- monkeywaffles, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Uh.. just how in the hell is it "tedious" to put adsense on your wordpress blog? Cripes it takes like 2 seconds. Do you really bloody need 17 options?
- Otto, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5>>>"how about you figure one out or STFU?"
Why should he have to figure one out? He's not the one trying to make money off a website.
Your site, your hosting costs, your problem. I shouldn't be obligated to view ads just to support your site. If my blocking ads shuts you down, tough.
That said, I do not block Google Adsense, because it's unobtrusive enough to not bother me. Occasionally, it even comes up with a link that looks interesting or relevant enough for me to click on. - yunus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6Buried for promoting the use of Word Press
- misconstrued, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3What do you suggest as an alternative to Word Press?
(serious question) - marcz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Putting ads inbetween content and hoping to get accidental clicks is not a good thing.
- kurttrail, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3FTW!
- FTLJohnson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I imagine Tony the tiger saying... "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's GRATE!"
http://img.alibaba.com/photo/50388326/Steel_Grates.jpg - Otto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The default installation uses somewhere between 10-15 database queries per hit. That's fairly low by comparison to others.
- marcz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2What alternative do you recommend?
No one needs a bloody plugin for a simple template or widget editing job! - kurttrail, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1There are plenty of free blogging sites.
- misconstrued, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My point is simply I don't have a blog. Not that I need one ;)
- TheLD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Buried for already being said millions of times

http://www.best-adsense.com/
with a little spen of money of course.... sorry not for free... - thailand1972, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Only douchebags like needless CPU-sucking web apps.
- monkeywaffles, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Uh? What does it matter if you block them or not if you never make a habit of clicking on them anyway? Adsense is pay per click, impressions do not matter at all. Viewing the ad makes nobody money. So, if you aren't going to click, why bother subjecting yourself to viewing it, when it isn't helping anyone?
The business model works, but this is digg fer christ's sake. Get savvy on how to use teh intarweb. - misconstrued, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Very helpful article. Now I just need a blog...
- Otto, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Sometimes these plugins make it easier not only to put the code into the page, but to alternate its location for separate pages, to reconfigure for different purposes, and to add tracking for systems like Google Analytics. Although I agree that the majority can be done with simple theme editing, there is a legitimate use for some of these plugins.
- Raiku, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Make your own... like me.
- scriptolog, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Just a note about Adsense Beautifier, there´s no controversy about placing images next to adsense ads, it´s, actually, forbidden in the manner the plugin does it
http://adsense.blogspot.com/2006/12/ad-and-image-placement-policy.html - mconnors, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Too bad its completely useless. If adblockers block the ads- then why even bother. I run a site that serves up free photos. http://www.morguefile.com, thanks to ad blockers and adsense revenue collapse the site will most likely have to go subscription or just shut down. Get ready for paying for content, adsense is becoming obsolete.
- single7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0For example, intelliAnts xooArticles. http://www.xooarticles.com, but it's not freeware :(
- idhindsight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Nice ad, schmuck.
- schoate09, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3Buried for wordpress.
- pbgswd, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Wordpress & Drupal are great for folks who dont want or need to fiddle, and yes, caching is a must - but who has time for endless layers of abstraction in code when you want to do something simple but non standard. Blog software is great but it. is. not. for. everybody.
- kingkilr, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2You are an ass hole? How do you expect websites to make money if there aren't ads. I'm sure you have a dumb ass answer like, "They need to find a new business model if the old one doesn't work", how about you figure one out or STFU? Want to pay to use digg?
- thailand1972, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Word Press is a danger to all servers. I had WP installed on one of my servers - suddenly I get clusters of high CPU usage. I take the WP website off the server, and CPU levels get back to normal. The WP website was only getting about 100 visitors a day...I have other sites getting 1000+ visitors a day and the CPU levels remain low. I think the responsible thing for WP to do is have cacheing as part of the release version - the uncached version uses too many database calls.
- Otto, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Blocked for being a douchebag.
- Birdoftruth, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1nice
- ian13, on 10/10/2007, -7/+31 plugin to block them all: Adblock Plus.
- mconnors, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Whats the point if adblockers block the ads? I run http://www.morguefile.com and my revenue drops every month. The site will most likely go subscription or shut down in the near future. There is going to be a lot less free content on the web thanks to adsense becoming obsolete.
- Keyframe3D, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Like it or not, many blogs survive "thanks" to Google AdSense
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+0This is grate!
