Allowing them unlimited spending "freedom" in the political circus would be the second.
Campaign donations are not "free speech". Your vote and voice are. Not the money you donate. - ddoorn, on 07/05/2009, -1/+12OMFG...if politicians are EVER going to represent the will of the people we HAVE to keep Corporate America away from their bank accounts!
- charlie6969, on 07/06/2009, -1/+9I thought PEOPLE had first amendment rights; not CORPORATIONS!
In other words, the buying of politicians will be even more out-in-the-open than now. - charlie6969, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4AMEN!
- JoeParanoid, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1In point of fact, the original case that all others cite granting personhood to corporations did no such thing, it was just a misreading of the headnotes. Since that time, we have been royally screwed as subsequent decisions have ruled money as speech, thereby putting us in this devil's brew. The only constitutional amendment I would countenance would be to eliminate personhood to deathless entities. Wealthy individuals are already well-represented (in fact better represented than you or I am).
