As far as gov't bailouts are concerned I do know that a board of directors can override a CEO, so for all I know it wasn't his choice. I suspect there were a lot of imports coming in that didn't help their situation.

- IslandJeff, on 04/29/2008, -0/+4The Republic lacks leadership because the well has been poisoned beyond Constitutional magnitude: no enterprising, creative, productive entrepreneur dares enter "Public Service" because there is much more substantial reward in the private sector. Only sycophants and academics can afford the pay cut and can tolerate a left-wing incessant media/PR offensive. As long as the Private Sector remains a step ahead, caveat emptor. The Constitutional Republic is lost - but we can still, as a people, mitigate the damages of socialism.

Democrat and Republican "leaders" are more often followers, holding focus groups, catering to the Op Ed pages to see which view point will most likely get them reelected for another 2, 4 or 6 years.
Leadership means placing yourself out front of an issue and offering a solution, based on your knowledge and experience The idea might not be viewed as the best by the majority, which is why we are a representative republic not a democracy, So time the ideas are a stroke of genius, Reagan and the fall of the Soviet Union. Sometime a disaster, the Great Depression and the New Deal which may have deepened the depression. but it was an untried idea and we had a president who decided to lead. Our so called leaders have castrated themselves to insure their ongoing power and wealth and egos while enslaving the sheep like voter masses
