- Kajico, on 02/09/2008, -9/+179I don't think the Republican party knows what it means to be Republican anymore.
- katie212, on 02/09/2008, -55/+210Stand firm and stand with congressman Ron Paul
- LeadOffMan, on 02/09/2008, -9/+132reaching out to the anti-McCain people, I like it
- steelersfan7roe, on 02/09/2008, -39/+126omg. democrats. what a horrible thing to be.

- Kr4t05, on 02/09/2008, -3/+79Does anyone else think the two-party system is completely defunct? The governing of our nation has degenerated into a spectator's sport, or worse, reality television. Rather than actually making progress and solving the issues, we're picking sides and complaining about how horrible we think the other side is.
George Washington, the ***** George Washington, was opposed to a party system, as he felt it would create too much dissonance between the factions and lead to so many petty disagreements that our nation would utterly break down. Now, looking at this headline, it's scary to see that his warning is still valid over 200 years later.
That's why I'm proud to be a registered Independent. That way I don't have to deal with the stereotypes and misconceptions of either major party. - wishninja, on 02/09/2008, -15/+65OH ok then I guess I should just sit at home and cry and watch the USA burn to the ground then. Ron Paul may not win the presidency but he is gathering more power. He isn't going anywhere. That is what is important. He is also building lineage with his son and grandchildren. He is also building a coalition. I do not see any reason not to continue to support the revolution especially since he is up for reelection in his district. Hell Kucinich has already dropped out and he is still getting on the front page almost every day. I will continue to fight for Paul and support these ideals for the rest of my life. I will vote for whoever I want. Someone has to stand up to these CFR asswhipes that want to sell us out. Someone has to stand up for our freedoms. Someone has to be the voice that yells for the Drug War to end, the globalism to end, the destruction of the constitution to be followed. You obviously think this is like some petty game of dress-up where you are a part of it just to be in fashion, well its not. I have been out of style before way way more than this.
- ZenFountain, on 02/09/2008, -5/+46Dewey and the Rockefeller Republicans tried to adapt the GOP to win elections in the wake of FDR. Although Dewey never won an election himself he was responsible for brokering in Eisenhower in 52', defeating Taft for the last time. Taft's wing of the GOP had one last ride with Goldwater and one need only look at the results of the 64' election to see why that mistake was never made again. This is an old battle in the GOP dating back to T. Roosevelts Bull-Moose split, however most of the liberal Republicans (yes, they used to be a major component of the party) now call themselves Democrats while many of the values voters and Dixiecrats have flipped to the GOP. Party platforms are not etched in stone for all eternity and there's a reason why Paul is careful to not go too far back into the annals of GOP history because somewhere back there is a man called Abraham Lincoln. Shhhhh...did I say that?
- soulmantim, on 02/09/2008, -6/+44There are a lot of them lolz
- rspeed, on 02/09/2008, -6/+42That's exactly the point he was making. The Republicans in power are not conservatives any more. They're supposed to be "tax less and spend less", which is much more responsible than "tax and spend".
- MurphyWatson, on 02/09/2008, -7/+43Well, acting like a democrat isn't going to magically balance our economy, atleast not from McCain, the guy admitted to not knowing a damn thing about economics, he WANTS to continue Bush's failed policies.
When it comes to fiscal policy, McCain is like all the other Republicans. - wishninja, on 02/09/2008, -14/+47As long as he still speaks the truth I will always support the good doctor.
- abduktedtemplar, on 02/09/2008, -2/+32that's the problem. stop voting for who you think is electable. vote for the right man(or woman just not Hillary) for the job
- Napoleone, on 02/09/2008, -7/+37Ron Paul's view of the draft: "I believe wholeheartedly that an all-volunteer military is not only sufficient for national defense, but also preferable. It is time to abolish the Selective Service System and resign military conscription to the dustbin of American history." http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul353.html
- martinherrera, on 02/09/2008, -37/+67well ***** guys, i voted for him in the primaries, but it's not looking too good now. I don't think he has a chance to get the nod
- Napoleone, on 02/09/2008, -10/+39Ron Paul: "It's much easier to address foreign policy, rather than our domestic spending, because although it might be unconstitutional THAT'S NOT THE PLACE TO START. You can't start on attacking people who have become dependent, after we have taught this for so many years."
It's also rather naive of you to believe he could easily implement those policies. He would have to work with the Congress, and those are issues on which they would likely not budge; he's said as much himself.
Also, that quote was from the MTV debate. A student asked him if there would be a draft under his presidency. Paul responded in absolute terms that there wouldn't be. When they asked Obama the same question he said, "I don't forsee there being a need for a draft. The army's in good shape."
Only one candidate recognizes that your life is yours alone, and no one else can put it on the line for you. And it aint Obama. - RuffRidr, on 02/09/2008, -27/+55Yes, the eroding of our constitutional rights is a bad thing.
- SolsPolaris, on 02/09/2008, -21/+48"Like Democrats"? No, McCain IS a Democrat.
- wonderboy, on 02/09/2008, -7/+33Are you serious? The whole point of digg is for the users to 'digg' articles they want. If you want to hear about McCain, then go right ahead and digg those stories. Get enough people who feel the same way and it makes the front page.
- bigj480, on 02/09/2008, -8/+34Many of his supporters frequent the net and digg, should they not discuss what is important to them? Also, RP may not win the election, but the main goal is to spread the message. The awareness of the constitution, especially from young people, has been affected to a great degree. It's a beautiful thing IMO.
- dinsy, on 02/09/2008, -2/+27all but one
- alvinrod, on 02/09/2008, -7/+32Considering Republics are supposed to be fiscally conservative and against invasive foreign policies, then yes, I would say not acting Republican has ***** up the country.
- jjmckay, on 02/09/2008, -3/+26I think that's the point Paul is making is that the dramatic growth in the size of our federal government is not only unsustainable, it's long been a central pillar of what the Democrats wanted. They are now getting or about to get much of what they wanted like government run health care, subsidized (by coercion) prescriptions for the elderly, increased taxes (it will happen again because of our astounding debt level) and much more. I grew up in the 70s and 80s and I clearly remember the democrats very much wanting a strong centrally controlled society and that is what we are getting and also that is what Paul speaks out against.
- tg16, on 02/09/2008, -9/+32I agree with that statement. I want a choice between two directions our country can go when I go vote, not just one direction. It seems like because the cadidates have so much in common in ideology, we really end up with one choice. It's almost like a dictatorship, except the dictator changes every four to eight years. That's why I liked Ron Paul. Ron Paul vs. any Democratic candidate would've made for a great national debate. Now, we really only have minor issues we can debate on. I would've voted for the Democratic candidate anyways, but more polarizing candidates would've made the parties bend more on policies and really blow open the discussion positive change for our country.
- fraglessone, on 02/09/2008, -7/+29"There are no blue states and red states, only the United States"
- Obama's writing staff - Ajajadude, on 02/09/2008, -24/+45The funny thing is that between the past 3 presidents, 2 of the 3 had deficits, and they were/are the conservatives. How exactly is McCain being too much like a Democrat a bad thing? Democrats are the only ones who seem to know how to balance a budget.
- robwowjo, on 02/09/2008, -5/+26If you stand firm with Ron Paul for more than 4 hours, please contact a doctor.
- PhillAholic, on 02/09/2008, -4/+24That's what I like to hear. I'm tired of being told I'm waisting my time and money supporting Paul. I too will vote for whoever I like.
- XopherMV, on 02/09/2008, -26/+46Democrats are supposedly the party of "tax and spend". At least that is financially responsible.
The Republicans haven't been financially responsible in over two decades. Ever since the time of Reagan, all the Republicans have done is borrow and spend. Now our formerly great nation owes multiple trillions of dollars to foreign countries. It's so much that it's not likely to get paid off in my lifetime. And it's all thanks to the Republicans who spend like a drunken sailor all while cutting taxes. China now owns us because of this Republican *****.
***** Republicans and ***** conservatives. - treeflappa, on 02/09/2008, -3/+23yet his wife is in the cfr?
- tao52nyc, on 02/09/2008, -1/+21“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.” - John Quincy Adams
- NightVortez, on 02/09/2008, -6/+25I support Dr. Paul and digg articles on him that I find interesting, I don't care whether he can win or not, I'd rather vote for someone I agree with then someone I don't but am told that he/she "chance in winning" if you don't feel the same way, create topics on digg about other candidates.
A couple of days ago digg's USE08 section was full of nothing but Obama news, I don't support him based on a lot of his votes, did I bury the articles or complain about them being posted? No, why would I? They are obviously created for those who actually do support him and care. - steelersfan7roe, on 02/09/2008, -5/+23i wonder if i was dugg up because people knew i was being sarcastic or if they thought I was being serious.
- hyperreal, on 02/09/2008, -1/+19http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoconservatism
- tech42er, on 02/09/2008, -1/+19Yeah. We have "tax and spend" Dems and "tax cut and spend" Reps. Neither is going to seriously shrink government, because that would probably require privatizing or cutting some social programs/entitlements, which would probably be politically disadvantageous. At least the Democrats make it well known that they are firmly on the economic left and believe the government should use its power to make people more equal. The Republicans just do whatever lets them stay in power. The party of Regan has become the party of Romney, saying anything and taking on any persona just to get elected.
- maz2331, on 02/09/2008, -4/+22The momentum in favor of constant expansion is so great right now that we need a really hard-core guy like Paul to even have a chance of slowing it down, let alone reversing it.
That is, until the system simply implodes under its own weight and everyone is suddenly cut off. - nicholai, on 02/09/2008, -9/+26Go ahead and google McCain, you will learn to hate him like everyone else.
- Flummoxer, on 02/09/2008, -5/+21Sarcastic.
- protodon, on 02/09/2008, -3/+19Personally I don't vote for democrats or republicans, I vote for people. Unfortunately each election cycle we can only choose from the 4 rich bastards that are running at the time. Those that do vote along party lines all the time are known as sheeple aka democrats and republicans.
- freakon, on 02/09/2008, -13/+29Stand erect and hard aswell.
- Elderon, on 02/09/2008, -5/+21And what's wrong with getting rid of all those? Dept of education? we're one of the lowest 1st world nations in the world. IRS, come on do you really like owing almost half of your wages to the government? The CIA? come on get real. Your talking about the same CIA that over throws democratically elected governments, was 100% sure there were WMD's in Iraq? Thanks but I think I could do without those things.
- thirdoffive, on 02/09/2008, -4/+20I don't think he'll win either but I'm still voting for him when my state's primary comes around. It's either voting for RP or siting at home because all the other candidates are too nasty. So... might as well vote for RP.
- bradcrc, on 02/09/2008, -15/+30that would be bad because, apparently, acting like republicans hasn't ***** up the country quite enough over the past few years, eh?
- kronso23, on 02/09/2008, -4/+19I don't care who is winnable. I vote for the candidate that represents my morals and values... maybe if the rest of the country voted similarly, people would reply with "Huh?" at the mention of Bush's name. Ron Paul '08.
- ZeroIce, on 02/09/2008, -1/+15Only thing McCain knows is war. Could you imagine McCain running in a time of peace? Absolutely not.
- LeadOffMan, on 02/09/2008, -29/+43yes, absolutely
- soulmantim, on 02/09/2008, -22/+36You'd prefer McCain?
You must be insane! - boogface, on 02/09/2008, -3/+16
You and I are told increasingly that we have to choose between a left or right, but I would like to
suggest that there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down — up to a man’s
age-old dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order — or down to the
ant heap totalitarianism, and regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who
would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course.
- Ronald Reagan - carbonhazard, on 02/09/2008, -1/+14Such as Ron Paul?
- scbysnx, on 02/09/2008, -4/+17yes that is the point because republicans aren't acting like republicans anymore, thats his point. Republicans who "borrow and spend" "spend" being the key there are not republicans at all. Just because you want democrats to be better doesn't mean you get to change around peoples intentions. All he's saying is is that republicans are spending like democrats are known for at this point and that isn't good. so YES that is THE POINT .. see I can make things in capitols too they make my point more valid
