- inactive, on 11/14/2008, -4/+3Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman are cut from the same mold as FDR, HST, JFK, and Tip O'Neill. They love America, appreciate the providence under which she was founded and rose, live by principle rather than peer identity, and hold allegiance to country and principle higher than that of party.
Miller was a loyal "working man's" Democrat until the day he left the Senate. Lieberman was a loyal Democrat and as liberal as Paul Wellstone on everything but the war until the extreme Left chased him from the party.
By the standards that the extreme Left sets today, John F. Kennedy would be excommunicated from the Democratic party, and labeled a far-right kook. If you don't believe me, read Kennedy's inaugural address, and then tell me I'm wrong.

I am certain that the significance and poignancy of this post is lost on 90% of diggers. Alas!
