- Rohhob, on 02/08/2008, -54/+1455Guy with camera: I heard that all Obama supporters don't know anything about politics and only support a personality, so I'm going to film this negro boy holding an Obama sign to perpetuate that stereotype.
Kid: (Intelligent political discourse)
Guy with camera: Oh *****. - Minarchian, on 02/08/2008, -29/+1229That's the kind of supporter every candidate needs and hopes they have.
Fully aware of the candidates positions and strengths.
While I don't agree with government subsidy of just about anything, I respect those who can give a clear and coherent argument for it.
Kudos to this guy for doing his research :) - TheDHC, on 02/08/2008, -12/+710i like how the interviewer kept pushing him with tough questions, this guy was on fire. dugg so more people can see this
- Spectre74, on 02/08/2008, -20/+602Makes me feel allot better about being an American. Thank your various gods people like this exist.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -62/+513That interviewer was a total *****. He had one objective; portray Obama supporters as ignorant black people. This way he's sure to scare white people into voting for (insert any other candidate's name here).
It's a good thing this guy is awesome and pretty much pwned the interviewer. - sutro33, on 02/08/2008, -10/+413Derrick 2016!
- AskWithoutBias, on 02/08/2008, -6/+340You know, if you guys actually watched the rest of the videos in his series you could actually see that the interviewer was just as brutal questioning other people regardless of their candidate. He wanted real reasons, not just campaigns' empty slogan rhetoric. However, it was pretty obvious that this Obama supporter thought out his positions well in advance and knew the right ways to articulate them.
- Ceeman, on 02/08/2008, -12/+339You know I am not for government health care.I am not really for any democrat but that was a good little interview. I think this guy was expecting to walk up to some thug kid and he got a guy who really understood the issues he cared about. Not many people can claim to understand what their party is about beyond a few talking points.
- artwork, on 02/08/2008, -1/+292I learned more about Obama's healthcare policy from this guy than from watching the debates.
- Hortnon, on 02/08/2008, -35/+289Yeah, that interviewer was a total douche.
- zhepp, on 02/08/2008, -50/+241Interviewer got pwned. Seriously though i think he was a Clinton supporter trying to put the stereotype that stupid black people vote for Obama without knowing anything and ended up getting the exact opposite.
- Mofassa, on 02/08/2008, -5/+166I'm going to have to disagree with you here.
Take a look at the other videos done by this guy. He's asking hard pressing questions to each person he interviews. By the looks of it, he's someone out there who's looking to get some good answers to real questions. If someone comes off looking like an idiot than so be it (Clinton supporter interview) - if not, it's an enlightening interview/discussion to watch.

So either he's out to show Clinton supporter's don't know anything, and Obama supports do...or he's just out asking good questions and posting answers. - gONZObLISS, on 02/08/2008, -12/+163Plant or not, this is how all Americans should attempt to be, passionate, well informed with reasons for why they believe as they do Nice to see even though I am for Dr. Paul. Dugg for sure
- CannedMango, on 02/08/2008, -3/+135I don't think that this reporter was out to get Derrick. At first it seemed that he was hammering him with questions because he was trying to find a question that he couldn't answer so he could embarrass him. But I think what really happened was he saw that this guy knew his stuff and wanted to ask a lot of questions that he himself was interested in. You can feel the vibe as the interview goes along that the two are starting to agree more and more. By the end it really feels more like a discussion than an interview. Good questions and excellent discussion from Derrick.
- theuniversal, on 02/08/2008, -10/+105I agree the interviewer was a douche, which makes it all the more amazing that the kid seemed to have won him over in the end. And yes, the 'Obama supporters are flaky ***** line' is getting really boring when the voter data says the exact opposite.
- JoEBlack982, on 02/08/2008, -8/+99the interviewer was the one that filmed it, so if he was a true ***** he wouldn't have uploaded this (since it made him look worse, i suppose)
- eak125, on 02/08/2008, -4/+92that was the most refreshing and uplifting thing that i have seen on the internet in quite some time. Even if you don't share the beliefs of that voter you have to admit that there was intelligence and confidence behind what he was saying. I've been tired of the idiot voters portrayed in the the media and that was not one. Gives me hope that the united states is in good hands with the upcoming generations.
Now that young man - what's his name? Because I'd vote for HIM! - idovoodoo, on 02/08/2008, -1/+78Not a plant. Check this guy's bio:
http://www.thelavinagency.com/usa/derrickashong.ht ... - mrtracy, on 02/08/2008, -3/+66That's fantastic. A typical Obama supporter? Probably not, but the ideal? Hell yes.
- spiraltri3e, on 02/08/2008, -3/+60Everybody complaining about socialised health care- you do realize the United States Government *already* spends more per individual than countries like Britain, purely on the bureaucracy, without providing any of the benefits such as a healthy population? Jesus.
- Arth718, on 02/08/2008, -20/+74I WOULD agree with you if what you said was truly the interviewers goal then this video would never have hit youtube.
- Orderless, on 02/08/2008, -0/+53Look at the interviewer's other stuff. His style is consistent across the line. This interview is only special in that the interviewee knows his *****.
- freakshowlee, on 02/08/2008, -1/+53Derrek for VP!
- Aroundtheworls, on 02/08/2008, -1/+51If you watch the interviewer's other videos he hits the other candidates' supporters with questions using a similar style. By far this guy was the most eloquent, however.
- Codee, on 02/08/2008, -6/+53An ideal supporter for any candidate. He was great under fire. It's even better that he's an Obama supporter.
Yes, we can. - colonelbuckshot, on 02/08/2008, -2/+49If that was the interviewer's motivation, he wouldn't have spread it around the internet. I'd say his motivation was the opposite.
- The_Wallbanger, on 02/08/2008, -4/+50I want to vote for that kid!
- disillusioned, on 02/08/2008, -3/+48Um, dude, he did it with Clinton supporters too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htD8v2t81h4&feature ...
Christ.
/for Obama - NoCt1, on 02/08/2008, -3/+47Dugg For using "various gods"
- badenglishihave, on 02/08/2008, -1/+43I disagree with most of Obama's policies but I have a lot of respect for the guy that was interviewed. Great American.
- LimeParrot, on 02/08/2008, -0/+41That's because the debates are publicity stunts controlled by the media.
- luke16, on 02/08/2008, -4/+43The kid knows his *****. I would seriously vote for him.
- jongos, on 02/08/2008, -6/+45This kid did a great job! Is Obama still looking for a running mate?
- artofwar420, on 02/08/2008, -3/+40He's a republican. The interviewer.
- SurrealDream, on 02/08/2008, -1/+38I'm not trying to be argumentative, but it seemed to me (by the end of the interview, at least) that the interviewer wasn't out to embarass anyone, but was genuinely interested in hearing a well thought-out argument, which is what he got.
I admit, I went into watching this video thinking that it would be another one of those "press in tough questions to highlight how ignorant the speaker is" type things that have become so prevalent on the internet. It's quite sad, really, that we assume that when people ask tough, IMPORTANT questions, that they're only out there to boost their own ego by embarassing others...it really seemed to me that this interviewer had totally the opposite intention. And he got an incredibly coherent discussion with the young man. That's very much a good thing. - kpmoore, on 02/08/2008, -3/+36Be sure to watch till the end at ~4:50 the kid really blows away the camera man. That was a great video.
- Aitese, on 02/08/2008, -1/+34The camera guy was trying to catch this guy out, but not for the reasons a lot of people think...watch the other videos. He hammers everyone with the same quick-fire questioning. Some fail. This guy didn't.
- zephyr42, on 02/08/2008, -1/+32Asking hard questions doesn't make you an *****, interrupting their answer to lay another question on them makes him an *****.... let the smart man talk!
- adooga, on 02/08/2008, -3/+32If you are really Jesus, prove it with one of your party tricks.
- poxonyou, on 02/08/2008, -5/+34Yeah. The guy seems to have an agenda (like, it's fairly obvious he doesn't support real universal health care), but he's not nice to any supporters.
- slumbum, on 02/08/2008, -2/+31Discussion, isn't that a beautiful concept? It's back again.
Our forefathers rejoice. - Neil22, on 02/08/2008, -4/+33It's the reporter that doesn't have the facts. $165 per month for health care does not represent the real costs -- try $450 per month. That's what we pay.
- DaveySK, on 02/08/2008, -0/+29"I wonder if he would do the same thing to a white woman with a Clinton sign?"
He actually did if you watch his other interviews. He also interviewed white men with Clinton signs and he did that with the same kind of behaviour he had towards this afro-american guy. It really is a stark contrast between the supporters. - inactive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+27Well done sir!
- LimeParrot, on 02/08/2008, -3/+30Very knowledgeable dude.
- poxonyou, on 02/08/2008, -4/+31Yeah, it's fairly obvious. He's incredibly hostile whether he's interviewing Obama or Clinton supporters. "Then why did he post the video if the guy owned him???" Pay attention to the details of their conversation. He was fixated on health care and basically got the guy to say universal health care is bad, which was good enough for the interviewer.
- Balath, on 02/08/2008, -0/+27This is what politics should be like every day.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -3/+30Yeah, upon further analysis I realized that you're probably right.
I guess I'm just sick of people claiming Obama supporters are bandwagon jumpers. A lot of us have been following him for more than 2 years, that's a long ass bandwagon to jump on. - ncairns, on 02/08/2008, -16/+41What's this!?
A Paulie suspects conspiracy!? - minox, on 02/08/2008, -0/+24If the reporter was out the get the way and the guy ended up handling himself well, which he did, why in the world would the reporter post the video to youtube? It would ultimately defeat his purpose, if he was trying to show that Obama supporters didn't know a thing about policy. The conclusion I come to is that the reporter wasn't out to get the guy.
