- ordig, on 12/21/2007, -7/+80If we don't impeach, future generations will look back on us with disgust.
- headt0thebunker, on 12/21/2007, -7/+73Memo to bigtrees.....you can only hope.....Wexlers website is pretty new....and there are an awful lot of people who really do hate that crook in the white house....
Sure there are some fringe idiots like yourself that probably think he doing a great job....but I think most of the Americans...most True Americans....not the neo con wing nut phsycopaths like yourself.....really are worried about the direction of this country...
Now I'm sure you already have your NAZI swastika tattooed on your forehead, and are really looking forward to the rest of us joining you......but I think the rest of us are little less inclined to meet you out there on the fringe.....
I'm just going to hope that some of the elected officials begin to understand there will be repercussions for not impeaching two KNOWN criminals and maybe a couple of them might even grow a spine and do something about it..... - savetheusa1, on 12/21/2007, -7/+67Impeach the *****!
- headt0thebunker, on 12/21/2007, -4/+41Oh BTW.....ah...can you still hear me out there on the fringe?
Anyway....just thought you might like to know another American added their name to Kucinich's bill to impeach.......that makes 24. Gee I wonder how fast they will jump on the bad wagon when that number starts getting bigger.......Nobody wants to be left out on the fringe ya know what I mean? - hawkeye17, on 12/21/2007, -7/+41No you are the lunatic fringe. /wave
- dgh1973, on 12/21/2007, -5/+37It still astounds me that Clinton was impeached for an extra-marital affair while these fatheads remain untouchable.
Dugg and signed. - dreamtiger, on 12/21/2007, -4/+33Visit http://www.wexlerwantshearings.com/ and add your signature. They are pouring in at nearly 1000 per hour now! Don't want to get on Cheney's sh*tlist? Our only hope is to make it a mighty long sh*list.
- thebellmaster1x, on 12/21/2007, -2/+31Hell, I already look upon my own generation with disgust.
- mrASSMAN, on 12/21/2007, -3/+30Interesting, the lunatic fringe appears to be defined by you as the majority of the population in the country you live in. So which side is the 'fringe'? The 70% of America that wants to kick the criminals out of the white house, or the 30% that want to keep them there?
- rockdawg, on 12/21/2007, -6/+32This is AWSEOME and about time!
- UrbanOne, on 12/21/2007, -0/+21"We never impeached FDR..." Exactly. Which is why we need to impeach Cheney and then Bush. So, in the future, people don't say, "We never impeached Cheney and Bush..." We need to set the standard. This is not about living in the past, it's about living for the future. If we don't protect our Constitution today, we won't have it tomorrow.
This is not a time to pretend there are more pressing or important issues. Bush & Cheney's oath of office demands that they "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic". The President and Vice President have not fulfilled their oath of office. They must be removed from office, as should any other official who does not fulfill their oath. We do not have the right to NOT seek impeachment. If we decide to not act, especially in a case that so clearly demands action, we are setting a precedent to allow future elected officials to continue to degrade their office and subvert the Constitution, the very same Constitution that they have sworn to support and defend. - tommymctom, on 12/21/2007, -0/+21and what does 9/11 have to do with the war in iraq?
- Pherdnut, on 12/21/2007, -0/+20Hahahahaaa 4000 Americans dead, allies alienated, terror a BIGGER problem, civil liberties in ruin! 9 Trillion in debt. Whoooo! And the only guys who have anything to show for this mess is Halliburton, who got plenty of tail in the only way those ***** know how and will have a very nice set of stock options waiting for Dick when he gets out of office. WHoooooooo wheeee! But those boys sure got some balls.
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -0/+19That doesn't make Iraq a threat to the USA. Nor does it justify the illegal invasion of Iraq. Nor does it make Al Queso a serious threat to the USA. Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany were real, actual threats to other nations including ours. A few Arab criminals running planes into buildings just isn't. Again, get real.
- Schneckehaus, on 12/21/2007, -5/+23Let me guess, Bill O'Reilly told you this?
- inactive, on 12/21/2007, -3/+20FDR also was in a real war, not some nonsense about some tiny nation that is somehow a threat using invisible, magic weapons. Get real.
- kevxross, on 12/21/2007, -0/+16Yeah, the difference is that time we went after the people behind the attack.
- bluesnowmonkey, on 12/21/2007, -4/+20There a LOT of people in DC who have committed a LOT of crimes. I have this nagging feeling that even if we managed to impeach and convict both Bush and Cheney, it would be this titanic, and the nation would be so exhausted from the effort that we would get tired of hearing about all the other corruption left behind.
If you're upset about the war in Iraq, don't lay all the blame on Bush. Congress can get us out any time they want. They always could. They don't want to.
How do we impeach all of Congress? - inactive, on 12/21/2007, -1/+15Yes, I am saying that ***** that happened 65 years ago is probably not germane to the crimes that George Bush has committed in office. I'm saying that bringing up crap from 65 years ago only makes you guys look more foolish than usual. I'm saying get real.
- pintomp3, on 12/21/2007, -1/+14why is was there a federal grand jury over a blowjob in the first place? how about having a federal grand jury about the war?
- darkciti2, on 12/21/2007, -0/+12My family just buried a time capsule that will be unveiled in 75 years. I had to write a letter to future generations to include in it. I wrote a description about America as it exists today and a description about the freedoms that we enjoy today and the things that our Founding Fathers dedicated their lives to.
It was a long letter and I ended it by saying that I would not let them down and that I will dedicate my life to preserving the civil liberties that we enjoy - that we do not have to show "national papers" (aka ID cards); etc.
I won't be alive in 75 years, but my promise to them will... - ChristPissed, on 12/21/2007, -0/+10Silly Chickenhawk, not out on the frontlines fighting for the glory of your Führer? Your lack of patriotism is shocking.
- lukifer, on 12/21/2007, -7/+17Today's fringe is tomorrow's mainstream; the seed of the yin is contained within the yang. We can and will hit critical mass on this. For great justice.
- sirjimbob, on 12/21/2007, -2/+11WHAT THE ***** IS CONYERS TRYING TO SAY HERE?!?? WTF?
http://www.democracynow.org/2007/12/20/to_impeach_ ...
AMY GOODMAN: Why stop short of hearings on impeachment?
"REP. JOHN CONYERS: Well, because, unless we’re going to impeach the Vice President and the President within this space of time, I think we could be very seriously compromising the greatest important—most important thing, in addition to documenting any misdeeds that may have happened, whether we continue to have Bush enablers continue to shatter and tear the Constitution to shreds. And so, all of this, academically, is great. I’ve got a number of books from my friends about which articles would be best and which ones we should go after more. But it seems to me that the time element and also the feasibility of whether or not there is any possible chance of success—there is a very stark reality that with the corporatization of the media, we could end up with turning people who should be documented in history as making many profound errors and violating the Constitution from villains into victims. And those are the kinds of considerations that have entered my mind in thinking about this process, Amy."
Stop worrying about your own asses Democrats. I don't care if you are worried that impeachment proceedings might scare a few swing voters away from you in 2008. You have an obligation to check the balance of power of the other branches of government. - fluoro, on 12/21/2007, -0/+9"We need to set the standard. This is not about living in the past, it's about living for the future. If we don't protect our Constitution today, we won't have it tomorrow."
This is well-said. While OffPiste's comments were correct, he seemed to be using them in such a way as to argue, "Well, we didn't impeach FDR and Bush is doing the same kind of things FDR did, so we shouldn't impeach Bush either." All kinds of violations of the Constitution have been going on since WW2, including every single "war" that has happened since then. Rather than say it's okay for Bush to do what he's doing since he's doing what has been done by presidents before him, we should impeach him now in an effort to keep future presidents from doing it again. Also, in addition to that we should respond to people like OffPiste by saying we're not the same citizens who were around during FDR's time, so the mistakes of that generation don't bind us to continue making the same mistakes again. - fluoro, on 12/21/2007, -0/+8OffPiste, you're probably right. But why give up just because we assume it's going to fail before it begins? The point here is that we believe the Administration has done something criminally wrong here. It's not a blowjob with a fat chick this time. It's countless deaths. It's countless amounts of taxpayer money being wasted. It's the obvious lying and deception that's been going on. Torture. Refusal to admit that torture is torture. It's making us all not proud to be Americans.
I think if we don't try to force our congress to impeach, we're doing ourselves and our children a huge disservice. If you just say, "Oh they'll be out of office soon and it'll all be over" then you're a ***** blind idiot. The ***** they're doing isn't new. And this won't be the last time some US administration tries to do this ***** if we take the position of letting them get away with it. And that's what is really important about trying to impeach. Punishing them for criminal behavior is of almost negligible importance compared to the duty of trying to stop future administrations (either Democrat or Republican) from doing the same type of stuff. - inactive, on 12/21/2007, -2/+10"How do we impeach all of Congress?"
at the ballot box - JoeRW, on 12/21/2007, -0/+8Yep, if there was punishment for disgracing the white house for Clinton, there should be punishment for subverting the constitution for Bush/Cheney.
- darkciti2, on 12/21/2007, -0/+8You're just trying to take a few Democratic seats in the Congress to keep your corruptass President and his buddies from getting indicted.
You know damn well that the brand new Congress can't get anything done while Bush veto's everything.
Nice try, though; and very typical of a Republican liar and cheat.
You are what's wrong with this country, and we're going to clean you out in 2008.
Democrat across the board in 2008 - it's better than the past 7 years of Republicans (across the board: White House, Congress, etc) - udahlen, on 12/21/2007, -0/+7During Watergate, America showed what a great democracy it was. Even the President wasn't above the law. What has happened to America now? The President lies and routinely ignores the law, and (almost) nobody cares? Is one horrible terrorist attack all it takes to bring down democracy?
- lhbaker, on 12/21/2007, -0/+6By definition, a lunatic fringe cannot be represented by a majority, meaning Bush supporters are the fringe group here.
- darkciti2, on 12/21/2007, -2/+8America is NOT 50 / 50 on the political spectrum. Nice try, you Republican shill. The only way you can keep your Evangelical Christian Republican base interested in politics is to tell them they have a 50 / 50 chance.
Also, digg is simply a societal aggregate. It's not a group of people clicking in unison. It's a complete spectrum of people from all walks of life.
You must be a typical Republican salesman...
Sorry, we're not buying it anymore. - mrASSMAN, on 12/21/2007, -5/+11Lunacy? THIS. IS. DEMOCRACYY!!!
- andrgo, on 12/21/2007, -0/+6Yeah, why are you on Digg wasting your time bashing Democrats instead of fighting in your war?
Bush lied and you know it. I don't hate Republicans, or anyone else for their political affiliation, but when people lie and screw up our country it pisses me off. In 2001 Bush had a clean slate and had the chance to become a good President, now it's practically unanimous amongst Americans, regardless of their party, that he's one of the worst, if not the worst President ever. - valkyrie123, on 12/21/2007, -1/+7Clinton got a BJ and impeachment was happening. Dubya and Co. has killed over a million innocent people, destroyed two countries, destroyed the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, hell he’s done everything but rape and kill babies on the White house lawn, and impeachment is considered “the Lunatic fringe”. WTF is it going to take?
- fantasticFlan, on 12/21/2007, -2/+8It was the Colbert Report and yes, he went along with a joke.
- UrbanOne, on 12/21/2007, -2/+8This is not about partisan politics. This is about upholding the law and the Constitution. With all the evidence, do you really think we have the right to NOT act? That's like someone committing a crime in front of a police station, and the cops saying, well, we won't look good if we arrest them.
- roystgnr, on 12/21/2007, -0/+643% of Americans (according to polls, not "projecting") is not a majority, but it is not a lunatic fringe, either.
I suspect if the latest poll questions hadn't been limited to the false dilemma "Cheney should not be impeached" vs "Cheney should be impeached and removed from office", support for impeachment would have been even higher. The country is polarized, but hopefully not so badly that there aren't people willing to say "Cheney should be impeached, and then either removed from office or not depending on the results of the impeachment investigations". - fluoro, on 12/21/2007, -0/+6Yeah, we effectively impeached half of Congress during the last elections. That's why we went from having a Republican majority Congress to a Democrat majority Congress. The problem is that they're deliberately not doing what we voted them into office to do.
So here's the real question: if you kick out the entire Congress for not doing what you want, and then you get a new Congress that still doesn't do what you want.. then what next? There's clearly something really b0rked in the system when you can't ***** FIND anyone who can run for office and will actually do what the people want. - inactive, on 12/21/2007, -0/+5Your deliberate conflation of capital punishment and torture reveals the *real* motivation behind the latter. Clue: it isn't information gathering. You reveal the psyche of the anal-retentive extremist Right Winger: that of the violently immature, lashing out at any and all objects of threat, projecting your own desires and fears into an objectified enemy. It really is so easy to pick apart the rudimentary malformed psychology of the stunted personalities that push this ideology. Thanks for opening up.
Execution is a humane and just end to the lives of mass murderers and war criminals. It may be the only capital punishment that is truly justified. - darkciti2, on 12/21/2007, -2/+7Define: Irony
Bonus: "spot the Republican" - thebellmaster1x, on 12/21/2007, -5/+10Ho-HO, you got us there, bucko!
- darkciti2, on 12/21/2007, -2/+6The Republicans know that they've lost the White House. They are trying to save face by preventing a majority of Democrats in the Congress.
They know that a Democratic/Progressive President and a Democratic Congress will crucify BushCheneyCo and their pro-Oil corruption.
They are trying to trick the American people into removing the Democrats that can't do anything because the Republican President Veto's everything, so they can take a few seats in the Congress.
The bottom line is that Republicans are trying to trick people into thinking that the newly elected Congress isn't doing anything, knowing full well that they CANT do anything because Republican George Bush is preventing them from doing anything.
It's a typical (and shameless) Republican tactic.
The bottom line is that Republicans have been in control of the President and the Congress for the past 7 years and our country has gone to *****.
The only solution is a completely Democratic government in 2008 for at least 2 years. In 2010, we can evaluate the Congress and if they are not doing their job, we can vote in a new party. - inactive, on 12/21/2007, -0/+4LOL
Figures a rightard would try to tie PEARL HARBOR into Iraq.
Talk about being completely out of touch with reality.
It's amazing to see how their brains make these insane connections. - Pherdnut, on 12/21/2007, -1/+5The only time I've seen anybody bring up coke use is one GOPer forgets Bush's history and says something dumb about Obama having tried it when he was a teenager. If somebody's brain got ruined by drug and alcohol abuse, it sure wasn't Obama's.
- Shellius, on 12/21/2007, -0/+4Let's start with Pelosi and work our way across and up.
(Future generations will look back on us with disgust? This one does. Mine does.) - Speed, on 12/21/2007, -1/+5It should also be mentioned that FDR wanted to join WWII earlier, but didn't because Congress said no until Pearl Harbor, and FDR didn't want to violate the constitution.
- darkciti2, on 12/21/2007, -2/+6I bet my Republican Homosexual Pedophile Scandal clock is more accurate than your digg watch.
You guys are shameless. You attack Democrats because you have ZERO achievements.
It must be sad to be a repeated Republican failure. Maybe you guys should reconsider your views on life. - inactive, on 12/21/2007, -0/+4Yeah, it almost registers when compared to right wing corruption and scandal.
Do we need to post the ridiculously long list of GOP crimes again?
Or will you right wing asshats at least admit you KNOW about the crimes?
Why it it whenever the word hypocrite comes up Spaza shows up?
What's the matter, did your JamesSpaza account get banned for being an ass?
Shouldn't you have enlisted by now, so you can put your money where your mouth is?
Like most of the right wing you must've figured out it's better to be a coward on the couch than a soldier in the Iraq. -
