- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -12/+250This Kid got sick of people taking his Obama sign, so he set up a live webcam...

- sigloiv, on 10/15/2008, -2/+105I just hate how sweeping generalizations like this are made. I've been saying this for awhile, but a ton of the American populace is really, really stupid. There are dumb Republicans, and there are dumb Democrats. To say that "McCain supporters are crazy fanatics that justify vandalism" is hugely insulting to some perfectly respectable people.
I don't think Barack Obama is stupid. I don't think John McCain is stupid. I don't think all Obama supporters are communists. I don't think all McCain supporters are "crazy fanatics". It's just absurd to say something like that.
What's worse is that people in the Digg community support that kind of comment. Radical viewpoints shouldn't be supported, even if they're on your side.
And I'll probably get dugg down for this... - netneutrality, on 10/15/2008, -3/+103Stealing signs is a silly thing to do. It just makes the victims more determined.
- orelses, on 10/14/2008, -7/+104Someone yelled out their car window at me "You ***** pussy" while I was putting up an Obama sign in front of my place in Orlando on Friday. That didn't really bother me but yes I can imagine it would take some courage for some people to deal with various kinds of flack they get for supporting Obama out in the open in their neighborhoods, which may include people who are sending around those Obama is a Muslim to penetrate our government and destroy America.
- rebotfc, on 10/14/2008, -6/+99Can't stop the signal.
- jskeetjr, on 10/14/2008, -2/+93Like in the picture? No way
- inactive, on 10/14/2008, -10/+87Nice. Someone stole mine over the weekend and I bought another (as well as more campaign goodies). I think I may just steal this idea!
- pHreaksYcle, on 10/15/2008, -11/+86I do not believe that Obama is a Muslim in disguise, I just don't like him. And that's okay. It's the people who get radical (ie: Republicans: Obama is a terrorist/Democrats: Obama is a gift to the US from God) - on EITHER side - that ruin the country for everyone else.
- Alex2, on 10/15/2008, -8/+80McCain's sigh : "Get off my lawn!"
- troub, on 10/14/2008, -21/+92I was thinking of exactly this the other day when I heard of some sign-burnings in the redneck exurbs of my city. If someone trashes my sign, I'll go down to the campaign HQ and make another donation and get another sign.
I would then place a sign next to the new sign advising that the vandalism only increases Obama campaign contributions. - geekchic, on 10/14/2008, -12/+67courage?
- suxmonkey, on 10/14/2008, -8/+57This is pure awesome
- Jelga, on 10/15/2008, -0/+44Ugh why do people do this. I mean when I see McCain signs, yes I cringe, but physically going over and stealing and/or trashing it is so ***** childish. Do what this person did and buy another McCain.
- netneutrality, on 10/15/2008, -2/+44People have been stealing McCain signs too. Elections make everyone crazy, not just the other side.
- RobotBuddha, on 10/15/2008, -1/+42I saw a McCain sign with a big "Unlike the people who stole our sign, we support free speech." sign next to it. Seriously, petty vandalism does nothing but make the victim look better. I have to imagine that the time either side spent stealing signs could have been better put to actually working toward whatever platform it is that they supposedly agree with. But, really, the kind of people who do something like that aren't in it for ideology. They're in it because they're willing to let events that save or destroy human lives be reduced to a political football game.
- BlatheringIdiot, on 10/15/2008, -1/+40oh, they're easy to find. I got mine off a neighbor's lawn last nite...
- sigloiv, on 10/15/2008, -1/+38I get the courage thing, but I still laughed a little bit. Here in California, especially up in the East Bay where I live, it would take courage to put up a McCain sign. Hell, as a student in high school, I can get publicly ridiculed by my teachers for even advocating a libertarian point of view.
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know whereabouts in the United States this sign is from? - AWBoy666, on 10/15/2008, -10/+43And someone smashed my McCain sign within 3 hours of my putting it up. This isn't news and it certainly isn't linked to one side.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -3/+34I live in Oklahoma and YES, it does take courage to put up an Obama sign here and we had one stolen out of our yard as well. Luckily, after we put ours up we found out almost all our neighbors support Obama too and they put theirs up. I'm quite proud of my little block. :)
- noahgelman, on 10/15/2008, -1/+31@pHreaksYcle
Dugg up because your not some some ranting idiot - AWBoy666, on 10/15/2008, -2/+31Couldn't agree more Jelga. I have that same feeling with the Obama signs but I completely respect that person's right to say it.
- ironhide, on 10/15/2008, -18/+45In that case, you probably all forgot that you didn't have signs in the first place.
- roxgod666, on 10/15/2008, -20/+47Keep your Obama sign if you have one. In 50 years, you can tell your grand kids, "yep i help save this country from a devastating downfall towards the ***** from 2 idiots."
- Amadeus2490, on 10/15/2008, -1/+28No, he was muttering under his breath.
- araza13, on 10/15/2008, -10/+36Ok it's official. Digg is 24 hours behind Reddit 99% of the time.
- Checkerd, on 10/15/2008, -0/+26Heh, a Jeff Merkly sign. Can't wait for the election season to be over so they will stop airing both his and Gordon Smith's campaign commercials. Honestly, you see one every five minutes here in Oregon.
- diggpatt, on 10/15/2008, -1/+26See the trick is he seemed to support the general flow of comments at first, then morphed his comment into a McCain support in the last 6 words so no one noticed.
Ninja campaigner. - Spuy767, on 10/15/2008, -3/+27Some ***** bitch in a smart car pulled up behind me at a stop light, got out of her ***** car, and came to my window just to tell me that she didn't appreciate my "Vote Third Party" bumper sticker. Meanwhile she has so many obama bumper stickers on her car as to obscure her visibility.
- MischiefGirl, on 10/15/2008, -0/+23Huh? This doesn't have anything to do with elitism or having vast financial resources. The owner was basically saying, " hey if you keep stealing my signs I'm just going to keep buying more from the Obama campaign, which is just giving Obama more financial resources to win the election, which you clearly don't want, so you might as well stop stealing my signs." By continuing to steal signs, the thief would basically be doing his own part in bringing about an Obama victory.
- vat0r, on 10/15/2008, -0/+22So someone steals your sign and if you buy a new one you're an elitist? +1 for spin factor -10 for being an idiot.
- TVarmy, on 10/15/2008, -2/+24Someone stole my Obama sticker. I bought two more, put them up. I'm planning to keep up this hydra strategy, should the jerk do it again.
- yeahaboutthat, on 10/15/2008, -12/+34I believe I'll make my point about my concerns about the country and the outcome of this election without putting up a sign for either McCain or Obama.
I think I'll dig (no pun intended) around for an old Bush Cheney 2004 sign, and doctor it up a bit. (It's ok, I'm a doctor)
Instead of Bush/Cheney for President, My sign will say:
Bush/Cheney FOR PRISON - smashv2, on 10/15/2008, -1/+21"STOP! STOP! STOP!" "CALL 911!"
- KingGorilla, on 10/15/2008, -1/+21And their spending power. I'm a college student and I'm too cheap for signs
- reticulate, on 10/15/2008, -0/+19Did the primary buffer panel just fall off my gorram ship for no apparent reason?
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -0/+19Nope, wisely said. Divisiveness never solved anything.
- twiztidsinz, on 10/15/2008, -2/+21Just like wearing a team jersey helps them win the game....
It's to show your support, dumbass... you know, freedom of expression? - Skywise, on 10/15/2008, -6/+24This has happened several times in our town. Except its Obama guys stealing McCain signs, or setting fire to a larger one.
Or painting Republicans for Slavery on RNC storefronts. - Tsujigiri, on 10/15/2008, -0/+18I've seen vandalism to both parties signs in my area. Sadly, nobody has a monopoly on asshats.
- blackjack75, on 10/15/2008, -1/+19... and I don't care since I only read one of them. I have to wonder who has the time to read both sites just to compare. Why are you even here if Reddit is better?
- n1eb, on 10/15/2008, -34/+52This literally happened to me and my three neighbors last night. This morning I noticed that the signs we put up in our yards were gone, except they weren't Obama signs, we're all for McCain.

- eedge, on 10/15/2008, -0/+16This is the captain, we have a lil' problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight…turbulence, and then…explode.
- GiggleStick, on 10/15/2008, -3/+18How do you know he wasn't an Obama supporter that couldn't afford the sticker? He was just spreading your wealth.
- raitchison, on 10/15/2008, -0/+15"Some ***** bitch in a smart car pulled up behind me at a stop light, got out of her ***** car, and came to my window just to tell me that she didn't appreciate my "Vote Third Party" bumper sticker. I think a lot of Democrats are really sensitive to the idea of people voting 3rd party after the 2000 election where arguably Nader & the green party cost gore the election. -
