http://www.ScriptGeni.com you can buy aggregator scripts, very cool!
- conmulligan, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Maybe you were better off; scanning through that code it looks a little inefficient. I wouldn't want to add many feeds with it...
Still though, a nice tutorial. - sfrench, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1It's definitely not great code feature wise or style wise. Doing an cursory examination, it doesn't appear that it is respecting any kind of RSS fetch throttling, and it's not retaining old feed data or trying to merge old results with new results. And if anyone downloads this and runs it.... make sure to add a reasonable timeout for the CURL call.
- dotups, on 11/18/2008, -0/+0STOP THE LINK SPAM! You already dropped one of your links above on 04/24/2008. Sheesh...
- dotups, on 11/18/2008, -0/+0Ok Vidal, this is obviously link spam but I will comment anyway. Simple layout is visually appealing, BUT no Seo. Urls are not SEF. Native save job feature (my jobs) present but is not fuctional. Recent searches feature does not work. Very limited results are returned from each job source. There are other job feed aggregators that cost much less (under $100 us) and are open source, making customization much easier. Script reminds me of one of those old west buildings with a false front. Perfect example of somone trying to take advantage of ignorant buyers for his own gain.
- mitch37, on 04/24/2008, -4/+32 years ago Digg was filled with great programming articles. Now it's a PHP 101 twice a week...
- BevansDesign, on 04/24/2008, -3/+1I've been using SimplePie for a few months now. Seems to work pretty well.
