j/k - DiRadical, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Why not.
Java and C# are almost the same.
Which is very strange because they were both developed independently (according to Don Box ;-) )
XAML is the way to go. AJAX still relies on the technology of a decade ago (HTTP, HTML and java script) - damber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4
or you could try the official ASP.NET framework for AJAX type interactivity... Atlas: http://atlas.asp.net/default.aspx?tabid=47 - drawkbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4C# and Java are both great and essentially the same. C# was called a "logical progression" or a copy. If you are going enterprise and want to make money, Java and C# help you bounce platforms easily.

- pkulak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Here's a good quote:
"It sounds great. Write code in C#, or Java, or ... and it all just works, right? We all know that isn't the case. A developer will try something and get: JavaScript error: line 2304. (However,) the developer isn't meant to know about the JS [JavaScript] piece. He can't debug it well as even if he goes to line 2304 it is gobbledygook that the framework spit out." - drawkbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It was just released at the end of May, give it some time.
- pigdart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1C) None of The Above
- CaveDog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why post an article about an article?
- Odwalla, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3And we all know old technology is the suck. Let's get rid of the internet, telephones, television, radio, AC electricity distribution, the refrigerator, internal combustion engines, and keyboards while we're at it.
- kmarius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, it will take a long time before you see that on the first page. "Script" must be used by millions of pages
- pkulak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Once I really got familiar with JavaScript, I really began to like it. I use C# for the server side stuff, but enjoy the JavaScript (with Prototype, of course) programming more. Moving EVERYTHING into C# would be a step back for me, I think.
- macko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This isn't even a comparison. Script#, which is very very cool, is only a SPARE TIME project by one engineer who happens to work at Microsoft. It's possible Microsoft could eventually add Script# into the Atlas framework, but I don't believe it's under that umbrella yet.
- daxianjin, on 01/09/2008, -0/+0If you're defied by AJAX and want to have better experience, then you may want to try AJAX Webshop because it features IDE and visualization and allows beginners to develop Rich Web applications quickly. Let's look at some of its features:
Based on standard component library it allows Ajax IDE in the pattern of rapid application development (RAD)
Integrated development and management tools are available. Easy-to-use visual Unified Modeling Language and visual IDE; complete component and object-oriented development pattern
Rich Web component library
Troubleshooting IntelliSense support, code editing support, project release and deployment support.
Java, PHP, C#, VB support
Compatible with IE, Firefox
Best Wishes,
Guys - bmharris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Most systems I've been able to work on benefit more from keeping an AJAX framework as seperate from their framework as possible, which neither of these do. Trying to integrate the two has always been a lot easier for me when you can limit the crossover. Just my 2cents.
- ncannasse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's also haXe ( http://haxe.org )
- ChanKaiShi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1C# and Java almost the same? What you've been drinking? First of all Java is not only language but also a platfrom unlike C# which is just a language amongst many you can use to develop and compile for .NET framework. It's not ony language semantics is different but the entire architecture is different as well. There is no easy cross where you write Java one day and next day write c# for .NET and did not even notice switching.
- cybergrue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Guys check out: ZK - Ajax but no JavaScript
sourceforge page http://sourceforge.net/projects/zk1/
homepage http://zk1.sourceforge.net/
demo page http://www.potix.com/zkdemo/userguide/ - fatdog789, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Um....Java fanatic? I use C#, kid. My point was that the two languages are targeted at different segments of the market, and hence that the two tools have little overlap. If you use a MS-based server, you will be using C# and it's tool because it integrates better; otherwise, you're almost definitely going to use the Google/Java tool because C# doesn't run on non-MS systems.
- Waylander1970, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I tried googling for the script# package and it filters the #, pretty hard to find. A C# lib for ajax sounds like something I could use, if only they would give it a search engine friendly name then people might find it!
- gekkokid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1how is that a comparison?
- tybris, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Errr...all I see is Microsoft advertisements (with some text for filling).
- sgtpinky, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I would say the Digg formula pays more attention to the rate of change of votes...
if (dVotes/dt >= 42 && author.equalTo("kevinrose")) {
article.toFrontPageImmediately();
} else {
article.toDeepDarkDiggArchive();
}
Ah, pseudo code is so fun... :P - jawngee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Someone finally says something intelligent.
- ComputerGuru, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I wish I knew how they worked...
- posure, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Looks like either fatdog hasn't done his research or he's one of the Java fanatics that refuses to acknowledge any other languages. But like the others said, Java and C# are pretty much identical. Most of their objects even have the same names.
- Dotnetsky, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1public static void DoggityDigg(this);
- ojk007, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4front page on 35?
whats up with diggs algorithm
Still s not a bad story - fatdog789, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1It's not really fair to make a comparison like this, seeing as how one tool is Java-based and the other tool is C#-based.
- tactless, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1Sure it is - they're both awful :)
Prototype & Rails are the way to go.
What is Digg?
