- wynja, on 08/05/2008, -54/+168You got to be ***** kidding me. There isn't even a choice here. You dumb ***** are going to elect McCain aren't you. This is just fodder to fuel the stealing of the election by Diebold and Republican voter purges once again. ***** this God forsaken country. I'll see you ***** in hell...... which should open up and swallow Detroit any second now.
- tbhurst, on 08/05/2008, -7/+41Looking over some of the other national polls, it looks like Zogby's have consistently shown a tighter race than may of the others - so, take it for what it's worth.
- magicman0201, on 08/06/2008, -21/+51Ill tell you why this is happening. its because all the smart democats have caller ID and are getting ***** annoyed by all the god damn political people calling them so they have stopped picking up the phone, mean while the republicans are contiuing to pick up the phone. if thats not the case and this is indeed a fair unbiased poll, then all i can say is that the ma jority of the american people are the dumbest group of mother ***** idots in the universe.
- SasquatchAME, on 08/06/2008, -24/+53I really don't understand how it could ever be this close. It appears that Obama has everything going for him. Something is just not adding up. America needs to open our eyes. I don't know if it's plain ignorance or complacency, but there should be no working class, educated, liberal, or worldly individual that does not back Obama completely. I'm not sure why his message does not carry as well as it should. This is the time to change the world, and ignorance is holding us back. It's so difficult to watch this happen and there be next to nothing we can do about it...
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -11/+39I'm not sure I agree. First as to Obama being tested by adversity? He was viciously attacked by the media about Jeremiah Wright and not also to mention the racist attacks by the Clintons (which the media loves to cover). The mainstream media has also not done their job by cueing people to think Obama is muslim (not that there's anything wrong with being muslim, although some people think there is). Surviving the Jeremiah ballyhou by nature shows that he was able to combat a big problem. Hillary's victories toward the end were more a function of demographics in the states she won rather than her campaign/strategy etc...
Plus, I'm not sure Hillary would have been able to have too many successes as president (or even win the election) given the Clintons' past and their combative style. Once Obama is president we will be able to see what he can do. - inactive, on 08/06/2008, -14/+38Shocking when you finally see proof that half of the world doesn't think like you do.
How dare they have a differing world view. - LemonDefragger, on 08/06/2008, -11/+33No. Not half the world, half the USA. Big difference. Obama's a shoe-in with the world.
- lougoose, on 08/06/2008, -4/+25Arthritis.
- timmers0, on 08/06/2008, -3/+23Dukakis was ahead by 14 points in the summer before loosing badly to George Bush Sr. in the fall. This doesn't surprise me.
- nullcodes, on 08/06/2008, -2/+22Ron Paul led on digg .. what was his performance like?
OK then.
The only way for Obama to win is for people to move his campaign offline.
Most people don't know or give a crap about online politics or even reading about the candidates.
I know a lot of people who say their supporting a particular candidate but have no clue where they stand on most issues. - Swarms, on 08/06/2008, -1/+20I love how the polls that showed Obama up 15 points were some how gospel, but this one is flawed, or lying, or "doesn't mean anything." Perhaps the real world is different than Digg and reality doesn't have as much of a bias as this site does. (Ron Paul didn't win, Snakes on a Plane still sucked)
http://rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politic ...
Rasmussen has it just as close. Somehow the fact that the polls have it close means that the polls are wrong since the media keeps showing Obama as America's darling, rather than admitting that the media coverage is biased and not everyone is in his camp. You guys have an answer or conspiracy theory for everything that doesn't fit your point of view. - wonderworm, on 08/06/2008, -12/+30McCain was the central pumper just weeks after 9/11 of blaming Iraq on the Anthrax outbreak when in reality it came from our own government labs with a dead guy now blamed for it. WTF!!
Way back in 2001, I was one of the people watching McCain, Cheney, and Condi on TV blaming Iraq for 9/11 and saying to myself, "OMG they are ratcheting up the propaganda to try to blame Iraq for 9/11 so they can invade it" and sure enough, they did. I even remember they put out fake videos of semi's driving around in Iraq saying that they were "mobile chemical weapons factories". Anyone remember that *****!! And McCain was smack dab in the middle of the lying and deceit of the American people. Unbelievable!!! - inactive, on 08/05/2008, -4/+19Yeah, I don't agree with that logic. I have to agree with GiantRiverOtter that her victories at the end of the primary were more a function of demographics than overcoming the odds.
On another note, I wanted to point out that even though I strongly disagree with your points, they were well articulated and thoughtful so they got a thumbs up. It drives me nuts when people give the thumbs down just because they disagree with the comment. If you disagree, then respond to the comment and continue the conversation. Save the bury for the irrelevant or stupid comments! - DeviateSeptum, on 08/06/2008, -4/+18I second that. There's absolutely no excuse for a public that is as willfully ignorant as the American public has become. This is far beyond a difference of opinion. There are gray areas in politics and issues but nobody who reads about and understands world events could support Republicans anymore unless they are complete morons or have a net worth over a few million. History will record the recent Republican dominance as Nazi-light. And who knows where things would have gone if the war had turned out better. Perhaps the Pat Robertson brand of neo-Con would have started rounding up atheists and "fumigated" them as he once said. Or perhaps Christianity would have been made an official religion of the US turning the US into a theocracy (or theocrazy).
- edrift101, on 08/06/2008, -4/+18Just wait til' we see some 1 on 1 debates.
- inactive, on 08/06/2008, -1/+14I really don't understand how it could ever be this close.
That's because you are "misunderestimating" Americans. - wild, on 08/06/2008, -0/+12They also have a notoriously bad time polling "younger" voters because they don't have home phones.
- skierkegaard, on 08/06/2008, -2/+14Winced at the '100% accurate' part.
- shakabrah, on 08/06/2008, -0/+12hell doesn't want detroit.
- belumaves, on 08/06/2008, -3/+15it's not ignorance that's holding me back, I looked at his policy ideas, listened to his speeches, and decided that he was scarier than Jon McCain. the man has proposed trillions of dollars in new spending when we are already way over budget, he want's to kneecap the economy through poorly lad out economic policy (no matter how nice it sounds taxing exxon to the point where they are not making any profit is not a good move, it will just drive prices even higher because profit is what they are there for) and on top of all that he is not any different than any other politician. do I like McCain? no, he has many of the same ideas, but they are less grandiose than Obama's ideas. Personally I think neither of them are qualified because the only governing experience they have is as senators, no time at all spent in an executive position. that concerns me...
- TruckStuff, on 08/06/2008, -3/+14Here's a thought: Joe American doesn't think like people on Digg? In my day-to-day life I find that the average person doesn't have a clue about anything going on online. They couldn't tell you the first thing about Ron Paul or Net Neutrality. And for some reason, most "techies" have a hard time grasping this concept.
Just putting it out there... - Plasmatica, on 08/06/2008, -8/+19McCain is going to win and I'm going to laugh at all of you...and then I'm going to cry.
- mejusthavin, on 08/06/2008, -3/+14Um this poll no way REFLECTS the Electoral College which is how our presidency is determined. Barrack Obama leads McCain by a landslide right now. Not to mention these polling companies are not always polling registered voters of which both Clinton and Obama have registered MILLIONS more than Republican leadership.
This is just a bunch of non-sense that has very little to do with the reality. It is more of the same nonsense the MSM uses to perpetuate this idea of a hose-race which is non-existent. These same companies were polling Clinton long after her math didn't add up like she still had a chance. It's nonsensical at times. - wild, on 08/06/2008, -1/+11Its "losing." I am sorry to be a grammar nazi, but the misspelling of that word has become a plague on the internet.
And no, it is not a typo. The "o" key isn't magically more sensitive on every keyboard in the world. - ZenFountain, on 08/06/2008, -26/+36Ron Paul.
- 0xbaadf00d, on 08/06/2008, -2/+11It's funny how Ron Paul was the king of the internet for quite a while, and now that crown has passed to Obama. The two couldn't be farther apart.
- LemonDefragger, on 08/06/2008, -8/+17Polls are a ***** waste of time. News corporations just release polls and call it analysis. Why don't we wait for the real poll, THE ELECTION, and stop caring what the results are beforehand and funding these ***** companies.
- BXRWXR, on 08/06/2008, -7/+16The only poll that is 100% accurate and matters is the one they conduct in November. It's called the election.
Until then, spare me the posturing, what if's, what might be's, name calling and instead focus on the issues.
Thanks,
America - DooM, on 08/06/2008, -3/+12No it makes him look like a really really pissed off highbrow genius. Yes, even smart people can say '*****' - it's a fun word - seriously, try it!
- FutureGuy, on 08/06/2008, -2/+10I can't imagine how anyone after 8 years of Bush would vote for McCain. McCain claims he can fix all the issues, so he had a solution for every issue like ending the war and in spite of being Bush's right hand didn't tell him those secrets? Think, use that little organ between your ears. I guess I underestimate the stupidity of the average voter. Isn't the damage done over the last 8 years enough, Obama is too smart to be president? too presidential to be president? too popular to be president? WTF?
- Cattywampus, on 08/06/2008, -3/+11"I really don't understand how it could ever be this close."
Obama has a total of four years of experience in national politics. Before that he was a state senator. Voters have a lot of questions about his experience and about what he will do as president. That's a lot of it... he's drawn big crowds for his speeches, but in terms of what kind of president he'd be, he's an unknown. - pintomp3, on 08/06/2008, -1/+9or we can have diebold run the elections... oh wait.
- wild, on 08/06/2008, -3/+11Identity politics. One guy has a blue shirt, one guy has a red shirt. For a majority of the populace, thats all they see. In this "awesome" new media run world, the people don't matter. The big picture doesn't matter. People vote whatever their party tells them to vote, and only listen to that party's talking points.
I have a lot of friends, in both camps, who don't really have a clue what either one is about, but know with conviction who they are voting for.
Sad stuff. - wild, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8I think he was being sarcastic...
- DukeLeto2, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7I'll give you a second... civilian national force.
"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." - 11oops, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7It's *it's*. You may be a spelling nazi, but certainly not a grammar nazi.
- jcounterman, on 08/06/2008, -1/+8To be fair, it can't be said that the Democrats have done anything useful since they took control of Congress. Also, now that Obama's stance on many issues (particularly the economy) are finally being release in detail, some thoughts are reconsidering.
I think wither party is going to screw up the next 4 years, because neither of them is a "new kind of politics." They're the same old crap. - orangefly, on 08/06/2008, -2/+9***** you frank....???....
- TheUngod, on 08/06/2008, -3/+10I'll give you one, good, educated reason to not vote Obama. FISA.
- turbodan1, on 08/06/2008, -10/+17I've been calling a McCain victory since Obama became the presumptive Democratic nominee. I actually think Clinton would have been a far better bet for winning the election for the Democrats. You see, most of you who comment on digg are in fact very liberal. Now, before I get dugg down, I'll say that being a liberal is not a bad thing, but this shows that about half (probably more than half; many moderates vote Democrat) of the US does not think like you guys do. Obama is one of the most liberal members of Congress (as far as voting record goes), and he has associated himself with far left maniacs, and I believe he's just too liberal for middle-class America. McCain is not the my favorite Republican either (reminds me of South Park episode "Douche and Turd"), but is a more traditional candidate that middle-class America can feel comfortable with.
- N3XUS, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7Yeah. We want to be slaves to the state. It's the only way.
- dezholling, on 08/06/2008, -0/+6You know what else has got bad? The horrible misspelling of ridiculous as "rediculous". *shudder*
- Godwhacker, on 08/06/2008, -0/+6Everyone should remember that U.S. elections are won by the electoral college and not by popular vote. If you look at Zogby's own map - http://www.zogby.com/50state/ - it's plain to see that things look very very bad for McCain. It's in the best interests of the pollsters and the media to keep us thinking that this is a close race. If it's not close, why should we pay attention. Right now, the 2008 election looks like an Obama electoral landslide.
- 0xbaadf00d, on 08/06/2008, -4/+10Funny... Detroit is 100% Democrat run...
- LibertyForever, on 08/06/2008, -1/+7Very true. You forgot "the American people are idiots" and variations on the theme. Maybe we should ignore majority rule and put these teenagers in power, while they know everything?
- Icetype, on 08/06/2008, -1/+7I love the people who say "good riddance" to anyone talking about leaving the country. People said that to me when I left. Then I came back (mistake). Now I'm leaving again. So go ahead and remind me how doors work in relation to my ass.
Love it or leave it. - MWeather, on 08/06/2008, -4/+10Not just western nations. Iraq and Afghanistan like him too.
- DeviateSeptum, on 08/06/2008, -2/+7For the record, ender7074, with your wonderful insight, I'm not even that big of a fan of Obama. He's just 1000x better than Mr. Bend-to-Party-Will McCain.
- Debofett, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5you know....i think your onto something...
I say we bring him to the vet and ask him if McCain is going senile... - metaliq, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5I don't know why you are being dug down.
Democracy does NOT work in an uninformed public. It becomes an oligarchy whose decisions are made by those who tell others what the "truth" is. -
