With Edwards Pulling Out, Mike Gravel is the Only One. Maybe
opednews.com — Supporting Mike Gravel is the only real choice that we can make. The thought of him becoming a player in the political arena would send a message to corporate America that we are not defeated.

- tom500k, on 01/31/2008, -1/+3Hell yes, Gravel has my vote not the crooks who comprises 99% of the Republican party and 98% of the Democratic party members in the Congress or the West Wing or in the Supremely Crooked Court. The only difference between the Speaker of the House and the VP is is that one wears pant suits; the other wears an evil grin and a suit.
- greevar, on 01/31/2008, -1/+7Gravel is the only candidate left that has a history of effecting real positive change and not paying lip service to get in office. I think he knows how to handle the situation we're in right now being that it's frighteningly similar to the Vietnam war. We need a president who isn't in the corporations' pocket.
- arunforce, on 01/31/2008, -9/+1You are an idiot if you vote for Gravel, even if he is the most promising. He doesn't stand a chance in the eyes of the general public, and if you are going to waste support by not voting for Obama and give Hillary victory, you are a fool.
- PeaceCzar, on 01/31/2008, -1/+7You are an idiot and a fool for not having any personal integrity or courage to vote for who you know to be the best candidate.
Wow, talk about empowerment and democracy... go ahead and cow before the corporate candidates. Obama is minimally better than Hillary, so wake up. They're both bought and sold by Wall Street.
Does Obama have the guts to stand up and end Iraq like Gravel helped to do during Vietnam. NOT AT ALL. - TrevaLVF, on 02/01/2008, -0/+3This is one of the undemocratic things that I don't like about partisan Democrats, which arunforce appears to be, judging by that post. Obama and Hillary haven't defended our civil rights in Congress. They aren't talking about civil rights during their campaign. They also aren't talking about ending this cycle of US foreign wars and US policies that create international tensions with the US, including bad trade policies. They aren't talking about bringing our jobs back to us. No wonder why the corporate media has given them a devoted spotlight, while ignoring Kucinich and Gravel.

- LosAngelesAG, on 01/31/2008, -0/+4 I agree, Gravel is the ONLY REAL Choice !
- CaptainCool53, on 01/31/2008, -0/+4Even if you don't agree with all of Gravel's stances (which I do), if he's elected, his National Initiative for Democracy would allow you to DO SOMETHING about it! Draft a bill with your representative, and make a difference. Why not give yourself more power in your government?
- brucemuir, on 01/31/2008, -5/+0Yeah, its sad but deep down inside we know Gravel won't win. Your heart might tell you to vote for Gravel but you should use your head and vote for Obama. A vote for not Obama is a vote for Hillary.
- CaptainCool53, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2That's how Democracy fails. Vote for who you want to be president.
Besides, a vote for Obama or Clinton is a vote for war. At the very least, use your vote to try to save some lives. Vote Gravel.
- CaptainCool53, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2That's how Democracy fails. Vote for who you want to be president.
- TrevaLVF, on 02/01/2008, -0/+4I considered the prospect of voting against Hillary by using Obama to do it. Yet, that would still contradict my objections to voting for the lesser evil. I've already committed myself to writing in Kucinich on my November ballot. I recommend that sincere Gravel supporters write in Gravel's name on the November ballot, too. I say the same for all the libertarian and libertarian-minded supporters of Ron Paul (Although, I take issue with some of Paul's position on some things which strike me as more conservative-minded, than libertarian). Make a statement, people. Especially if Kucinich and Gravel don't run on alternative party tickets after the primary, we can take the heat off them if we vote for them as write-in candidates in November, and direct it to us. That way, we can explain why we prefer our write-in candidate. It might make us unpopular with partisan loyalists that try to dictate to us which candidate they and the media insist we support, but that will spare these candidates the kind of hatred the partisan Dems feel for Ralph Nader.
Your primary vote can easily be canceled at the Caucus (in states that have a Caucus). Really, if you want Gravel, then contact your local Democratic Party office to ask where the Caucus is held and when. Then, get to the Caucus after you vote, or after the polls close (however it might be) and go root for your candidate. Maybe, you still have time to become a delegate, because that's the deciding factor in every precinct and district when the party's national convention is held for the nomination. - NathanHaleFTW, on 02/01/2008, -0/+3I'm a registered Republican, but I deeply respect Mike Gravel. If Mike Gravel and if it were Mike Gravel running against any "Republican" candidate besides Ron Paul, I would definitely vote Mike Gravel.
Power to the people! - TheSpook, on 02/02/2008, -4/+3Keep dreaming, y'all. He's not going to get the nomination, no matter how good he is. Those who get the nomination are the ones that are the best at campaigning, not necessarily the best for America.
- Athelwulf, on 02/03/2008, -0/+2No, the ones who get the nomination are the ones that the media decides to focus on. The media gives politicians free publicity, and that publicity gains them name recognition, which promotes more media attention. Positive feedback loop.
- CaptainCool53, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1That's no reason not to vote Gravel. The Democrats were supposed to end the war when they took Congress. It didn't happen then and it won't happen with a current Senator. Mike Gravel is the only antiwar Democrat. Not Hillary, and not Obama. Look it up, everybody.
- TrevaLVF, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1Actually, Dennis Kucinich is also been consistently against the war, even though he decided to transition out of the presidential race to save his seat in Congress and keep defending us. Kucinich and Gravel both were censored by the war profiteers in the media.
- De3po, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3I see a lot of people saying they like Gravel but think we should vote for Obama because they don't think Gravel will win.. I wonder if all the people who like Gravel not only voted for him but helped spread the word of him around if he would actually win?
- CaptainCool53, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3Even if I knew he would not win, I'd still vote Gravel. I cannot, in good conscience, vote for Obama or Hillary.
- De3po, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1same here.
- TrevaLVF, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1You should vote your conscience. I'm still voting for Kucinich in November. I might give Gravel my vote in the primary, because the fascists running the Texas Dem party (soaked in Big Oil) had banned Kucinich from the primary ballot late last year and Kucinich transitioned from the campaign. I won't vote for either Obama, or the Clintons either.
- CaptainCool53, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3Even if I knew he would not win, I'd still vote Gravel. I cannot, in good conscience, vote for Obama or Hillary.
- mahahaeng, on 02/07/2008, -0/+0I agree!
- TI3GIB, on 02/09/2008, -0/+0I absolutely agree with the title. Mike Gravel (or Ron Paul) are the only two that are offering a "positive" stance plan on things. Their policies intend to make things good rather than make things better, which is what Hillary-Obama-08 are publicizing well.
With the mainstream media cutting Gravel off of the debates, all of democracy should be at question. - freedomwv, on 02/19/2008, -0/+0Remember guys that Gravel is also a supporter of World government. I do give him props for wanting a world government controlled directly by the people. I like a lot of Gravel ideas and he should get back into congress in my opinion.
