- BishkekBuddy, on 10/05/2008, -4/+75This editorial was written in May '08 and one would think, if one were a reasonable sort, that it would be best not to sling mud at Obama about Ayers since THIS relationship has already been broached in the media....
Tough thing about getting old - short term memory starts failing. - workfaster, on 10/05/2008, -3/+65McCain needs to think twice about this new Hail Mary. In addition to Liddy, how about McCain's courtship of Hagee (the outspoken anti-semite) and now this...
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1008/A_shot ... - stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -0/+61And the Keating Five, anyone, of which McCain was a part? The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators were accused of improperly aiding Charles H. Keating, Jr., chairman of the failed Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of an investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board. The result of the collapse of Lincoln Savings and Loan was that 21,000 mostly elderly investors lost their life savings.
- bwither, on 10/05/2008, -1/+53Liddy's, role in Watergate included planning for the murder of Daniel Ellsberg, CIA Agent Howard Hunt, and journalist Jack Anderson.
People in glass houses. . . - logicaldog, on 10/05/2008, -1/+44I, for one, am sooo sick of McCain slinging garbage in a random and childish way. Heres a concept, run an ethical campaign based on policies... nah.
- bmcrow21, on 10/05/2008, -1/+30This type of tactic will come back to bite McCain in the bum.
- Katy7540, on 10/05/2008, -2/+28Yeah, its old news, but Palin has just started reading newspapers for the first time in her life just this week, bless her poor lil heart.
- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -1/+24It will not be lost on voters, who are well accustomed to respecting and acknowledging the worth and qualification of individuals they live and work with in their increasingly diverse communities, that John McCain does not view Barack Obama as his equal. Those familiar with McCain's record as a legislator will take notice of his stubborn refusal to acknowledge, even, the accomplishments and worth of one of the greatest black Americans of our time in his repeated rejection of the recognition of Martin Luther's birthday as a national or state holiday.

What else do you expect from a racist, bigot and homophobe?
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/cont/node/10086 - p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 10/06/2008, -1/+24FTA: "How does McCain explain his howling hypocrisy on the subject? He doesn't. I made repeated inquiries to his campaign aides, which they refused to acknowledge, much less answer. On this topic, the pilot of the Straight Talk Express would rather stay parked in the garage.
That's an odd policy for someone who is so forthright about his rival's responsibility. McCain thinks Obama should apologize for associating with a criminal extremist. To which Obama might reply: After you."
To which Obama SHOULD reply... and then some.
This ***** WILL come up in Tuesday's debate out of McCain's duplicitous mouth. Obama had better be ready to slam him on these attacks. - deem1890, on 10/05/2008, -2/+22Obama slams 'shameless' Palin, the bimbo is pathetic... I hope she never comes to Brooklyn, NY..
Some eggs will be thrown at her... Ugly puppet! She is so disgusting! She and her dysfunctional family are
like demons! - applepro, on 10/06/2008, -1/+17"Last November, McCain went on his radio show. Liddy greeted him as "an old friend," and McCain sounded like one. "I'm proud of you, I'm proud of your family," he gushed. "It's always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great."

Sarah Palin, the most incompetent woman on the face of the earth and John "Maverick" McCain that would give a Nazi a reach around for a vote.
*****, *****, *****... Why is this happening? Seriously, I have these dark thoughts of stabbing stupid people when I realize that McCain/Palin is not a joke but actually have like 40% of the votes in an election!
Jesus tap dancing Christ, what is wrong with this country?? - IphtashuFitz, on 10/06/2008, -0/+10One thing a lot of people don't know about William Ayers is that he is now a Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. If so many people are willing to condemn Obama for actions performed by the group Ayers was a member of 40 years ago (when Obama was eight) and 25 years after Ayers turned his back on the Weathermen and accepted his punishment, then shouldn't we similarly condemn EVERY person that has ever taken a course by this professor? After all, the implicit claim is that Ayers corrupted Obama, so doesn't that mean Ayers is also a corrupting influence on all his students?
- Kaputar, on 10/06/2008, -0/+9Let he / she who is without blame cast the first stone! Ayers has overcome his past & is now a respected academic professor contributing to his society. Many young people have done & said things they would prefer to forget in later life. Liddy was a mature & responsible adult when he too showed total disrespect for the constitution and the laws of the land. At least Ayers was acting for the greater good as he then believed it to be. I don't think Liddy was quite so highly motivated.
I'll sit down with Professor Ayers any day, but have grave doubts about doing the same with Liddy. - illinoise89, on 10/06/2008, -3/+11Wow. I had never heard of this before. This combined with Palin's husband completely negates any arguments to be made about Obama being unfit to serve because of his connections. Every politician who reaches a certain level of success has some unsavory connections; McCain is throwing some serious stones out of his glass house.
- IphtashuFitz, on 10/06/2008, -1/+8It will be interesting in the coming week or two to see how much the MSM focuses on Obama/Ayres and if they provide similar coverage of both McCain/Liddy and Palin/Alaska Independence Party or not. I think this mudslinging attempt by the McCain/Palin party has a very good chance of backfiring if they're not careful.
- tdclark23, on 10/06/2008, -0/+6So Liddy was tried and convicted. He served his time and it shouldn't be held against him. The charges against Ayers were dropped, so he was never tried and never convicted. Sounds to me like he deserves the same break you are asking for Liddy.
Ayers claims he didn't say he didn't set enough bombs but that he didn't do enough to stop the War in Vietnam. Now I know you don't believe him but how do you feel about Liddy continuing to call for violence? - BishkekBuddy, on 10/06/2008, -0/+5"Liddy did not plot murders" .... man, do you have a lot to learn! He not only plot murders (DEA agents) but also ON THE RADIO told his listeners how to do it themselves! The man is a convicted FELON!
- radio4fan, on 10/06/2008, -1/+6And when Bill Ayres was bombing statues, Barack Obama was seven years old.
- diggapleeeze, on 10/06/2008, -1/+6Post something that is not a lie, half-truth or hypocritical then.

- Echota, on 01/05/2009, -1/+5Watergate was a small thing?????????
To bad you can't tell that to Nixon! - inactive, on 10/06/2008, -0/+3What's wrong with this country?
Two things:
1. Dumbed down population due to crumbling education system that doesn't teach ethical values and deep education about science, logic, art, history, and civics.
2. Corporate MSM that prioritizes short term profit & "reality tv" over long term sustainable ways of living. A news media that refuses to challenge us or dig deeply and do investigative reporting because that's expensive and they they might lose market share.
Pretty simple really and not likely to change anytime soon under either military industrial complex/bankster/globalist controlled corporate sock puppet party. When our leaders can quote knowledgeably from BOTH Noam Chomsky and Russell Kirk I'll have hope but not before then. - OddMoniker, on 10/06/2008, -0/+3BAN
- theonlybradever, on 10/06/2008, -0/+3that is EXACTLY the case. and also why this whole thing is so ridiculous.
As if, someone that is a convicted felon, and now holds the oh-so-reputable position of partisan-political-radio talk-show-host is less of a concern than, a man who was never convicted of a crime and has since become a well respected University Professor.
but then, the general consensus is that "righties" hate the well educated, so i suppose this is just standard-operating-procedure. - OddMoniker, on 10/06/2008, -1/+4I pray he does
- normlsparky, on 10/06/2008, -0/+3You'd think the McCain campaign could at least hire trolls who are a little more competent . They must be paying these guys minimum wage. There are also several trolls on YouTube, all with freshly minted accounts and clever screen names like NoBama or obamessiah, who seem intent upon providing the illusion of popular support for their failing party and candidates. It is funny, in a pathetic sort of way.
- ljfarrell, on 10/06/2008, -1/+4You must not be paying attention--the Ayers connection was brought up by Palin/McCain the day after the debate. She accused him of "palling around" with terrorists; McCain expressed a need to "turn the page" on the economic crisis so he can assault Obama's character.
The point is not that McCain is guilty of Liddy's indiscretions, only that McCain's playing this guilt by association game will not serve him well. Consider the Keating 5 scandal, the secessionist ties to Palin, her wacky witch doctor sessions, and McCain's ties to organized crime and racist, ultra-conservative groups, and you will see why this isn't the smartest tactic by McCain (not to mention hypocritical). - ErickStevenson, on 10/06/2008, -1/+4Yah I hope so too, for the good of America. McCain is a disgrace.
- jbond, on 10/06/2008, -2/+5WTF is happening? Are we re-living 1972? G Gordon Liddy vs the Weathermen.

- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -4/+6On a personal note: If Obama is a terrorist then sign me up!
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2BAN, and remove the picture of you and your boyfriend before your mom comes home from the whore house. I bet she's not into sharing your ass!
- TheInformer, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3There would be no McCain/Palin smearing stories then.
- 08soso, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Liddy didn't start with Watergate - that was his crowning achievement. That was his attempt to murder constitutional democracy. In any event, Liddy was a wet ops guy from way back. Since that stuff is classified, we'll never know how many murders he committed let alone planned.
- ErickStevenson, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3Seems like his rolling out the boulders, kind of funny, but sad that people still consider voting for this man and believes everything coming out of his ass.
- theonlybradever, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2ha!
"Thugs in the gov't", you mean like, ATF agents going after a known cult compound in Waco Texas? - dinot, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Does anyone else notice how these Republitrolls tend to post in groups? I love it when I'm checking out an article, reading the comments, thinkin.. "hmm... lol. that was great..." and then BAM! A whole wall of gray.

- theonlybradever, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2and maybe he, you know, broke the law.
- stonecircle, on 06/11/2009, -0/+2Cutting and pasting the same post in multiple different stories is pretty tacky.
- theonlybradever, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2@lajaw,
way to completely miss the point of this discussion.
If McCain is innocent of wrong doing in both the Keating 5 and Gordon Liddy incidents where McCain's ties are undeniable previously and currently, and individuals in both of those cases were FOUND GUILTY, then Obama, is COMPLETELY innocent in the contact he has had with Ayers, as the charges against Ayers were dropped, and you better believe that that's MORE INNOCENT than a guilty verdict clearly handed down in court.
get over yourself and stop apologizing for a campaign full of blunders by the GOP. - mattrmcg, on 10/06/2008, -1/+2http://uk.geocities.com/imfletcher73/liddy.gif
This Gordon Liddy? - Claverhouse, on 10/06/2008, -3/+4It's kinda easy for anyone jewish to take anyone on earth as an anti-semite.
- theonlybradever, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Palin would require an understanding of basic policies before she could ever effectively defend herself in an unscripted "debate".
it would also appear that Palin's the one doing the name calling.
completely missing the point, classic "righty" (hurray for me! i can generalize with the best of them!) -
