- XxtraLarGe, on 07/03/2008, -0/+12Ron Paul has specifically said that his supporters should NOT do this. I'd recommend that all Ron Paul supporters either vote for Barr or Baldwin (preferably Barr) depending upon who has ballot access in your state.
- NorthMass, on 07/03/2008, -0/+9If Ron doesn't get the nomination Barr gets my vote. Ron still has a chance at the nomination, even though its a small one. Anyone who votes for someone besides Mccain/Obama who supports a non-interventionist foreign policy is cool with me though =).
- QuantumBios, on 07/03/2008, -3/+10Absolutely not because Ron Paul is not out of the race. Wait until the convention, and keep your eye on the march.
- oldbookguy, on 07/03/2008, -0/+6 Yes, Bob Barr, NO to Chuck Balwin. why? simple, though I am a christian the constitution party ALSO wants to (part of platform) legislate the Bible (ala the Huckster) into law, NOOOOOOO to this.
Even a vote for him would be advocating this. - inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+6We need to focus our votes on one candidate, so lets follow Ron Paul's advice and vote for Bob Barr!
- XanadooXeno, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5I voted for Ron Paul in the Texas primary. I will now be voting for Bob Barr in November. I could "write in" Ron Paul but I want my vote to count (we use electronic voting machines, my vote would probably just be deleted if I wrote in a candidate's name).
I want to send a message to Ron Paul (for him to leave the Republican party and join the Libertarian party) and I want to send a message to the Republican party (that we conservatives WILL NOT vote for a RINO candidate, Republican In Name Only). - Todash19, on 07/03/2008, -0/+5Make sure you check your state regulations. Some states will not recognize write-in votes.
- brad3378, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5Bob Barr and Chuck Balwin MUST have a debate and the loser needs to exit the race so they don't split the pool of voters.
- Robjayne, on 07/03/2008, -0/+4I heard a May interview of Barr that concerned me. I have not decided between Barr or Baldwin. I really hate that the Liberty vote will be split like this.
- Todash19, on 07/03/2008, -1/+5Bob Barr is no Ron Paul
I will be voting Chuck Baldwin for the following reasons....
• Barr is in favor of an interventionist foreign policy, arguing for intervention in Iran and South America, among other countries. Barr voted for the Iraq war. He praised Bush because "the surge is working." Chuck Baldwin believes, as our Founders did, that we should be a friend to all and avoid ‘foreign entanglements’. Baldwin has stated that if elected he would see to it that those who have been sent to fight the illegal, unconstitutional and immoral wars in Iraq and Afghanistan would receive orders to return home immediately.
• Barr voted for the Patriot Act, and favored reauthorization of that liberty-robbing set of laws. Chuck Baldwin has always stood against the Patriot Act as an unconstitutional power grab by the executive branch.
• Barr favors a national sales tax. Chuck Baldwin contends that does not reform our tax system, it merely re-orders the heavy-handed manner the IRS controls the illegal and unfair robbing of Peter to subsidize Paul.
• He’s held an advisory position with the ACLU- a group which has worked tirelessly to push anti- Christian and anti- free speech agendas
• While Bob Barr has publicly, at times, supported pro-life groups, sadly, in his private life, according to his ex wife, Barr encouraged the abortion of their child.
• Chuck Baldwin has been a vocal and steadfast defender of the sanctity of life- publicly and privately.
Bob Barr is no Chuck Baldwin and that is why in November it behooves liberty-minded Americans to vote for the Constitution and vote for the Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin.

http://www.dailypaul.com/node/53897Sorry, but this RP support will be backing Chuck Baldwin - inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Baldwin is a fine man, intelligent and principled, but his religious program will alienate many libertarian voters. We need to concentrate our votes.
Barr does not favor an interventionist foreign policy. He has clearly stated his positions and has moved away from the positions that he espoused as a Congressman. He took a couple of years to reflect on things and realized that he had been wrong. That is wisdom.
The person who does not learn and change (I give you George Bush as an example) shows hubris and bad judgement. The fact that Barr has learned and changed should be a mark in his favor, not a mark against him. - XxtraLarGe, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Yeah, my hope was that Paul would try to get the nomination of both Constitution & Libertarian Parties and run on a "Fusion" ticket. That would have had a huge impact.
- titlemikedotws, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3It'd be hilarious if Barr won with 50% of the vote and the others whacked up the remains.
Why vote for the lesser of two evils. If you lived in a land where 45% of the people worshiped the sun and 45% worshiped the devil, but only 10% worshiped your God, who would you vote for? - inactive, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3I hope that after the GOP Convention, that RP formally endorses one of the two, I suggest Bob Barr
- MikeF77, on 07/03/2008, -0/+3Why should Ron Paul supporters write in a vote for him when there is another candidate who is actively running for the presidency and stands for many of the same principles as well as a few better ones? The two party system is a broken system that has stagnated with too much corruption and too little respect for the people it represents. Over the years the two parties have basically merged in ideas and ideals: money and power. They are the ultimate monopoly. The checks and balances that at one time they were intended to provide have utterly failed. Regardless of which of the two win the election, there is one sure thing, nothing will change. Why should it? At any point in history since 1912 one of the two and sometimes both parties have governed our nation. How can anyone truly expect a change without actually changing anything? If you really want change how about the acceptance of a third party. How about fresh new ideas as well as a few about 250 years old? It would appear the current ones just aren’t working. The Libertarian party led by its presidential nominee Bob Barr can provide those changes. If you want real “Change you can believe in” or you want to get aboard the real “Straight talk express” look into this new party. If you don’t like what you see or hear and disagree with their views then by all means vote your conscience, but at least know your options, and that includes the ones the media and the Democratic and Republican parties don’t want you to know about. If I had my way we would have no party system and politicians’ salaries would be voted on by the people, but that is wishful thinking and a less than likely possibility. A three or four party system is not! So look into it and see what you think, it just may make more sense than you care to admit.
- Lordy1952, on 07/03/2008, -1/+4If Ron doesn't get the nomination Chuck Baldwin gets my vote. Constitution Party!!!
- titlemikedotws, on 07/04/2008, -0/+3If they did debate both sides will think they one. It seems to me Baldwin is not as supportive of social liberties as Barr is. Would like to know Baldwin's stand on online poker and marijuana.

From the Constitution Party platform: "Gambling promotes an increase in crime, destruction of family values, and a decline in the moral fiber of our country. We are opposed to government sponsorship, involvement in, or promotion of gambling, such as lotteries, or subsidization of Native American casinos in the name of economic development. We call for the repeal of federal legislation that usurps state and local authority regarding authorization and regulation of tribal casinos in the states."
Pastor Baldwin has made a number of anti-gaming statements:
* From a Baldwin article on the Constitution Party website, at www.constitutionparty.net/news_print.php?aid=36: "Can you imagine a nation without an A.C.L.U. or a N.E.A.? Can you imagine a country that did not legally murder its own unborn children and that would not pander to sexual deviants and criminals? Can you imagine a country without legalized gambling? Can you imagine a nation with strong state governments and an unobtrusive federal government?" Keep in mind that Baldwin didn't write, "Can you imagine a country where individuals each chose of their free will to not gamble". Rather, he wrote, "Can you imagine a country without legalized gambling". It seems he's imagining (and advocating) a country where the majority collectively assert rights over individuals in the area of all gaming. Additionally, the only way for there to be no "legalized" gaming in America is for the federal government to deauthorize Indian gaming (already in the CP platform), for all 50 states to ban all gaming, and for the federal government to expand the Wire Act. It seems that's what Baldwin is hoping/daydreaming/wishing for.
* From News With Views, at www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin239.htm (by Baldwin): "George Barna summarized his findings by saying, "Faith makes very little difference in their [Christians] lives: believers do not train their children to think or act differently [from the world]. It's no wonder that they [Christian children] grow up to be just as involved in gambling, excessive drinking, and any other unbiblical behavior as everyone else."
* From News With Views, at www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin380.htm: "Can you imagine a nation without an A.C.L.U. or a N.E.A.? Can you imagine a country that did not legally murder its own unborn children and that would not pander to sexual deviants or criminals? Can you imagine a country that did not glorify, much less sponsor, gambling? Can you imagine a nation with strong state governments and a limited federal government?"
* From The Conservative Voice, at www.theconservativevoice.com/articles/article.html?id=12718: "Beyond that, our nation has become addicted, yes, even obsessed, with sports, leisure, and gambling! Sports celebrities are more than icons, they are gods! Leisure is more than a pastime, it is the greatest motivation for living. It seems that all people dream about is having the financial ability to retire. By retirement they mean living a life without responsibility, duty, or obligation. In other words, a life of total self-absorption. And since most are unwilling or even incapable of earning such a life, gambling is the preferred method of obtaining this ultimate life of irresponsibility."
* From Renew America, at www.renewamerica.us/columns/baldwin/060117: "In our once great America, virginity and chastity were popular virtues, and one could live to old age and never be exposed to the abominations of homosexuality and adultery. There was a time in this great country when, except for a few certain morally corrupt large cities, the most egregious gamblers hung out in bingo parlors, and anyone who even whispered his or her support for state-sponsored gambling would be run out of town on a rail."
I've been trying to get a statement from the Baldwin campaign on their stance on Internet poker for the past month. I received a response from campaign manager Anita Andrews on Tuesday, 6/10, informing me that I'd receive a response within 48 hours. I received another reply on Thursday, 6/12 from B______ requesting another 48 hours to decide. She wrote "I promise to have something concrete to you by Friday night. Thanks a ton for the patience." Well, that's the last thing I heard from the campaign. I sent reminders on Monday, 6/16 and Thursday, 6/19 for a follow-up. It doesn't seem they'd require any time if they supported online poker rights. They'd just say, "yes, we support this".
I hope to hear back, at which time I'll update this guide accordingly. - MikeF77, on 07/03/2008, -0/+2BobBarr2008.com
- Robjayne, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1If that is all true I am with you.
- kekemortson, on 07/22/2008, -0/+1Although I like Bob Barr and the Libertarian Party, I also like Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party. I do not agree 100% with either party mind you, but a lot of their platform I like. I am going to support the one who has the best chance, and right now, that is Bob Barr.
- MikeF77, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1Then let’s unite the split vote. Don't fear voting; just fear the path we are currently heading down. It’s not too late but time is running out, and the pace is exponentially increasing...
BobBarr2008.com - voxtarri, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1I am also writing in Ron Paul
- MikeF77, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0Here is an interview of Bob Barr by Glenn Beck which tackles many of the issues facing us now and of which will undoubtedly be "Election Deciders"
http://www.bobbarr2008.com/media-center/play/93/ - markekeller, on 07/04/2008, -2/+2Any third-party or write-in vote is fine in my book. It'd be hilarious if Obama won with less than 50% of the vote, and McCain had only a quarter or so!
I'm personally writing in Ron. - Ymeg, on 07/03/2008, -2/+2I don't see how people consider Barr as a libertarian.
- lodwar, on 07/04/2008, -2/+1I,m Voting Mcain, Not because I like him but because I want to force Jesus' hand . he'll have to step in and save us right? right??..........
- Todash19, on 07/03/2008, -2/+1Barr favors an interventionist foreign policy.
If you watched the Libertarian convention, you would know the libertarian party was hijacked, similarly to the GOP.
Baldwin 08! - inactive, on 07/03/2008, -6/+3I would hope Ron Paul supporters realize that they can write him in as their candidate of choice. At least vote for the man you want to be POTUS rather than voting for someone who has a party sticker on their name.
Watching McCain tank will be priceless. It'll be a nice F U to Hannity, Limbaugh and the rest of the shills as well. Obama will get the nod and then we'll see what the Clintons do with him. ***** with the Clintons is a recipe for disaster.
