- davewashere, on 07/21/2008, -5/+20Seriously, the "experience" angle is only good up until a certain age, which I'd pin somewhere around 55-60. After that, experience is less and less important, because you start forgetting all of those lessons learned. My parents are both starting to show those signs of aging as their brains don't function as quickly as they once did, and they're 10 years younger than McCain. The Republicans made a big mistake by not choosing a younger candidate, and that will only become more apparent as the campaign rolls on and McCain's weariness becomes more apparent. The POTUS is an extemely demanding job requiring peak mental and physical stamina. McCain was never an example of intellectual prowess, and his physical condition has been in obvious decline for the past 15 years as he continues to deal with the effects of 6 years of torture, multiple instances of cancer, and the ordinary aging experienced by most 71-year-olds. At least GW had the proper physical conditioning for the job, although he might be lacking a lot in the mental department. John McCain doesn't come close on either.
