- freedomjoe, on 02/17/2009, -11/+103Well, the other big instance of voter fraud came from a republican hired by the RNC to "register" people, kinda like Acorn...only this guy LIED to people about what they were signing and so registered them as Republicans when they though they were signing a petition to stop child abuse. For this, he was charged with election fraud in two states. This happened in 2008.
Then he used that date to raise money, claiming California was in the running for McCain due to all of the newly registered republicans. I wouldn't be too happy if I were one of the people he committed fraud on, nor if I had donated to the RNC thinking the Republicans had a chance in CA.
THe same guy was also charged with voter fraud, for voting in two states.
THIS IS WHY THEY GO ON ABOUT ACORN. Acorn did none of these things; it's RAZZLE DAZZLE DISTRACT TIME. - newfrickinshow, on 02/17/2009, -8/+76A standard Republican tactic. When you have a problem or have done something wrong, be sure to accuse your opponents of the same thing first no matter how outrageous the claim. You can rely on your devout followers to push the crap and make it seem legit to some of those not paying attention. And by the time the actual information comes around, the accusations look like you're just bitter and trying to get back at the GOP. In 2000 a man who just bought a "ranch" without any animals, but with a manmade and artifically stocked pond in an effort, who went to Harvard and Yale, who's dad and grandfather were well-placed Washington politicians who himself was a multiple-time corporate failure to sell himself as a "good old boy" and competent. His opponent was the phony because he made some relatively small exaggerations, saying he "took the initiative in creating the internet", but he had authored the High Performance Computing and Communication Act of 1991 which lead to the National Information Infrastructure (and Al coined the term for it "Information Superhighway") and the Mosaic web browser which made the net popular.
In 2004 a Chickenhawk draft dodger, spoiled brat was able to sell himself as the "tough guy" over the decorated Vietnam vet. W actually managed to sell the people on John Kerry getting his honors and where he was because of family connections. George Bush complaining about other people getting to where the are based upon legacy is the ultimate in, not only hypocracy, but biting the hand that feeds him as well. - nihilville, on 02/17/2009, -8/+61Of course he was a leading candidate for the Young Republican National Federation, that's the kind of can do corruption and law breaking they like to see in the future leaders of their party.
- freedomjoe, on 02/17/2009, -8/+58NO, see ACORN DID NOT COMMIT VOTER FRAUD. THE REPUBLICAN DID and he was CHARGED WITH ELECTION FRAUD AND VOTER FRAUD.
Acorn did NOT commit voter fraud.
factcheck.org can verify this. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 02/17/2009, -6/+50Once again RBPCP, you display cognitive dissonance on a level that defies comprehension.
- poopsybythebay, on 02/17/2009, -1/+43In the dictionary under the word 'projection' will be a picture of the RNC because ANYTIME a rethug is squawking about any of their paranoid delusions of victimization you can be sure they are doing that very thing they are screaming about and doing it with good ole' fashioned crooked gusto doing it ten times worse than anyone would ever fathom.
- USArugula, on 02/17/2009, -5/+44"HUD’s new Neighborhood Stabilization Program will provide emergency assistance to state and local governments to acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight within their communities. The Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) provides grants to every state and certain local communities to purchase foreclosed or abandoned homes and to rehabilitate, resell, or redevelop these homes in order to stabilize neighborhoods and stem the decline of house values of neighboring homes. The program is authorized under Title III of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008."
Source: http://www.hud.gov/offices/cpd/communitydevelopmen ...
The Neighborhood Stabilization program has nothing to do with ACORN or voter rolls. - USArugula, on 02/17/2009, -7/+46"Good question and acorn gets billions in this stupid bill for continuing their voter fraud."
To add to freedomjoe's response: ACORN is not getting any money in this bailout. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 02/17/2009, -0/+36The moderate in me would really like to disagree with you here, but the pragmatist in me can't find any evidence to back up such a disagreement.
- Dipsomaniac, on 02/17/2009, -5/+39Yeah, RBPCP. If you were even a little brighter than that (say, as bright as your average dust mite) you could have linked to the part of the bill that you claim to be referencing.
- arkwald, on 02/17/2009, -8/+38I got an idea, why don't they get some good old stocks and let the people who he scammed kick him in the nuts. It might seem like a childish solution, however I would argue that since they are playing childish games to get 'their' person in that the punishment fits.
- allowners, on 02/18/2009, -1/+30This tactic must be in their training manual, or it was distributed through their hate industry network, because even the lowliest of Republicans employs it constantly. I really get the feeling that with this group we are dealing with only one mind shared across a multitude of people. Each "thought" is packaged up, then distributed across the hate industry network. The reason I have given up trying to have civil discussions with them is because I don't feel like I'm conversing with a mind so much as an inflexible template. May as well be talking to a wall, except that's a bit more pleasant.
- woodsjransom, on 02/18/2009, -5/+29Yep, that Rachel Hoff is a republican all right. The next time they say ACORN, I'll say Rachel. ACORN
Rachel - inactive, on 02/18/2009, -6/+30GOP = party before country
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 02/18/2009, -5/+29@RB: When I accuse you of cognitive dissonance, you do know what I mean right? If you want to head over to the dictionary site of your choice that's fine, I'll wait.
- Dumbledorito, on 02/18/2009, -5/+28RBPCP: I don't know where you get your "facts" from, but I'm guessing it's from websites with ads that have "Bodybuilding the Navy SEAL way" and "Are you ready for the rapture? Click here" on them.
- JenniferInMO, on 02/18/2009, -5/+28@RB: Dense is taking a line from a summary somewhere (not an official summary) and citing it as being from the stimulus bill. Please cite to the page in the Stimulus bill anything involving ACORN and elections, voting, or registration or similar activity. You cannot because it is NOT in the bill.
- freedomjoe, on 02/18/2009, -0/+22YES! I have learned to always look more closely at them....look at the recent Daschle uproar..and now, Cantor has tax fraud involving Abramoff and I'm sure there will be many, many more.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 02/18/2009, -5/+26@Jenn: And for added fun, this whole discussion is in a sub about Republican voter fraud. Freedomjoe was making the statement that those who are in fact guilty of voter fraud make a big deal about Acorn in order to direct attention away from their own dirty hands, and RB's rebuttal is to make a big deal about Acorn. I'm not familiar with the debate tactic of making your opponent's point for him, but whatever works for ya I guess.
- Rixar13, on 02/18/2009, -3/+22Seems to be a pattern here with Republicans..... Ann Coulter is alleged to have done the same in several states.... Just Sayin.
Local authorities charged six Republicans with violating the rules, and the State Attorney General, Larry Long, explained the rare decision to prosecute notary violations on the grounds that they had invalidated the ballots of students who intended to vote. - ReasonWinsOut, on 02/18/2009, -3/+17@RBPCP: After reading your comments, I'd suggest you stop. Just. Stop. Before you embarrass yourself further.
- andrewbacon, on 02/18/2009, -6/+20republican hypocrite. shocked.
- L0NER, on 02/18/2009, -6/+19but but but ACORN!!!!!!!!
- inactive, on 02/18/2009, -2/+15 @ Yuea,
What's stopping you, and/or WND from posting a story? Oh no- don't tell me the "communist media" isn't even letting you post on digg now- shocking! And you know- WND is so fair, and balanced in their coverage, this biased digg media crap must be really scary- to all you open minded folk! - inactive, on 02/18/2009, -4/+17That's such BS, and also sooo old. Every time a republican gets charged with ANYTHING- you repukes are but, but, but what about democrats, and ACORN... Want to talk voter fraud- 8 years, 2 elections stolen by republicans, and their Texas idiot. Furthermore, there hasn't been VOTER FRAUD DUE TO ACORN; it was registration fraud by ACORN workers who were paid by volume, ie how many new voters they registered, however, these bogus names were flagged by ACORN- and never counted as voters, or votes.
- malex, on 02/18/2009, -1/+12Actually, they didn't. You're just buying into the propaganda without question.

No, I'm completely serious. Read them. Allow the information to enter your mind and consider their validity from a rational and objective perspective. I know it's new for some people, but I believe you can do it. - inactive, on 02/18/2009, -3/+13*facepalm*
- novenator, on 02/18/2009, -3/+13For a minute there I thought you were talking about this guy:
http://digg.com/politics/Ameriborn_News_owner_Will ... - GreatSunJester, on 02/18/2009, -1/+10malex -- read them. You are right, I did not know the whole story. It was not an ACORN policy, it was just ACORN employees faking registrations.
- MorganMghee, on 02/18/2009, -5/+14Shenanigans!
- Elohir, on 02/18/2009, -6/+15The word you are looking for is 'biased'.
lrn2english - JenniferInMO, on 02/18/2009, -2/+11I love that guy. A shameless self-promoter, racist, bad speller and overall not the sharpest tool in the shed. But he just keeps submitting his own nonsense as though it will make sense. Every once in awhile a stray nutter or two will pass by and notices something about "discrimination" against white men and they'll leave a few comments, but even they think they guy is weird.
- absurdist, on 02/18/2009, -0/+9@LR85: "There is no reasoning with a brainwashed mind."
All too true. And the irony of you, of all people, making that statement, is rich beyond belief. - treehugger87, on 02/18/2009, -0/+8Yeah, rth, you uncovered a real conspiracy there. Montgomery hires 30 workers to canvass neighborhoods. Instead of doing the job they were hired to do, they go to MacDonald's to fill out fake cards. The crime Montgomery was accused of? Failure to disclose a meeting where they discussed destroying the fake voter registration cards.
Compare this to Republican groups hiring people to register voters and then tearing up all the forms for people who registered Democrat (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/10/14/politics ... Google "Nathan Sproul" for a long list of crimes that actually happened. - iwhitness, on 02/18/2009, -1/+9oh cry about it. liberals have been putting up with this biased ***** for years.
- MalenfantX, on 02/18/2009, -1/+8The point is that Acorn didn't do any such thing except in the imaginations of the victims of Republican propaganda.
Acorn properly submitted and marked invalid ballots as they are required by law.
Republican liars ran with this and claimed that Acorn was responsible for fraud. Clueless victims of the Republicans swallowed the lies as they always do. - GreatSunJester, on 02/18/2009, -0/+7I ended up biased against ACORN when someone sent me a link to a video showing their leader revving up her followers with the words "Obama needs us. We NEED OBAMA"
At the time I had thought they were supposed to be a non-partisan voter registration organization that has championed some good causes, this obvious bias colored my perceptions. I understand now that they are a non-profit organization that does many things, but has a heavy liberal leaning. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 02/18/2009, -2/+9Hypocrisy is bad too. "Going on" about ACORN when members of your own party have committed more egregious offenses certainly fits the bill doesn't it? Granted, not everything is a conspiracy, but isn't it a bit odd that Acorn showed up in talking points during the 2008 election when previous elections were chock full of accusations against various members of the Republican party gaming the system?
Trying to remain objective, to me it's hard not to see that tactic as an attempt at misdirection. Failing that it could also be a case of "yes our hands are dirty but look yours are too!" - treehugger87, on 02/18/2009, -4/+10Did you notice that when Democrats are accused of voter fraud it is never based on events that actually occurred?
- bobbknight, on 02/18/2009, -3/+9I went to the ACORN web site and it looks to be all about housing stability.
http://www.acorn.org/ - eir574, on 02/18/2009, -1/+7@GreatSun
In all seriousness, could I ask you why you believed that talking point about ACORN? It's great that you read the links and have realized that you were wrong before, and I'm trying to understand why so many people just accept what they're told by political parties without doing any fact checking. The irony with the ACORN thing is that we know about it precisely because ACORN flagged the suspicious registrations as potentially fraudulent when they turned them in (as they were required by law to do -- they're not allowed to throw them out). But, so many people refused to change their minds when confronted with actual facts. - MalenfantX, on 02/18/2009, -0/+6Conservatives often spell 'Biased' as 'Bias.'
I don't know why that is, but maybe they're mindlessly following someone with a speech impediment. - amoirae, on 02/18/2009, -1/+6………………….._,,-~’’’¯¯¯’’~-,,
