- wissler, on 05/22/2009, -15/+275My estimate of Maddow just went up 100-fold.
- JoeyNine, on 05/23/2009, -14/+270Okay, I am a conservative who feels that the Republican party has lost it's true, shall I say, Goldwater principles, hence Bush being an ultimate failure. That being said, does anyone feel that perhaps the people who voted for Obama are going to start to feel disenfranchised by this mans actions, which seem similar to Bush in many ways?
I guess what I am saying is, I have a feeling citizens that vote from both sides of the aisle, being sick of all the corruption, are going to come together and kick all these ***** out and truly get back to the constitution and the true meaning of the USA in a more non-partisan way than ever before. - theantirobot, on 05/23/2009, -21/+249Now the Democrats will know how so many early Bush supporters felt.
- inactive, on 05/22/2009, -22/+244You KNOW you're in deep doo doo politically when your biggest media ally turns on you.
- Waiting2awake, on 05/23/2009, -14/+192Well America, can't say you weren't warned about it. So now the mask is off, the facade broken and the illusion of the two party system lays naked before many of you....
- had3l, on 05/23/2009, -16/+170Unlike the conservative pundits at Fox News, she is faithful to her ideals, not to parties or talking heads.
- joshthegreat200, on 05/23/2009, -13/+140WTF? I voted for this guy?!?!?
- jgubbe, on 05/23/2009, -24/+139Obama flops on my early pension withdrawal promise and sticks me another bit of money I needed to pay my debt. Obama ***** about being clear and transparent. Obama laughs at honest questions about marijuana. Obama keeps taxing seniors. Obama keeps lying through his teeth. Clear and transparent, huh. What is he doing about Bush and Co's torture program besides covering. Pulling out troops? What happened to ending the war immediately??????
How can he stand there so bold faced and speak such *****. Just another politician. ***** dog you know. I mean he has the most honorable job on this planet and he doesn't stand with honor and integrity. He stand like a politician, bold faced and full of *****. For civil rights my ass. - inactive, on 05/23/2009, -11/+120Holding people without charge because they might, in the future, commit a crime? This is a disgusting proposal, Mr. Obama. I am ashamed to call you president of the United States.
- alais, on 05/22/2009, -36/+143Wow... who was that and what did she do with Maddow?
- blubolt, on 05/23/2009, -18/+120same-old-same-old - anyone who voted thinking he was going to change anything in a substantial way is going to be seriously disappointed - government intrusion into our daily lives will only become more and more apparent.
Don't blame me - I voted for Ron Paul - bmcgrew, on 05/22/2009, -12/+108I thought the media was not supposed to talk about corruption in politics until it was too late....maybe it is? :(
- dusty7969, on 05/23/2009, -7/+84Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain
- magic6435, on 05/23/2009, -14/+89how the ***** is anyone surprised by this?
- JoeMondo, on 05/23/2009, -10/+80Spoken from ignorance. Maddow has often been critical of dems, when their actions call for it.
You people just can't understand people true to principle rather than partisanship. - cambob76, on 05/23/2009, -8/+74I think people will start to turn on him. I think many people are still drunk from the Obama kool-aid punch. I didn't buy into the hype because I know the US government is owned by corporations and Obama is just another member of "the team".
- lead2thehead, on 05/23/2009, -30/+95During Obama's campaign, I remember asking everyone why they were voting for him. Most Obama supporters could not name a single policy he supported. Instead, they just said something stupid like "change". Well here's your change, dumb-asses. Maybe next time you should ask what the changes are going to be.
- henrikakselsen, on 05/23/2009, -8/+68It's time to send some copies of the constitution to the white house again. This is serious.
- theaceoffire, on 05/23/2009, -3/+59Actually, I am glad that people are standing up. It hurts that Obama would consider something like this, especially since it goes against everything that America is supposed to stand for.
Here's hoping someone talks some sense into him, and he gets back on track. - inactive, on 05/23/2009, -15/+70Yeah, you should have listened to all the "Paultards" when they were telling you Obama is a crook.
I mean, did you not get a little bit suspicious when this black guy comes out nowhere and is propped up by all the corporate media? - dbbblondon, on 05/23/2009, -22/+76The Obama Deception talks about how he is a middle manager directed by the Bilderburg Group and leading the world into slavery, I don't want to believe it but this speech only makes me believe that more
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7886780711 ... - quirkopatra, on 05/23/2009, -8/+60They should be asking questions. It's about time. Maybe too late.
- martinherrera, on 05/23/2009, -3/+54i voted 3rd party so don't blame me
- irvin666, on 05/23/2009, -1/+50Freedom of the press at work.
- kanojo1969, on 05/23/2009, -0/+45There's a big difference between people who voted Bush in 2000 and then regretted it, and people who voted Obama in 2008 and are now regretting it.
When Bush was elected, there was no 9/11 and terrorism and the rule of law were not election talking points. Nobody in the race of 2000 had a position on these things because they just didn't exist. I could never have dreamed that a president would break so many laws and violate so many basic rights on the citizens and enemies of the USA.
But now, all these things were big election issues. Obama has considerably bigger balls to do this because it goes against everything he campaigned on. And as maddow points out, his balls swell even larger because in the very same speech has handed out donkey punches to Bush & Co for their policies, while announcing policy every bit as evil.
Honestly, I think the Obama voters have every right to feel a lot more disappointed now, than the Bush voters did in 2002 and onward. This guys was elected almost entirely to turn this particular ship around, and now he's going full steam ahead at a pace that Bush wouldn't have tried.
What's really going on here? Who is pulling the strings? I doubt Obama really wants to do this stuff, it's so negative it will set his relationships with the citizens back to square one. So who is he selling this to and what is he getting in return?
Regardless, it's nothing but bad news and it means the next president will be free to do even worse; this won't be an election issue next time 'cos we will have learned that it doesn't matter. - inactive, on 05/23/2009, -5/+43True, but some people had confidence that he would reverse Bush's policies that trampled the constitution. Unfortunately, he has only expanded them.
- ThinkBox, on 05/23/2009, -52/+90Obamabots Assemble! Bury Away...
- b0tterman, on 05/23/2009, -15/+52 I'm a big Obama supporter from way back. Still am. But I have to admit, if this were a Republican doing this, I'd be pissed and worried. This is really troubling. No it doesn't mean that Obama is really secretly some..whatever the hell you right wing nuts think... but it does make think we have to join Maddow in voicing our absolute opposition to this. If I have to leave the dem party, so be it. But we have to stick to our principals and not be blind robots like those on the right.
- avengingturnip, on 05/23/2009, -4/+40Actually worse. Bush/Cheney kept the detainees overseas where they were thought to be outside the protections of the Constitution. Obama is saying that we should just ignore the Constitution and set up long term detention in the U.S.
- 5urr3al5am, on 05/23/2009, -6/+40So obama is doing exactly the same thing Bush/Cheney did? wow .. the liberals lose out.. again
- MrFunStuff, on 05/23/2009, -3/+35I agree we need to stick to our principals.

Expanded war in the middle east.
Support warrantless wiretapping.
Supports extraordinary rendition.
Bails out giant corporations.
Who am I talking about?
And McCain supported and would have done all of these thing, if he had won.
Stop voting for the two puppet system. - cambob76, on 05/23/2009, -8/+39Here come the FEMA camps... j/k Or.....
- mohsenxp, on 05/23/2009, -10/+41Thank you thank you thank you.
Finally people realise this. - mohsenxp, on 05/23/2009, -5/+35Give it time. We will all realise that a politician is a politician is a politician, whether black, white, democrat or republican.
- inactive, on 05/23/2009, -0/+29peaked
- WellOkayThen, on 05/23/2009, -3/+32I'm shocked by the number of people who are shocked to discover that some people don't believe a wrong can become a right just because of the party initial after a name. (Or because of religious denomination, or skin color, or position of authority, or any other tribal identification.)
- martinherrera, on 05/23/2009, -7/+35well, what did you expect from a guy who supports extraordinary rendition
- Ghoztt, on 05/23/2009, -0/+28The perfect illusion - a secretly unified oligarchy with one tool to achieve their own ends:
DIVIDE & CONQUER. - existing, on 05/23/2009, -1/+29"...the illusion of the two party system lays naked before many of you.... " - Never doubted its existence for a second.
- spo0oky, on 05/23/2009, -7/+32To paraphrase as I understand it: Obama -"Those previous guys sucked, really bad, and I will do better." followed by "I'm the president, bitch!"
- Maddoktor2, on 05/23/2009, -16/+41Where were all the rightwing complaints about indefinite detention when Bush was in office?
- mikelieman, on 05/23/2009, -1/+25I just don't see how a Constitutional scholar would seriously believe this scheme would actually be implemented.
I'd like to see if anyone falls into this category, or if he's just getting ahead of the nitwits who contend that you can't give due process.
I'm thinking -- now that David Iglesias has revamped the military tribunals process ( excluding evidence derived from torture, crazy rats looking to cut a deal, etc... ) I'm thinking most, if not all, will end up getting turned loose.
BUT
You'll have the nitwits crying about the "Dangerous Ones" who can't be put into the US Criminal Justice System... What we're going to find out after Iglesias is done is -- there are none -- and this "indefinite detention" scheme is just a pacifier to get the Wingnuts to STFU.
I could be wrong, of course, Obama DID vote for retroactive telecom immunity for spying on innocent US Citizens -- after saying he wouldn't -- so he ain't perfect. Hell, Clinton kept Mitnick for 5 years, didn't he? - JoeMondo, on 05/23/2009, -8/+32They were too busy sucking his balls to criticize him.
I'm proud of Maddow for sticking to principle rather than partisanship. - VitriolAndAngst, on 05/23/2009, -11/+35Good Proof that Progressives are not lock-step like Conservatives.
I voted for Obama but I can't defend this "Bush-like" claim to powers. My only hope is that this is a move to force the courts and congress to strike down the Bush claims. They either have to swallow this "pre crime" nonsense or strike it down -- either way, Obama wins.
Otherwise, Obama is naive that he can just move on and not Prosecute Bush era crimes -- you can't build a house on a toxic waste spill, and the many crimes of Bush scream out for justice. Otherwise, Obama is going to have to continue the crimes. - danro, on 05/23/2009, -1/+25I voted 3rd party too, I wasn't going to vote for either of those clowns. And Spooksmcgee, why is it a waste of a vote? Maybe if the rest of Americans would wake the ***** up and realize that the two political parties of America are corrupt right to the core then we wouldn't keep putting our hands on the burners and wondering why it hurts.
- phillymatt, on 05/23/2009, -1/+24Absolutely. It's been an ongoing string of stances and comments like this that have woken me up to the fact that this administration is like all the rest. Politics as usual.
- MrFunStuff, on 05/23/2009, -3/+26@JoeMondo
Barack Obama voted for the Reauthorization of the Patriot Act
and
Barack Obama voted for the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act which gave telecom companies AT&T and Verizon immunity to lawsuits from the ACLU for handing over everyone's phone records without a warrant
Before he was elected and your saying you put the Constitution before your party?
Please don't say you voted for the lesser of two evil, there were more than two people running. - john2kx, on 05/23/2009, -4/+26Are there still people that think Republicans and Democrats are any different?
Ron Paul, 2012. Hopefully by then, people will understand. -
