"Shalom to you all and thank you for joining us. We greatly appreciate your willingness to help out in the information war.
The work of "Explaining Israel" to the world has become more complex since the Internet become an important player in the media world.
Thats why we thought it would be a good idea to use your skills, knowledge and good will around the world wide web.
We are now in the midst of a learning process of our activity during the Gaza war and preparing for the future.
We will then turn to you to help us in the next steps we decide upon.
We are well aware that your are volunteers and not formal speakers of Israel, but nevertheless we would like to provide you with all kind of material for more successful dialogs around the web.
We added you to our mailing list, and we will use it to send you, from time to time, all kind of information, textual and visual.
Off course that in any time you will be able to unsubscribe from this list.
Our first request is that you all sign in to Giyus at http://giyus.org/ and download the 'Megaphone' desktop tool.
Please do not forward this Email or any of our emails, if you want to forward a link, just copy it to a new email.
We would like to thank the Ministry of Immigrant absorption for all their help in recruiting you .
Thanks again,
Hasbara Department
Ministry Of foreign Affairs"
IsraeliGirl's GIYUS made it big-time. I, for one, do not want Israeli gov't spin all over my internet, nor do I want their assaults against free speech. We can fight this BS. - SatoriSeeker, on 01/30/2009, -11/+60Wow. As a United States citizen I'm so glad to see we are sending billions of dollars of our people's wealth over to Israel every year so that they can pay people to do this. I've never been so proud of my country and those it associates with.
/s - MH94, on 01/30/2009, -11/+55I think we already knew this was happening on digg with any article remotely related to Israel, but for any blog, news site, or other website??!!! I guess it just takes that much effort to hide the truth.
- inactive, on 01/30/2009, -13/+53If you visit the JIDF
http://www.thejidf.org
and check their link back to digg, you find the JIDF "membership" here on digg, with the usual suspects of course.

P.S. I friended 'em just to keep an eye on 'em - hamobu, on 01/30/2009, -11/+51Pro-Israeli side is losing on the internet. Even though they are well organized, determined and have necessary resources, truth is simply not on their side.
- kaosethema, on 01/30/2009, -8/+44hmm, a virtual israel on the internets... interesting...
- GovernmentSp00k, on 01/30/2009, -10/+39They don't like the truth of their actions revealed.. That's why they have JIDF so they can hide the truth.
Israeli control of Digg, Facebook, Blogs, YouTube, etc. is a constant struggle...They can't control the message anymore.
People should say whatever they want. That's what freedom is all about. We pay good money every month for Internet access. In America we have this thing called -=freedom of speech=-. That's what living in a free country is all about. We need to allow other people to express their opinions, ideas and thoughts no matter how "controversial." Without fear of being personally assaulted & cyber-bullied into submission just for sharing dissenting viewpoint. We can decide for ourselves without some censorious, organized 'thought police' front with ulterior motive telling us what to think and what to believe while subverting anything which doesn't fit their agenda. We need to hear all points of view and decide for ourselves. To not allow us to do so is unAmerican. Let's not be bullied around and let's not let some biased "JIDF", "bury brigadier" no-life goofballs or whatever determine what's allowed to be said.
Beware those who would deny you access to information, for in their heart they dream themselves your master.. - inactive, on 01/30/2009, -7/+34Nice work Amy
- sheeplescareme, on 01/30/2009, -11/+34if israel wants to improve its image, they don't need armies of idiots pushing their talking points on the internets. all they need to do is actually be serious about living peacefully with their neighbours, maintain the ceasefire, end the blockade, remove their illegal settlements from palestinian territorities, and secure their borders according to the '67 green line.
hmmm...it seems that history suggests that they do need an army of interwebs propagandists after all. - amy31415, on 01/30/2009, -6/+26Thanks. ;)
- Lawofnations, on 01/31/2009, -8/+27Thanks for posting this information. I've always found it suspect that whenever a positive post goes up their are an unusual number of people who jump on it right away and try to provoke a fight rather than intelligent discussion. This confirms my suspicions.
- GovernmentSp00k, on 01/30/2009, -9/+26You gotta wonder what they are so frightened of. Recruiting organized "cyber armies" to obfuscate & smear the truth. It's a full time job for these professional instigators. Then they're off to the next 9/11 / Ron Paul / Alex Jones thread. Just another day at the office right. They especially despise anybody who can see through their propaganda..
One needs to think about the psychological motivations, manipulations and techniques guiding much of the criticism of information that isn't 'officially' recognized. The biggest of these is the use of keywords and key phrases, particularly by those who support & are paid to propagate the 'official' line of events.
These phrases - deliberately full of inaccuracies and distortions -- like 'tinfoil-hat-wearing conspiracy nut-jobs', "troofer" "anti-semitic" "wildly insane" "pull it from Alex Jones' ass", etc. (just to name a few of the "favorites"..) are an attempt to shame people into silence. They are also used - ridiculously - to brand certain types of information as taboo and certain types of natural, human curiosity, fact-finding & inquisitiveness as 'insanity.'..
The shills paramount "method" is to sidetrack opponents with name calling and ridicule. Also known as the primary attack the messenger ploy, though other methods qualify as variants of that approach. Associate opponents with unpopular titles such as "kooks", "right-wing", "liberal", "left-wing", "tin foil hat", "conspiracy buffs", "racists", "delusional" and so forth. This makes others shrink from support out of fear of gaining the same label, and you avoid dealing with issues. *****'s right out of "dis-info 101" for Dummies. They 'drop in' simultaneously one after the other in little packs of self-congratulatory groups to incite their childish 'comment wars." Promote diversion, get us fighting amongst each other to divert attention away from discussing the topic. Create disorder. Assault anybody who questions what is going on, the truth seekers. To mock, ridicule them in desperate attempt to smear, subvert and discredit their point. To discourage rational debate.
All in dire effort to fabricate an atmosphere of confusion where no truth is known - and anything could be believed.
If one insults people and attempts to classify them as 'insane' just because they dared to consider information that did not have the "official' stamp of approval, one may cause them to cling even more strongly to their viewpoints because they detected an attempt to shame them into silence and they became offended by this.
The American people have got to get wise. Some domestic and foreign group or groups are clearly promoting disinformation all over the place. If anyone at any time made an inaccurate statement, they are there to find it. The purpose is to distract the curious and 'keep them busy'. And then you have to ask yourself: what sort of culture feels 'entitled' to keep people "busy' like this? What sort of culture is about being everyone else's 'boss' or 'master'? - inactive, on 01/31/2009, -9/+25The saddest part of this is that we have to go to the Israeli press to find any truth about Israel itself. If anyone published this in the USA they'd be called, well, you know.
- amy31415, on 01/31/2009, -4/+20How do we deal with it? We organize, form our own groups to counter the propaganda with the truth. We use their own tools against them or render them virtually ineffective, by say, joining GIYUS, JIDF, the ADL, etc. Every time they put an untrue, biased or half-truth out there, that is an opportunity to expose them and discredit them and publicize what's really going on. They do this at their own peril, quite frankly. Oh, and support the Israeli and Jewish groups that oppose what the government is doing, groups/organizations such as B'Tselem.
As to why? There are many reasons, some are religious fanatics--usually either Jewish or Christian. Some Jews believe that the first messiah is going to come to Israel. Some Christians believe that Jesus is coming back and all those Jews need to be there to face his wrath and be destroyed (pretty sick, eh?) Some people are greedy, some are stupid, some are Jewish supremicists, some people have bought the propaganda hook, line and sinker and think all Arabs are terrorists, therefore Israel *must* be right in oppressing and occupying Palestine, because every single person there is obviously in league with Khaleid Sheik Mohammed.
So far, it seems that their main yapping points are:
1. You're an anti-semite (even if you're Jewish!)
2. They elected Hamas! (Israel groomed Hamas when Fatah gained too much power.)
3. They were firing rockets into Israel. (True, but they're occupied/blockaded and oppressed.)
4. They use human shields (when the preponderance of evidence points to the IDF using them)
5. Hamas broke the cease-fire (which is complete BS and it's documented that Israel broke it.)
6. We offered them the world and they just wouldn't take it! (Also BS, there has never been a reasonable offer put on the table, it just takes a bit of research to conclude this.)
There's more, but that's the gist of it. All of these arguments are weak to begin with and none legitimize what Israel does to the Palestinians. If it gets desperate and Israel needs to gain sympathy to further it's agenda, look for a false flag attack to occur. That's one of their favored tactics for gaining support. - inactive, on 01/31/2009, -12/+28Shall we call them by name?

My neighbor's dogs might get loose one day and come over to my property and piss on my flowers. So proactively I think I should go over there before that happens and shoot all his dogs. And maybe I should also, in case they decide to get more dogs or give me any other trouble I should "proactively" shoot them all as well, maybe burn their house down too while I'm at it. Or take over his property. But I'm only just being "proactive". - Lawofnations, on 01/31/2009, -5/+10Israel created Hamas.

Before long, I'll probably be gone too. Censorship is everywhere; we have lost our constitutional rights of free speech. It has long been recognized that knowledge is power, so of course the powers that be will control just how much we know. The internet is driving them nuts and they are trying to figure out ways to restrict what is on the web. Going after bloggers is a common practice. I'll miss ycw, he is a great newshound.
- inactive, on 02/01/2009, -6/+9Pragma, this thread's titular article offers "roof that those other groups are manipulating" the internet. How can you honestly say you've never seen any Zio-ganda tentacle mentioned besides megaphone?
Would you accept that megaphone has become a byword for any kind of generic Zionist internet manipulation? Why do you have create intentional confusion and misunderstanding where none was necessary? Is that how your ADL seminar taught you how create FUD?

- clvngodess, on 02/17/2009, -0/+2I don't know about them losing. Maybe in some corners. When I visit Yahoo Buzz and "buzz up" an article specific to Gaza or anything related to these matters the prozionist stance is fierce and many. The reach is amazing. Let us not be naive about this. Much work is still to be done to sway the minds of those who believe the propaganda.

- beautifulady, on 02/01/2009, -3/+4So true. You just can't spin away all those dead civilians, and all that devastation, and all that brutality. For Israel, it looks as though the chickens are coming home to roost. It's way past time. I don't think there is anything these people can say that can explain away what they've been doing to the Palestinian people for the past 61 years. And when you deliberately bomb a UN compound, you don't look like the good guy no matter how hard you try.

- wollsmosh, on 02/01/2009, -2/+3edit: on my* course at uni.
- clvngodess, on 02/17/2009, -0/+1wjappe, proactive doesn't mean being a kneejerk maniac. Your example is not being proactive but maybe running along the lines of paranoid. In the sense of this conversation, proactive would be strategic thinking and acting. If you go and shoot your neighbor's dogs how is this a strategy? Have you thought about the next set of consequences? What will the neighbor likely do when he comes home to find his set of flower pissing dogs dead? What will you do when he reacts to this?
Thinking these things through, knowing what the desired outcomes, knowing what to do when things do go as planned, having a plan and strategy, talking points, etc., this is being proactive.
Merely going to the neighbor's house and shooting the dog is not being proactive. It's reactive. Having a plan and strategy, this is proactive. - yonoz, on 02/08/2009, -5/+4http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volunteer
