No, I'm pretty sure that the average "free electron" will always be willing to put their talent to use at another company (who are usually willing to pay more for it). But like the writer said, "free electrons" come in to variants: Junior and Senior. Some where in transitioning from Junior to Senior the "free electron" realizes that any company attempting to beat him down into a "Jerry" doesn't deserve his presence.... that might be the definition of "primadonna" in your world, but in mine, that follows the rule of never working for idiots who have become managers. No wonder companies like to hire "young". But then... middle managment, by definition, will always be just average. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm sure with enough work you can grind down any "free electron" into a "Jerry." Hey, it's been known to happen. It's a gift to be a "free electron," and a priviledge to remain a one.
