- kaelyiesta, on 12/27/2008, -0/+7Earlier in his campaign(around july I think) Obama had made some statements indicating plans to gradually reduce the punishment for possession, and instead use rehabilitation. I was fairly excited to hear another politician(after Dr. Paul) supporting the start of decriminalization. But more recently he has withdrawn even this support for marijuana decriminalization and his official stance has returned to "President-elect Obama is not in favor of the legalization of marijuana." Sigh.
Even ignoring many of the contradictory positions he has officially taken, I'm doubtful he will do too much. He strikes me as being opportunistic. When political pressures allow, he can afford to do the right thing that makes him look good with the public but when his political backers and enemies are too much trouble, I suspect he resorts to speech making and referring to slow compromise instead of making any meaningful changes. - Rothbardosaurus, on 12/29/2008, -0/+6I wish more jurors knew what you know.
- NeoBanned, on 12/28/2008, -0/+6I'll second that! The jury is the last line of defense against rogue prosecutors and stupid laws.

- inactive, on 12/28/2008, -0/+4If I'm on a jury in a pot case ,,, it's NOT guilty !
- Rothbardosaurus, on 12/29/2008, -1/+5Silly liberals. Didn't they know they should have voted for Ron Paul if they wanted to decriminalize marijuana?
- kemp34, on 12/29/2008, -0/+4I want to be on jury duty. They never pick me.
- smotpoker, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1If they don't mind the idea of potentially losing half or more of the public support and protections they already have*
We would be much better off voting Kucinich. - guntario, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1@ Rothbardosaurus
I meant to say that I agree with you, but I guess it came out wrong :) - guntario, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1I think history has shown itself to be quite accurate when it comes to the definition of liberalism. Liberals were once what the Republicans pretend to be now. We can see that human nature is only human nature, whatever guise the human uses to cover their humanity.
- Rothbardosaurus, on 12/30/2008, -1/+1Where do you suppose I got my handle from? *I* know what the actual definition of liberalism is. For the sake of being understood in a country where the word has been hijacked by social democrats (communist-lite) who are frequently portrayed as strong on civil liberties, I'll use the colloquial definition.
