- OfNumbers, on 05/28/2009, -1/+8I challenge everyone who diggs this to provide an example of how they use this posts content. Please also direct a link to your own Wordpress and briefly mention why you need these CMS enabling plugins.
- InorganicMatter, on 05/28/2009, -3/+10Alternatively, you could just use a real CMS if the job calls for one instead of trying to hack WordPress to do the job.
- badtiki, on 05/28/2009, -3/+9Or you can save yourself a ton of work and just install Drupal.
- darkhero, on 05/28/2009, -1/+5Most of these features are built in the Drupal.
- badtiki, on 05/28/2009, -1/+3I build all my sites in Drupal. Its extremly stable, very customizable and great SEO properties, google certainly loves my sites. Ive built from informational to ecommerce sites in Drupal and each time I am not let down.
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2I used to use Joomla quite a bit until I got more into the blogging side of things, where Joomla fell short by a longshot. Wordpress is a CMS for bloggers, who can power it up with more CMS features if they want it.
- jemka, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2wow. I'm not sure if this is a joke or serious. either way it's hilarious.
- MedicSean37, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2Wordpress is awesome! I use it for my community blog. But it's not "The Best", It's "The Best" for it's purpose, which is serious blogging with useful features. Drupal is by far superior in many aspects for advance websites, but it currently falls short in many area, including ease of use.
If someone could build a "CCK" and a "Views" module for Wordpress, that would be game changing for Wordpress. It would enter a whole new level and would knock drupal down a bit. Imagine the power of Drupal with the ease of Wordpress. - addzero, on 05/28/2009, -1/+3I agree... although it's not -just- install Drupal. (It takes some work to learn. They are working on the usability and default setups now.) it is extremely flexible... But the flexibility can be bad if you to build something without understanding the drupal way. The core install is light. Then some of the main modules like cck and views let you build, say lists of pages, users or doohickeys in whatever order you want, or set them as blocks, at the side of certain pages, turn on revisions to keep old versions of pages. perhaps later add in ubercart to add a store, that meshes with the social features... turn your articles into products, so they can buy a related pdf or something... allow users to rate/favorite articles or products or other users... Drupal is powerful, it's getting better all the time as I'm sure Wordpress is too. Although, Drupal's focus out of the box, is being a cms.
- krisrm, on 05/28/2009, -1/+3Ok, CMS battle to the death: I'm for Joomla! (though the exclamation point is admittedly a bit overboard...), what does the rest of Digg say?
- addzero, on 05/28/2009, -1/+3Now really, all 40+ are exceptional at making Wordpress a cms? Wordpressers, which one(s) do you use and why? Which ones are garbage/less useful?
- tristanoneil, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1I think Expression Engine is pretty powerful, it is extremely flexible and version 2.0 looks pretty slick. http://expressionengine.com/ee2_sneak_preview/
- Daniel591992, on 05/28/2009, -2/+3What about Get Custom Field Values? That plugin can do magic!
- sethu470, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1I love Wordpress
- DrDevin, on 05/28/2009, -1/+2I kept thinking, already in core, in core, views, cck, ubercart.
I personally use choose each CMS based on what I need to accomplish. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses. - mohtasham, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1Why not use Django and its great admin system to develop a customized blogging application?
Please, don't tell me not everyone is a programmer. Because, this is in the programming section and everything in it should be related to programming. I wouldn't have written this comment, if it was sent on the software section. - annjay, on 05/27/2009, -2/+3Few of them are amazing. I really don't know that there are too many plugins available to get the wordpress working as CMS.
- Kersheh, on 05/28/2009, -1/+2...***** Meat Sandwich Enabling?
- badtiki, on 05/30/2009, -0/+1Thats what FCK Editor and Roles are used for, give them simple tools for what they just need to do.
- LanceUppercut, on 05/28/2009, -1/+2we'll see :) fully baked in granular permissions if required, mvc framework..OO...in context editing. drupal 6 might get there...but I doubt it.
- Samwel, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1webbychat
- MedicSean37, on 05/28/2009, -1/+2I use nearly half of those plugins for my community website.
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -1/+2or keep to the subject at hand instead of pushing CMS engines no one has ever heard of
- Oddish, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1And spend a couple of weeks with every client, teaching them how to use it?
- benoythapa, on 05/28/2009, -0/+1cool share! gonna help a lot
- LanceUppercut, on 05/28/2009, -1/+1or you can just throw in the towel and use concrete5. That ***** is the real deal.
- ariGme, on 05/28/2009, -3/+3Drupal I'm not as big of a fan, we use Joomla for a core on a ton of our stuff....but we don't mess around with plugins we have programmers.
- captainfandango, on 06/30/2009, -0/+0My top 40 would include the linkbuilding plugin from IBL Builder, its getting me quite a few decent one way backlinks for my blog. Its on their homepage at http://www.iblbuilder.com
- buckmajor, on 06/10/2009, -0/+0My journey in 'Wordpress' is getting better and better.
Come to think of it, Wordpress is like a digsaw puzzle but not in a complicated or technical way. With wordpress plugins, it allows you to customize your own fitting and expectations. - ToonSnaps, on 05/28/2009, -0/+0Wordpress is a CMS these just enhance it's capabilities.
- huston55, on 05/28/2009, -0/+0Even though my company specializes in TYPO3 for enterprise level CMS projects, Wordpress is very appropriate for many requirements. This is a great listing of plugins.
- AskJamesHolmes, on 06/05/2009, -0/+0#wpplugins - I am constantly amazed by the number of powerful and useful plug ins available to transform your Word Press blog into whatever you need it to be. This is a great list
- ShadowXOR, on 05/28/2009, -5/+4Drupal sucks. By the way I'm not endorsing WordPress, it seems good for blogging but I would still get a "real" CMS rather than dealing with this stuff. However I don't think Drupal is the answer.
