- adidos, on 03/12/2009, -0/+20Since when is SquirrelMail Ajax-based?
- my8086, on 03/12/2009, -0/+12Buried for inaccurate title. List is riddled with non-PHP and non-AJAX solutions.
- FireSlash, on 03/12/2009, -0/+8Dugg for Zimbra.
- my8086, on 03/12/2009, -0/+7I was going to reply to you that Horde isn't AJAX-based, but now I see others like SquirrelMail on there that aren't AJAX-based either. I do like Horde too, though not as much as GMail's interface.
- nkassi, on 03/12/2009, -0/+5We just moved from SquirellMail to Zimbra. Zimbra is just much more feature full.
- waleedo, on 03/12/2009, -0/+5i will def implement this in my new site
- kwasmosis, on 03/12/2009, -1/+5I like Horde the best and it wasn't mentioned, boo.
- se7en11, on 03/12/2009, -1/+4With Google offering Gmail for your domains is there really any reason to use any of these?
- microtrash, on 03/12/2009, -0/+2never
- amasiancrasian, on 03/12/2009, -0/+2Not to be a partypooper (since I have Zimbra Network Edition), but the web interface and provisioning utilities for Zimbra are based on J2EE and Linux shell scripts. Zimbra is a fantastic email server if you are looking to host your own and you don't want Google prying on your secrets. Zimbra runs as its own user and process, while PHP saddles on top of the Web server.
- chadsmith729, on 03/12/2009, -0/+2That was going to be my comment exactly. Squierrel has never heard of AJAX. Hopefully in the next release (TBD) it will have SOME AJAXness.
- Dailydose4me, on 03/12/2009, -1/+3Good ones. Havent heard of any of them yet.
- chadsmith729, on 03/12/2009, -0/+2Really? Wow, no offense man but I've heard of all but like 2. Roundcube ... and Squierral mail is the most popular.
- jcaino, on 03/12/2009, -1/+2dugg for @mail.
- kwasmosis, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1Little bit pathetic, but it made me laugh.
- LiberalsSuckAss, on 03/12/2009, -1/+2I've used all of these at one point, with the exception of Zimbra.
From a non-techie's viewpoint, we've found Afterlogic to be by far the best one for stability, support, and most of all ease of use. Some of our customers don't even understand the concept of a local mail client, and even they are able to understand how to use Afterlogic. Plus, it's rock solid. A great, great program.
I do want to check out Zimbra now. It looks pretty nice.
Roundcube has a long way to go as far as stability and features are concerned.
The rest are simply also-rans.
And please - Squirrelmail? Seriously? - chadsmith729, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1Roundcube is my favorite out of that list. Very easy to install and extremely efficient.
- alefox, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1own custom non google based web client???
- findhostcoupons, on 03/22/2009, -0/+1Very helpful information! Thanks guys!
- CircleFusion, on 03/12/2009, -0/+1The person who submitted the article to digg screwed up the title.
Should be "10 AJAX-based & PHP WebMail Clients For a Great User Experience"
Even so, it appears that there are some entries that are not AJAX or PHP. - losoonair, on 04/03/2009, -0/+0i use roundcube and it was great one!
- 08STI, on 03/12/2009, -2/+2I can give you ten reasons why everyone hates these dumb 10 lists.
- hunterhdolan, on 07/04/2009, -0/+0Who Cares If it is AJAX or not. Why does it matter.
- lmpromo, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0There's a new one out there now called Tuxedo and it's based on Roundcube. It looks fantastic. http://www.tuxedowebmail.com
