- jeremyduffy, on 11/02/2007, -0/+28Uh, duh! Christ, can anyone be held accountable for anything anymore?
"We need a record of the e-mails you've been sending"
"Oh those? Yeah, we lost them."
"Lost them!? You're required by law to keep them"
"Sorry."
"Well, ha ha. Alright, but don't let it happen again"
Idiocy. - AustinMandi, on 11/04/2007, -2/+21Let me guess...it's not in the interest of National Security. Surprise!
- mishaco, on 11/04/2007, -4/+19and hurry up about it !
- chicoer2001, on 11/02/2007, -2/+13Start impeachment hearings...
- Waiting2awake, on 10/31/2007, -0/+9(I should have a macro for this...but)
And still America sleeps..........
6 years and counting, does anyone even pretend to have a line they will not let America slip below before they give a rats ass? - inactive, on 10/30/2007, -0/+9They will receive a strongly worded letter from Congress. Yessir! Mark my words on that.
- PintOfGuinness, on 11/02/2007, -0/+8You never know, they might not have known to delete the sent items folder!
- EndersGame, on 11/02/2007, -1/+8Cheney and the rest of his thugs no what they are doing, there isn't a trace of those e-mails left by now unfortunately.
- Waiting2awake, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5Isn't that a safe bet? Sadly.
- inactive, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5"IMPEACH CHENEY and his stooge, BUSH."
Do you have 29389 accounts on digg or something? I swear I see the "and his stooge, BUSH" comment at LEAST three or four times daily. - WilliamDavis, on 10/30/2007, -1/+6As required by laws??? Since when have laws mattered to politicians?
- fonebone2, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5They matter to people lower down the hierarchy who may be held liable if they refuse to comply with court orders.
- jwietelmann, on 10/31/2007, -1/+6What I can't figure out is why no one knows about or talks about this:
http://www.gregpalast.com/rove-pick-for-us-attorne ...

WE'VE SEEN WHAT'S IN THE EMAILS. They detail how Rove and company engaged in practices designed to strike minority voters off the registration lists. The term "caging" refers to sending address verification letters to only a select group of citizens (read: people who won't vote for you) and then striking those who do not respond from the voter list. It gets worse. In some cases they waited to send these letters to U.S. soldiers until those soldiers were deployed to Iraq! If you're in Iraq you can't respond, and if you can't respond, you can't vote!
I guess Craig Palast's reputation as a liberal muckraker is one of the reasons this story has never gone mainstream, but there is little reason to doubt the authenticity of these emails. They were mistakenly sent to an address at http://georgewbush.org/ , a domain which is owned by a critic of Bush whose name I cannot recall at the moment. - duggtodeath, on 11/02/2007, -3/+7Bush Sr even lied about being a CIA director when in fact there is ample fact that he was. Does he think Americans simply forget?
- tdelet, on 10/30/2007, -1/+5Remember: It's not illeglal if the President does it.
- inactive, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3...and if they don't?
People like to demand things without having a backup plan in case the other side doesn't follow through. - Waiting2awake, on 10/30/2007, -1/+4No doubt, wouldn't want conflicting idea's ruining your day....
- bulkhater, on 10/30/2007, -0/+3Next Headline: White House spends entire day pointing and laughing at watchdog group, making crass jokes about the group's "bite" being limited to "Freedom of Information" requests.
- Murdats, on 10/30/2007, -1/+4your being an ***** mastermind
- oldhick, on 10/30/2007, -1/+3Nope, just the only one anal enough to comment about it.
- UomodiRispetto, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Don't lie, steal or cheat, the Government hates competition.
- AngelicRaver, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Its the Bush administration's smoking gun, so of course they'll never 'find' them. In this era of misinformation and lack of accountability, we would have a better chance of capturing a Bigfoot.
- tdelet, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Does anyone doubt that there essentially zero chance that many email have been sent into the void? Or am I the only one who doesn't trust them....
- Bdog2g2, on 10/30/2007, -1/+3No he's just being masterwhine.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Until We the People start holding our "public servants" and corporate CEO's accountable "the old-fashioned way", nothing will change for the better.
- guinnessman, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Perhaps they are hidden in the same box as Hillary's travelgate documents?
- SlimFastForYou, on 10/30/2007, -1/+3What was "off the deep end"? George Bush Sr. being a former head of the CIA? Involved in S&B? I was under the impression that was already established, or at least strongly supported by evidence. Now, Bush Sr's alleged involvement in the Bay of Pigs and Kennedy's assasination, that's something that is more worthy to be considered "off the deep end". :)
- bulkhater, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2What do you mean "IF" they don't?
- oldhick, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2WTF? When did he lie about that? It was a part of his presidential campaign...
- AustinMandi, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1Now that was funny.
- TheHydrogens, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1I do find it disturbing that nobody really believes that they "lost" those emails. Basically everybody is just accepting that our administration is a bunch of liars and saying "Now come on, just give us the emails... be a good little administration, nobody likes a liar... ok then, no dessert for you tonight!"
- F1R3DUP, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1umm, this is a BS request. Those emails records were destroyed quite some time ago.
- tdelet, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1Yeah...that's basically what it has come to.
- bulkhater, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1As if the e-mails still existed.... HA!
- duggtodeath, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1When questioned about it after his Presidency he did indeed lie about it :)
- jlhoben, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1You can't have the rule of law without transparency and without the rule of law what do you have? A system where the people's interests are subject only to the "good will" of the executive - in essence, a dictatorship.
- baaj, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1Title is weird - "Watchdog groups agree"
Of course they agree about more transparency - that's what watchdogs group do. - oldhick, on 10/31/2007, -0/+1He ran on the platform of being experienced. He explicitly listed his tenure in the CIA as evidence of that, along with VP. I need to see evidence of these denials. Thats absolutely insane. Granted, nothing surprises me anymore but I would to see the context of this.
- bizchris, on 10/30/2007, -0/+1I was under the impression that from an IT perspective, it's practically impossible to remove all trace of emails, between source server, recipient servers, hard drives, etc.?
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/30/2007, -1/+2So your position is that you support corrupt government? I have to ask because instead of speaking to the issue being discussed, you just trolled.
- bulkhater, on 10/30/2007, -1/+1If gays try to get married then America waked up form its sugar crash induced slumber, but it goes back to sleep once FOX stops harping on the issue. Keep in mind, Americans are by and large ignorant morons. For example, we're at war over Oil, and 70% Of Americans Don't Know Plastic Is Made With Oil. http://digg.com/general_sciences/70_Of_Americans_D ...
- NJank, on 10/30/2007, -1/+1BUT DUDE, did you see that Sears offer for Black Friday??????
- inactive, on 10/30/2007, -1/+1there's a sale on flat panel tvs? are they 1080p? link plz?
/s (apparently people get really pissed when you forget to close with these tags) - bemenaker, on 10/30/2007, -2/+2Can we impeach now?! I want a real gov't back!!!! Is it time to take up arms yet? Impeach or we revolt!
- inactive, on 10/30/2007, -2/+2Am I the only one that can see the 'Check Spelling' button?
- masterm1nd, on 10/30/2007, -1/+1You guys don;t talk much but you say a lot!
- tige995, on 10/30/2007, -1/+1They should just give the emails and then, have a friend go in and stuff them in their socks and hide them at a construction site.
- designer, on 10/31/2007, -1/+1More digg group think.
- secretivecoward, on 10/30/2007, -1/+1The President will win...GOP goons are on his side.
