-Gandhi - Divals, on 11/13/2007, -2/+60I'd rather be in hell with Gandhi than in heaven with Pat Robertson...
- atdigg, on 11/13/2007, -7/+50Who would Jesus waterboard? Good question....

Hilarious. - betterth, on 11/12/2007, -5/+46Real Christians are Liberal. :p
- pintomp3, on 11/13/2007, -6/+47pro-war, pro-death penalty, and pro-torture. seems like the only lives the christian right doesn't hate are zygotes.
- mkillion, on 11/12/2007, -2/+42I hate to admit it, but you are probably right in your assessment when it comes to the majority of those who identify themselves as Christians, but those viewpoints are far from Christ's teachings. There is a growing movement of Christians who reject the hypocritical positions of the majority and would rather love their neighbors than drop bombs on them.
- Darkhacker, on 11/12/2007, -7/+43Sleep is better for you than listening to a preacher talk about silly mythology and claim it as fact. I always get a really sick feeling in my stomach when I think that here we are in 2007, with cars, modern medicine, computers, space travel, and solid scientific evidence for our origins, and people still want to believe 2000 year old myths and fairy tales.
- eastypoo, on 11/14/2007, -1/+36These people aren't true christians. It's just a front to get votes.
- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -3/+30"Yes, but many of us have the discipline to do something on Sunday mornings besides sleep"
Well, you've got the self-righteous part down... - DRINKxREDxBULL, on 11/13/2007, -8/+34Don't bring you magic skygod into this.
- capiCrimm, on 11/12/2007, -1/+26correction, you have the self-discipline to get up and go sit and listen to someone read for an hour or so, you even get snacks. Maybe you should try jogging?
- bdrocker, on 11/14/2007, -1/+24Jesus wouldnt get involved in politics. They tried to get him involved in a number of situations, and each time he refused. From Luke:
“Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” 23 But He detected their trickery and said to them, 24 “Show Me a denarius. Whose likeness and inscription does it have?” They said, “Caesar’s.” 25 And He said to them, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” 26 And they were unable to catch Him in a saying in the presence of the people; and being amazed at His answer, they became silent. - kurttrail, on 11/12/2007, -3/+24Ah, the Jack Bauer generation!
And how often do you think your little scenario plays out, besides on TV? - Jassman, on 11/12/2007, -1/+22From evilbible.com:
Jesus on slavery:
1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT - "Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them."
Jesus on slave beating:
Luke 12:47-48 NLT - "The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." - inactive, on 11/14/2007, -14/+33Perhaps neocon-republican, or fascist-republican, would be a better classification. Ron Paul, a conservative republican, denounces torture no matter the situation.
- bcarl314, on 11/13/2007, -3/+22Jesus was a Liberal!
- SOS84, on 11/12/2007, -1/+19I recently read a review of a CD on Plugged In (a Focus on the Family website) that ridiculed the artists because, and I quote, "the singer apparently considers war to be evil." And I thought evangelicals believed in the Bible, silly me.
- bcarl314, on 11/12/2007, -0/+16Yeah, how retarded is that statement. Every time I go to church (which granted, is not EVERY Sunday, but I make it 3 out 4 times a month) everyone shakes hand, does the "glad to see you" crap, then as soon as father says "This mass has ended" all that ***** goes away. People nearly get run over in the parking lot - only 5 mins after mass??? WTF is that? Then I see people at the grocery store 15 mins later being abolute pricks to the cashiers, and staff.
Way to go Christians - way to "live the life".
The most self-righteous of all Christians are those who go to mass / worship EVERY Sunday. - offspring06, on 11/12/2007, -1/+16Anyone who is pro torture is not a real Christian. Jesus would not approve of torture.
- nullnvnvnv, on 11/13/2007, -4/+18The old testament God was a psychotic genocidal maniac. Then fatherhood mellow God out. Plenty to pick and choose if you want to torture/kill - God is both for it and against it according to the bible.
- DrTall, on 11/11/2007, -4/+17Ummm...I know he endorsed the concept of slavery, but can you show me the passage where he mentions beating them?
- satx, on 11/11/2007, -0/+13Let's not forget anti-euthanasia...
- spyd3rweb, on 11/11/2007, -0/+13This is just completely stupid if a terrorist has a bomb thats going to kill hundreds of thousands hes not going to give it up for an hour of torture.
- FrankButcher, on 11/12/2007, -1/+14Todays "Miss the Point of Irony" Award, goes to you!
- 16x9, on 11/12/2007, -0/+13I wouldn't worry about it too much. If there is a heaven, I very much doubt that Pat Robertson and his ilk are going to be allowed anywhere near the place.
- nicksauce, on 11/12/2007, -0/+13The Democrats started WW2? That's gotta be the stupidest thing said by anyone... ever. Congratulations on your prestigious claim to fame.
- Fallout911, on 11/12/2007, -5/+17I used to be a right wing neo con Christian fundamentalist.
I know how these people think and they are dangerous almost to the point of murderous.
Their level of hate (Which I felt for about 3 years of my life) is just as pure as those of the Muslim extremists.
I believe that they would joyfully partake in the extermination of those that simply refuse their ideals or like myself completely abondon their bigotry and hatred.
As for me I was tired of being afraid of a God's constant angry judgement.
The judgement of my thoughts
The judgment of my actions
The judgement of those that I associate with
And the judgment of the non Christian woman which I ended up marrying.
To those in here that live in this fear... Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word shall not fear but live a full and joyous life in the company of those that he choseth. -Fallout911 - inactive, on 11/12/2007, -2/+13Effective or not, it's mind-boggling to think that we could condone such behavior. How can we oppose the torture of our own soldiers when we ourselves torture?
- carpespasm, on 11/13/2007, -1/+12shoot, if the magic skygod can convince people that it's not a good idea to "almost" drown people until they say whatever you want them to while evidence and testimony from anyone who's tried it won't convince them, I'll take what i can get.
- kingkilr, on 11/12/2007, -1/+11I'd just like to say, that yes a lot of religious people are ***** in the head, however religion doesn't have to be all bad, I was at Jewish services yesterday for a family friend's Bar Mitzvah and the Rabbi spent most of his time talking about the miracles of modern medicine and organ/tissue donation(apparently it's national donation weekend or something)
- wolfboy2883, on 11/12/2007, -2/+12Torture is an abomination unto the Lord. Never forget that it was jealous, blind, and ignorant humans who tortured Christ for speaking of God's love. Just like in the Gospels: the leaders of the people manipulate the masses into performing such lurid acts. [FYI I'm not talking about the Jews here, as they weren't to blame for killing Jesus. It was a few of their leaders who went insane with jealousy and hatred. Indeed the Jews as a whole liked the Jesus that they met in the streets. Likewise. Our leaders are insane with hatred and ignorance, and they're trying to get us to accept torture. Well we will have no such thing. This Republican party hasn't a Christian bone in their body. Torture is blasphemy.]
- inactive, on 11/12/2007, -1/+11Torture is wrong under any circumstances. If something is wrong for moral reasons, then exigent circumstances don't change that. It reminds me of people who only rape others when they are REALLLLYYY horny.
- lolwaffle, on 11/03/2008, -21/+31Jesus endorsed beating slaves, so maybe he would be A-OK with water boarding.
- nicksauce, on 11/12/2007, -4/+14The Democrats started WW2? That's gotta be the stupidest thing said by anyone... ever. Congratulations on your prestigious claim to fame.
- bratpack8, on 11/12/2007, -2/+12It's very easy to place people into groups. I'm a Christian but am against the war, against torture, am not a Republican or Democrat, so is there a 'group' for me?
- inactive, on 11/12/2007, -2/+11I can attest to the same background as an former attendee of Liberty University in the mid 90's. During my tenure as a Christian Conservative I saw more racism, bias, sexism and judgment passed than any other period of my life. Moreover, Christianity is one of the most dangerous religions with regards to recruitment. Next to the Hari Christnas in airports I know of no other organization that sends it's members out to "witness" and recruit more heavily. To each is own is not a sentiment Christians can have when it's their view that those who are not with them are lesser people with lower morals who are condemned to a some form of damnation. And regardless of what argument is put forth, this is their position.
Only after traveling to other countries outside the US did I see what real tolerance and compassion for others meant. It is preached but far from practiced in the US.
I saw a license plate frame last week that summed it up. It said "Blessed and Deserving" - LOL - pintomp3, on 11/12/2007, -1/+10even jesus advocated separation of church and state. try telling that to conservative republicans.
- trippinlikegod, on 11/12/2007, -3/+12You mean like the words in the bible?
- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -5/+14Any Christian or Catholic who endorses torture and waterboarding, Robertson and Giuliani is making their own reservation in a place that Catholics call purgatory.
Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet got it right when he said, "Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it; and this path is virtue, uprightness, faithfulness, holiness, and keeping all the commandments of God."
How can we find happiness if we support politicians who uphold torture? - cecinestpasvrai, on 11/11/2007, -1/+10http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhetorical_question
- GMorgan, on 11/12/2007, -1/+10So that people can get away from true believers.
- inactive, on 11/12/2007, -1/+10I think it was on the eighth day, right after creating the duck billed platypus. Drugs were involved.
- sonstone, on 11/11/2007, -2/+10Me too, but the reality is that we are in the minority and are not representative of the mainstream western Christianity that the majority see broadcasted to them an a regular basis.
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -1/+9Whether it's here or on Fark, you're always acting like a little bitch.
- inactive, on 11/12/2007, -2/+10Christianity is self-fulfilling hypocrisy. As is any religion who's members will kill or offend in support of their god.
- jkizzle, on 11/11/2007, -1/+9true, but catholics are the only organized group of christians large enough to make their voice heard without having a million different people trying to get their word in..
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -1/+8Your own retarded leaders chopped America's balls off. So stop trying to blame the liberals for it.
- jamdogg, on 11/13/2007, -4/+11"Forgive them father, they know not what they do" - JC as he was getting nailed to a piece of wood.
