- SheilaNoya, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21They blow a lot of it on expensive high tech weapons. That's good for the industrial military complex who rakes in the huge profits, but it hasn't worked out so well, since primitive goat herders with homemade weapons are proving to be just as effective.
- DigitAl56K, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Congress hardly asks any tough questions about anything, when it does they're about unimportant things, and still nothing is done. American government is diseased - corrupt and dysfunctional. But it doesn't matter, because so are the people. The media doesn't do its job and the strongest action anyone takes on any matter is to discuss it. Just like me. Cya later, diggers. I'm off to bed so I can wake up and comment on whatever else Bush has ***** up in the morning.
- dogster, on 10/10/2007, -7/+16The CFR owns and operates most members of Congress.
Ron Paul is the anti-CFR candidate. Go to http://ronpaul.meetup.com to join the rEVOLution! - CounterConToo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11This has been going on as long as I can remember. After all, war is one of the biggest businesses on Earth. Always has been but it can't be so much longer because Mother Nature is forcing an intervening hand in climate change which is meaning big time re-allocation of resources.
- TheLoneHoot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7President Eisenhower warned us... and coming from a man whose life was spent in the military, administering at the highest levels and seeing first hand the effects of war (both on a human and economic scale), his words were worthy of heed.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7This question was answered over half a century ago.
http://lexrex.com/enlightened/articles/warisaracke ... - humanerror, on 04/03/2008, -0/+5They're too busy passing resolutions to condemn ads for websites
- Lebek, on 07/26/2009, -2/+6Why, because congress is cowardly and corrupt and will not perform their duty as a check against uncontrolled Executive abuse. Congress only seeks to represent party interests to remain in power, not to effect any real change or improvement, and most certainly not to represent the people who voted for them (however they do represent those who financed them).
- billbacon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5They just want their earmarks passed.
- TheLoneHoot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Maybe YOUR outfit barely turned a profit, but you'd be foolish to think that was exemplary.
- hiphoc, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6They are corrupt and making money off the war. Diane Feinstein-D comes to mind.
- csb92376, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Why isn't congress asking tough questions about Ramos and Compean?
Why isn't congress asking tough questions about border security?
Why isn't congress asking tough questions about habeas corpus?
Why isn't congress asking tough questions about the mortgage meltdown?
Why isn't congress asking tough questions about the rapidly declining value of the american dollar?
Is congress asking tough questions about anything?? NO. The current congress has a RECORD LOW APPROVAL RATE of 11%, lower than Bush!! C'mon people... your own congress is a collection of old, out of touch, self serving frauds who deserve nothing other than to be voted out at the next election. - Petrov101, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That's because the US removed the Taliban from power. Before the Taliban, opium was big business. They put an end to it. Now that they are gone, the farmers are going back to a good money making crop. I don't blame them. They have kids to feed too.
- chyya, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3if you had all this power and wealth, would you want to risk losing it by speaking up? i think not.
its the american way - adooga, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Because they're a bunch of thieves and warmongers.
Next. - fatcat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4I, for one, do not welcome our new political overlords.
- synthpop, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3congressmen need money to get elected and that money comes from the same people who made billions in profit from this war. The return investment on "financing" politicians (aka "bribes") is incredible, not only do they make billions from the war but they also get fat tax cuts that make sure other people get stuck with the bill.
- cfuse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Why? Because they don't give a ***** about you, your family or anyone you know. They put you in this ***** mess, and you put them in a position to do that.
Don't whine about it, fix it. Who would have thought that the most armed nation on earth would've turned out to be the biggest bunch of pansies - man up already! - Stryder81, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3It's all very simple people.
" Money talks, ***** walks " - Ekdog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Let's face facts. If the Democrats cut off funding for the war, the Republicans would mount a propaganda campaign claiming that the Dems. weren't supporting the troops and would blame them for having lost the war. The American voters--not exactly Renaissance men--would swallow this crap and the Republicans would hold on to seats in the House and Senate that they otherwise might have lost. I can perfectly understand the Democrats' strategy.
- TheLoneHoot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham-R also. 'Course he's now known on his cell block as Randy "GOATSE" Cunningham.
- drcoy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2When congress won't say anything because their spending on frivolous items far surpasses what the pentagon spends.
- avengingturnip, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3"Let's face facts. Blah, blah, blah. The American people gave power to the Democrats to change course and get the country out of this pointless, costly war. Being too scared to do anything is hardly a strategy. - Petrov101, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I've worked for multiple companies. Military work is not the same as commercial. Everything is under contract, before you build hardware. It's not like we build a bunch of F-22's and then let the market determine demand.
- galore, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Because the USA made the troops the holy cow and if a politician questions military spending, he'll be branded unpatriotic.
- bobthebruce123, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Answer: (FTA) 1. Money 2. It's complicated. "The nuclear debate was abstract, almost theological. It wasn't very hard to learn the basic arguments. It wasn't quite real; no one had ever fought a two-way nuclear war."
And...Congress absolved? - rcook18, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13. Lobbyists decide the budget. Anyone who has a problem with that will have to go to a re-education camp.
- NoobieDoobieDo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Um, because they are a bunch of stooges ?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2If Bush doesn't become a fascist dictator, we the people must focus on our elected officials and prosecute and remove from office those who shirked their duties. Let their voting record, acts and comments be their judge.
- MrXfromPlanetX, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I do believe Ron Paul is the only politician who is going to do something about this. He wants to bring all of our troops out of the Middle East, and he wants to bring our troops home from around the world. This is why there are international fan clubs for Ron Paul http://digg.com/world_news/International_meetup_gr ...
Hilary is on the Arms Committee and has never tried to do anything about this. Hilary voted for the Patriot Act and has not tried to repeal it. Barack Obama wants to increase our foreign spending by 50 billion and has talked about sending troops into Pakistan. Barack has not introduced legislation to repeal the Patriot Act.
Get the movie "Why We Fight" and watch it http://sonyclassics.com/whywefight/main.html This movie explains a great deal about what's going on. - heaven3, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2ron paul has been telling us about this industrial complex for years.they make stuff ,and then charge us again to destroy it.they are just laundring and stealing drug money as they always have. look at the opium production in afganastan,it went from none to 100% since we have been there.
- 2reflective, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Exactly. Cheney used to be a director of the CFR, but at the end of this short video he admits he never told the electorate that.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BbnpN07J_zg - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Seal the national debt level, then you see...
- drcoy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Heaven3 you are mistaken opium has been one of Afghanistan's biggest exports for ages. Also when you go from none to 100%, how do you define 100% because going from 1 to 2 is a 100% increase. You need to work on those math skills.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0They have not be educated, they've been indoctrinated into appeasement socialism, they don't know who "MAN" truly is !
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It's way more then that, voting them in or out will make no difference.
- Petrov101, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Are you suggesting Bush is trying to become a fascist dictator? You really think he can do that? Really? Not the greatest orator in US history... everyone thinks he's an idiot... doesn't sound like he has what it takes to become one.
- Petrov101, on 10/10/2007, -7/+0I work in the industrial military complex. We barely turn a profit. That is typical.
