- itzdiceman, on 05/14/2008, -30/+87A lot of people don't know this, but all republicans have a weather machine in their basement. They used it to cause Katrina in hopes of wiping out minorities. It's completely their fault.
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -19/+72165 years of Democrat led State, local, and levee legislatures who recklessly failed to prepare for the "big one" didn't have anything to do with it either. It's all Bush's fault.
Being a Demorat is so easy! - eMximeR, on 05/14/2008, -2/+48"On August 29, 2005, John McCain was celebrating his 69th Birthday with Bush. Hurricane Katrina made landfall as the pair enjoyed cake together."
I'm an avid democrat and a strong Obama supporter, but I'm not sure I understand the problem here... McCain was unfortunate to be eating a cake as the hurricane came down? Was he supposed to predict it and stop it? - Sovereign2142, on 05/14/2008, -3/+47Isn't the more important question where was Bush when Katrina made landfall? I never knew it was the job of an Arizona senator to handle disaster relief in Louisiana.
- Jhiaxuz, on 05/14/2008, -2/+37Where was Obama? Infact, where was everyone else in Congress?
If you're going to do it to one, at least do it to them all. - alexm1309, on 05/14/2008, -8/+38MCCAIN SHOULD HAVE FLOWN INTO NOLA DURING THE HURRICANE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD IDEA
- inactive, on 05/14/2008, -0/+26Ask the last five governors and mayors where they spent the 8+ billion dollars for levee improvements.
Now ask how many raises did the LA legislator give them selves in the same time period. I think the answer is over 10. - Dibou, on 05/14/2008, -5/+30Shhhh. Don't screw with the minds of Democrats by stating facts.
We have the duty to forget about all those state Democrats who totally screwed up, especially the mayor of New Orleans. The media has beaten it into our heads that it is ALL BUSH'S FAULT! Everything is. - GalacticXenu, on 05/14/2008, -0/+26WITH HIS BARE HANDS.
- 10ofDiamonds, on 05/14/2008, -2/+27This is ridiculous. I am going to get dugg down but screw it. What was he supposed to do people? Stand in New Orleans and blow the hurricane away? This was on Aug 29 as, or maybe even before the hurricane landed. So you democrats can excuse the local and state government is La. for not being prepared; but you're going to impune now, not just George Bush, but a senator from an entirely seperate state? Democrats(liberals?) are sheep, just like republicans(conservatives?).
- Handout, on 05/14/2008, -1/+23How dare that bastard have a birthday.
Who does he think he is. - mailclient, on 05/14/2008, -1/+22And your point is ?
- Dibou, on 05/14/2008, -4/+27Just when I think Obamaites are scraping the bottom of the barrel they surprise me by digging one layer deeper into their filth.
- muckemuck, on 05/14/2008, -19/+40....and yet when he swung through that area this Spring McCain blasted Bush for not reacting to Katrina and not getting to NOLA quickly enough. What a dud.
- DonSlice, on 05/14/2008, -2/+24Where was Obama?
- DrHoliday, on 05/14/2008, -2/+19I don't like McCain either but what does an Arizona Senator supposed to do for Louisiana's plight?
Granted, maybe he should have worked to send some relief in the form of fundraisers or something, but it isn't as if he neglected some great duty. I know for sure my Senators didn't do jack ***** for Katrina.
There are plenty of good reasons to rail on Senator McCain - this is not one of them. - 10ofDiamonds, on 05/14/2008, -0/+16My sentiments exactly.
- AllYourBase3, on 05/14/2008, -4/+22lol, this is a bit of a stretch to be upset about. Where was Ron Paul? Probably telling the people there it was against the constitution to help them
- mbauer14, on 05/14/2008, -1/+14You know what, you are right. McCain should have stopped eating cake, and done something about it. I hear if you go on shore where the hurricane is supposed to hit, you can yell really loud. The hurricane will get scared and dissipate.
- bs0l, on 05/14/2008, -2/+17I agree, where else should they have been? Once a natural disaster hits, there's not a whole lot to do until it's over, or lets up. You can't blame everything on Bush + McCain for Katrina, it was a whole slew of problems that were not dealt with properly, before and after the disaster.
- ThePenrod, on 05/14/2008, -2/+15Oh my god, McCain was in New Orleans when Katrina hit. He was the second shooter.
- willaggs, on 05/14/2008, -3/+17I want to digg you twice. Crazy liberals ignore the facts the same as crazy conservatives. I'm just glad I'm somewhere in the middle.
- 10ofDiamonds, on 05/14/2008, -2/+15In my opinion tats the problem with people who cry out "where is the federal government!?" Take some God damn responsibility. (I am not just saying this about the victims, I blame local government of NO primarily).
- Bkaufman, on 05/14/2008, -4/+15Its fun to point out liberal idiocy.
- megaton, on 05/14/2008, -0/+10Chuck Norris could hav...
nm. - TGMD, on 05/14/2008, -1/+11I'm sorry, but he's a ***** senator from Arizona. I don't see why he had to be involved at all with hurricane katrina?
I mean you guys are really grapsing for straws here. What did you expect him to be doing? Leading a ***** helicopter of supplies in himself? punching Brownie and taking over Fema?!
Senators don't have that much power guys, they're legislators, NOT rescue workers. - AlxRymnd914, on 05/14/2008, -1/+10was gonna come in here and say that....but yea.....wats the point of this
- GalacticXenu, on 05/14/2008, -6/+18This is a ***** outrage. I, as an Obama supporter, am not shocked and surprised that the Republicans would stoop so low. Every American that celebrated their birthday on that fateful day, anyone, be them politician or dishwasher, banker or janitor, should be ashamed if they so much as told a joke when that history-altering hurricane hit. It's too bad Obama wasn't in office when Katrina hit, because he probably could have CHANGEd the course of the hurricane or stopped it altogether.
- DaDrake, on 05/14/2008, -0/+9A big problem during Katrina was the inaction of the State, not the federal government. The federal government can only act with permission of the state, or they are acting illegally. More money has been giving to Katrina victims then any other disaster, and much of it has gone down a crap-shoot. The fact is, the leadership (especially the mayor of New Orleans) were incredibly ineffective and did more harm then good.
- Dibou, on 05/14/2008, -1/+8I thought they were looting at the time in New Orleans.
- Dibou, on 05/14/2008, -7/+13And misquoting and lies are the Democrat's job as evidenced by your 100 year distortion.
- viserov, on 05/14/2008, -1/+7This might help clear things up for you:

Why vote for Obama when McCain can BATTLE WEATHER? - Ryan166, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5And what were WE doing? Sitting on our mom's couch with a bag a potato chips watching the weather channel. That really helped save lives.
- davidg11, on 05/14/2008, -3/+9Just curious, what happened in the olden days. You know, the days before modern technology? Oh that's right. People fended for themselves and didn't blame the govt for acts of God. This is what happens when people get too reliant on govt.: they become lazy and don't help themselves.
- cameronpenn, on 05/14/2008, -23/+36The picture was taken during the height of the disaster. No one is suggesting Bush and McCain literally caused the hurricane. What offends some people is the idea that you would celebrate a birthday, have some cake, do a photo op with the press, give a speech on a topic unrelated to Katrina, all while American citizens are on their roofs as a flood surrounds them, crying out, "where is the federal government!?"
- haxderek, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5thank you!
- noseeme, on 05/14/2008, -1/+5HOW DARE HE have a birthday party planned on the day Katrina hit!
- dgaspard, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4Some good did come out of Katrina. Jindal and other republicans are now electable.
- TheRealToma, on 05/14/2008, -7/+13Interesting. I went searching for 'where was obama hurricane katrina' and found this.

Tho, Im sure he was patrolling the skys of Metropolis in a cape when it hit either. Kudos to Obama :) - glialisback, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6I was drinking beer and I live in Louisiana. At the time my state and New Orleans was being run by a couple of typical dumbass liberals. But don't worry, the rest of the U.S. will get a taste of true incompetence when you elect Obama.
You lay so much blame of our so-called problems on Republican and the Bush Administration. The true power lies with Congress, who has been majority Democrat for several years now. What have they done? - aresef, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5The thing is, you think McCain would be like, hey George, how about that hurricane? Then again, it's not McCain's job to tell Dubya what his job is. Dubya should have known that.
- GalacticXenu, on 05/14/2008, -1/+5In office as president, naturally, I don't mean his Senatorial seat.
- empraptor, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6To be fair, McCain wouldn't have been able to fly in there on GWB's birthday - day that Katrina hit Louisiana. When the picture was taken, neither probably knew the kind of havoc Katrina was creating. At least I would hope not.
- ElSnuggles, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6Come on now, this is pushing it.
Where was anyone when New Orleans was hit? It doesn't matter. Bush was the one we should hold responsible for that mess, not McCain. - GalacticXenu, on 05/14/2008, -1/+5Beautifully said.
- dgaspard, on 05/14/2008, -1/+8I live in New Orleans. I think the problem is most people were saying "where is the federal government?" They should have done as I did, got a hotel for a few days. Come home and got to work. Then made a claimed insurance a few days later. Yes it was hard. Yes it was inconvenient. But I'm not going to die in my attic like a roach either. With that being said. It wasn't Mccain's problem about Louisiana. It was the local politicians that failed. With that being said. Bush is an idiot. Mccain just hasn't had a chance to disappoint me yet.
- JasonCox, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6I'm a Democrat and I'm willing to bet that Obama, Clinton and your buddy Ron Paul werent there on that day either.
