- Dumbledorito, on 06/16/2008, -4/+78A "country of laws," indeed.
How does anyone still support this president and those around him? And now any future president can do the same thing and use this as a model.
Way to go, GOP. Hope the benefits you think you reaped from the last 7 years was worth it, because it's going to be a long, hard road to undo the damage. - e68895f, on 06/16/2008, -4/+56well, looks like cheney can secretly order that penis enlargement after all.
- nesquikr0x, on 06/16/2008, -4/+53Isn't there supposed to be a system of checks and balances in place? If I'm going to be subject to the patriot act, I also expect to be able to protect myself from my government. A judge ruling for a section of the government to be immune to the act is unacceptable. Big Brother, anyone?
- nonsequitor, on 06/16/2008, -3/+49This is appalling. As a US citizen, to have our own government so arrogantly insult us over and over is infuriating. This is just like the congressional subpoenas to white house staffers all over again.
- Donoram, on 06/16/2008, -2/+43How come every time I see a political news story about the U.S. it seems to be about either the election, or the government vs the citizens.
Just once I'd like to open up a newspaper here in Canada and read the headline; "U.S. Government lowers taxes, lays off the patriot act and buys everyone a kitten" - MattB123, on 06/16/2008, -2/+39Hooray for liars and cheats!
- DonSlice, on 06/16/2008, -3/+37Boo. Hiss.
- Quaterni0n, on 06/16/2008, -6/+37I bet a large sum of money was recently transfered to Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly's bank account.
- WraTH017, on 06/16/2008, -2/+32Shocking! The White House getting away with it? That almost never happens.
[/sarcasm] - GorfTron, on 06/16/2008, -2/+30The running of the US government is no business of the US citizens. Got that?
- ironeus, on 08/01/2008, -2/+28Perhaps the records about the "missing records" are missing and nobody wants to admit it. At least that is better than saying the Office of Administration is immune from the Freedom of Information Act.
- philodygmn, on 06/16/2008, -2/+25Doesn't anyone care that simply _not using_ the _official_ email system to be archived and publicly available is in itself a felony?! This whole case is evidence that it's been committed! Hellooooooo?!!!
- LeepII, on 06/16/2008, -1/+24Since the NSA copies every email sent via the internet why don't they just pull those copies?
Oopppsss oh yea, Americans aren't supposed to know the NSA dose that. - pintomp3, on 06/16/2008, -2/+23who are they supposed to serve again?
- pintomp3, on 06/16/2008, -0/+201. has nothing to do with net neutrality
2. when you hold a public office, the work you do is not private. there is no privacy issue. - jbird32275, on 06/16/2008, -4/+23I'M SURPRISED!!! /sarcasm
- whatthehell9, on 06/16/2008, -1/+20nah, both Parties play all too well with each other. They may say a lot is going to change, but in the end it is all the same and We the People get screwed.
A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government. ~Edward Abbey - JCPahl, on 06/16/2008, -2/+21Utter criminality. Our Founding Fathers led a revolution over less than we put up with today.
- m60dude5, on 06/16/2008, -1/+19I'm trying to figure out how the government "magically" lost hundreds of emails, yet if someone "stumbles" upon a government server they'll be outside your house with the FBI in under ten minutes. I bet you they never "lost" those emails. With the amount of backups they do they probably found it, looked at it, knew it was gonna cause problems, and clicked "Delete Forever". On Purpose.
- jynweythek, on 09/17/2008, -4/+20This is unacceptable. In a Democratic Republic like ours it is essential that our government have a high degree of transparency. Barack has been campaigning on this point, I don't think the other campaigns have mentioned transparency very much if at all, hopefully this will improve in the future as the internet becomes a part of everyone's life instead of just the younger generation.
- EricSchC1, on 06/16/2008, -0/+16Good luck finding an email of confirmation though!
- bsmang, on 06/16/2008, -5/+21Impeach!
- androo002345, on 06/16/2008, -0/+15How many IT guys to cover up criminal acts you ask?
At least 1337. - NVMojo, on 06/16/2008, -2/+16This is sick. This country's leadership is beyond corrupt. I can't believe this nation sat by and let these crooks do whatever they want all these years. Imperialism for sheep!
- JM0ney, on 06/16/2008, -0/+13Unfortunately, it was ruled that the memo didn't have to be released either.
- tylermenezes, on 06/16/2008, -1/+14How do you even tie that into net neutrality? Privacy, maybe, but really? Epic fail for you, sir.
- nblsavage, on 06/16/2008, -2/+14This is the same judge that handed out the toothless "punishment" to Microsoft. Surprise, surprise.
- aspec, on 06/16/2008, -0/+12But really, how many IT guys have to be thrown under the bus to cover up criminal acts documented in emails?
- an0nymous, on 06/16/2008, -1/+13I believe the judge was incorrect and that an immediate appeal needs to made.
You say that you agree with this ruling. Why do you feel that the the Office of Administration is immune from the Freedom of Information Act? - benecere, on 06/16/2008, -0/+12You're dealing with a big Catch-22 there. Being subjected to the patriot act just about ensures that you can never protect your self from the Patriot Act, which they say exists for your protection.
- aladrin, on 06/16/2008, -0/+12Except the kitten. I've already got a cat and 1 is enough.
- SpudgeBoy, on 06/16/2008, -0/+11Do you know what the hell net neutrality is? It doesn't have anything to do with privacy. Really, people need you to support net neutrality, but at least know what the hell it is. Please.
Sorry, there is no such thing as privacy at work. the presidency is a job and we are the employer. Please also study up on the Constitution. - brainflakes, on 06/16/2008, -2/+13Ignorance is Strength
- jgzman, on 06/17/2008, -0/+11See the Hatch Act and the Presidential Records Act. Hatch Act requires that Official and Personal activities be separated, (separate e-mail accounts) and the PRA requires Official data to be preserved.
So, not ALL e-mail, but official e-mail on the official server, personal e-mail wherever you want. Never the two shall meet.
Took me a whole 120 seconds on google. - bridow, on 06/16/2008, -5/+15maybe the next administration can find them...
- nblsavage, on 06/16/2008, -1/+10Themselves. Didn't you get the memo?
- CyphreDias, on 06/17/2008, -0/+9We need Ron Paul and others like him to run for office in every city, county, state and for federal office. YES, I KNOW THIS WILL GET BURIED, BUT IT IS TRUE.
- EricSchC1, on 06/16/2008, -1/+10No, just criminals to lose.
- benecere, on 06/16/2008, -0/+9Buried for inaccurate bury of accurate title.

- vinwal, on 06/17/2008, -0/+8Did anyone honestly expect anything different from these treasonous scum?
- dafragsta, on 06/17/2008, -0/+7I swear, the Bush administration took their practical application of spousal abuse and applied it to the American citizens.
"Where are you going to go, huh? You don't have any money and you aren't going to leave your family behind. You are NOTHING without us! Get in the kitchen and make us a pie, fatty!" - Lancelot9201, on 06/17/2008, -0/+7Further proof that there are some in Washington who would like to see the Freedom Of Information Act go away completely. In the mean time they'll just chip away at it with ridiculous decisions like this one..Sad, So Sad..
- Swordman554, on 06/16/2008, -0/+7Freedom is Slavery
- zepher5150, on 06/16/2008, -2/+9What' the freaking point..Bozo the monkey would just pardon whoever gets convicted. Just ask Scooter Libby.
- Dumbledorito, on 06/17/2008, -0/+6He's not going to tell you because that would violate his privacy.
- benecere, on 06/16/2008, -1/+7@ OffPiste: Yeah!! No America!.You win! No Constitution, You win!
Boy howdy, did YOU get snowed somewhere along the line. - riverrunner, on 06/17/2008, -1/+7It's treason - then.
