- klasikahl, on 10/12/2007, -14/+100And maybe if Rush would get off his "meds" he wouldn't be so ***** stupid.
- klasikahl, on 10/12/2007, -15/+56He went off the pills to show people what a HORRIBLE DISEASE it is. Are you really that stupid?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40Here's a quote from William J. Weiner M.D., professor and chairman of the department of neurology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He's also the director of the Parkinson's clinic there.
"What you are seeing on the video is side effects of the medication. He has to
take that medication to sit there and talk to you like that. ... He's not
over-dramatizing. ... [Limbaugh] is revealing his ignorance of Parkinson's
disease, because people with Parkinson's don't look like that at all when
they're not taking their medication. They look stiff, and frozen, and don't move
at all. ... People with Parkinson's, when they've had the disease for awhile,
are in this bind, where if they don't take any medication, they can be stiff and
hardly able to talk. And if they do take their medication, so they can talk,
they get all of this movement, like what you see in the ad."
http://www.tnr.com/blog/theplank?pid=51219 - harumph, on 10/12/2007, -4/+39gosh, does that mean terri schaivo might have been faking as well? bet all you republicans feel well duped.
why is it republicans have such problems with people who are actually knowledgeable or who have personal experience in a particular area talking about it publicly? i mean, limbaugh and his idiot imitators pull b.s. straight out of their asses on a daily basis and we are supposed to take them more seriously than someone who ACTUALY has parkinsons or someone who ACTUALLY lost a loved one in a war or someone who ACTUALLY lost a loved one on 9/11. how backward is that? why is it you attack everyone who really has to sacrifice in this world and reward everyone who worships at the altar of taking the easy way out and dispensing easy answers to the most complex of problems? - devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -6/+41I think his concern was that the Government isn't taking the disease seriously, which has effects on things like how it's treated in gov't-subsidized healthcare, etc. So, he went to the subcommittee unmedicated to show that this isn't some part-time inconvenience that just makes you a little jittery - it's a full-blown disorder that completely disables a large number of people who aren't being treated.
That's the point. Now why don't you shut the ***** up with your ridiculous partisan *****, because that wasn't even the concern. Talk about 'intellectually lazy.' The concern is that Limbaugh is completely ignorant and just insulted everyone who has this serious disorder by implying it is not serious and their spokesperson is faking. Jesus Christ. Help me bury this chump. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+43HEY RUSH! GO ***** YOURSELF!!
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -9/+41how could anyone listen to this man??
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+37The Michael J. Fox ad in support of stem cell research can be viewed here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9WB_PXjTBo - gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -11/+41Someone go castrate Rush now so he can't go stealing another little blue pill.
Seriously. Men like him need to go commit suicide. They are not needed on this planet. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+40Right, from the looks of your picture you must be their doctor.
- Ruckgesicht, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30If he's right, then Rush Limbaugh is faking it; he's actually a very cultured and intelligent person who plays the popular idiot for, well, the popularity.
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -7/+34This IS about Rush Limbaugh - and that WASN'T your point. You just wrote a bunch of vitriol that was completely OFF-TOPIC. THAT'S why you're being buried.
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29Paw, there's no need to take every single argument to the point of absurdity. It suggests that you don't have a point in the first place. Basically you're arguing what I'm arguing, but without respect or restraint, and that's why you get buried whenever you post something. You're not martyring yourself here, you're not fighting the good fight, you're just saying things in a way no one wants to hear them. Chill out a little bit and think things through before you post them and you might find yourself sparking debate instead of flames.
- JonnyTrombone, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28This just in: Rush Limbaugh accuses Dinosaurs of faking extinction. "Their just faking the effects of a giant meteor followed by an ice age to garner support for paleontology," Limbaugh told audiences today. "They're hiding in caves and stuff."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26A few years ago, Michael J. Fox did adverts in support of Arlen Specter (R).
Where was the outrage then?
Oh yeah, there wasn't any. - sencha5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23Goddamnit. Who opened the bag of Troll Chow?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25Lets listen to the neuroscientist who specializes in Parkinson's Disease:
"Anyone who knows the disease well would regard his movement as classic severe Parkinson's disease," said Elaine Richman, a neuroscientist in Baltimore who co-wrote "Parkinson's Disease and the Family." "Any other interpretation is misinformed." - jaycliche, on 10/12/2007, -8/+28Now that's what I call compassionate conservative. I suppose Rush is faking his drug addiction too.
- jamie329, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"Dems have a history of using sick celebs for political gain. Nothing new."
Republicans have a history of starting wars for political gain. Nothing new. - michaelfitz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Maybe Rush should get Parkinson's and then he'll know how it feels.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18dude I want to scream you piss me off so bad I can't even think I'm soooo pissed.
He has a disease, he wants to find a cure, people like you try to stop him because you think you're morally superior. You are a piece of ***** my friend, a piece of ***** - CrimsonWeltall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15"Dems have a history of using sick celebs for political gain. Nothing new."
Yeah, look at famous Democrat Nancy Reagan's push for stem cell research. - pinatamonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Actually the moving around is a side effect of the medication for Parkinson's. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyskinesia
Rush doesn't know what he's talking about (as usual) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20@coit:
nice link, makes rush look even more like a pompus ass. - slamm6, on 10/12/2007, -10/+22Just when you think that a douchebag like Limbaugh couldn't possibly get any douchebaggier, out come these words of douchebaggery. What a major douchebag ! Who listens to that crap anyways ?
- plunk0, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14The research I did was for a paper and most of my information was retrieved from books or online sources only available to students.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Who's he going to pick on next? Mentally challanged children and single mothers?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Why does anyone pay attention to Flush Slimeball and his dildo-head followers? The more that pill-head tries to appear relevant, the more pathetic it is.
My Dad has Parkinson's and I can tell that MJ Fox ain't faking it.
On the other hand Flush isn't faking being a smart-ass that puts his hoof in his mouth with surprising regularity. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11This is about embryonic stem cell research, NOT fetal stem cell research. Fertility clinics already trash embryos every day because they expire. If you have a problem with embryos being trashed, then take your daughter down to the nearest fertility clinic to have her impregnated with one of these embryos ASAP.
Embryonic stem cell research has nothing to do with fetuses or abortion. If you're against embryonic stem cell research, then you might as well be against couples trying to get pregnant by artificial insemination. That's where these extra embryos are coming from. - slamm6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11You got some major issues at 39, man. You're going to have a tough time over the next few years as it doesn't get any easier. But, just a question: What's a "fascist liberal democrat" ? I only came up with four hits on Google. This must be a new term. I admit it comes trippingly off the tongue, but the term is still vague. Perhaps you can enlighten me....hmmmmm?
- arizonabay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11First off, it's difficult to take you seriously because you come right out of the gate accusing a media outlet, that you obviously have ideological differences with, of treason. Sorry, that tired dog has been euthanized and certainly "don't hunt" any longer.
Here are some videos of Fox in recent interviews discussing Parkinsons. These are, largely, unedited as opposed to a taped television drama. Is your contention that Fox has not only "hammed up" the well-documented symptoms of a disease that he has in the MO commercial, but has been doing so for years since his diagnosis? My, what a cynical and twisted reality you live in.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkA1aN1osVk - devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Well, there's no need to bring all that into it - there are plenty of people who have sacrificed but don't feel the need to make their voice heard above all others. A person who lost someone in a war should be listened to as much as anybody else, but their statements aren't more true because of it. The only thing that such a person is demonstrably an expert in is grief - and we can trust them on that. But televised grief doesn't create credibility, only publicity.
I share your outrage with our callous leaders but we have to be careful that we don't damage ourselves with it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Posted again because of the ignorance still portrayed in this thread...
Here's a quote from William J. Weiner M.D., professor and chairman of the department of neurology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He's also the director of the Parkinson's clinic there.
"What you are seeing on the video is side effects of the medication. He has to

they get all of this movement, like what you see in the ad." - smith262, on 10/12/2007, -8/+18Um, he went off the pills to show how some people have to suffer when they are not freaking millionaires and can't afford all the medication he takes to keep himself functioning.
- slamm6, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Because Parkinson's is a terminal disease. L-dopa works for a while, a few years, and it is a tremendous help. But it is not a cure. It would be similar to a diabetic coming on stage without taking his insulin and going into hyperglycemic shock. Would one not want to fund research to cure diabetes because the dork should have taken his insulin ? Man, where is the logic in that ?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I can't believe some of the comments on this thread. There are actually people out there who think that there is a vast conspiracy of liberal actors trying to effect government policy. I wonder if they ever heard of a thing called a think tank or a lobbying group or better yet, cold hard cash.
Boy is Rush turning out the neocon drones. - amoirae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10DirkBelig is attempting to compete.
- kroenecker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10It's about seeing the reality of the disease for what it is. The shock value is meant to motivate people so that the government will begin to back programs that move towards a cure. You're heartless.
Fascist Democrats? Take a look at how much respect our current line-up of Neo-Cons has for our constitution or the Bill of Rights. - Darkeforce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I'm a conservative, and yes, even *I* know that Rush is an idiot. Seriously, what an *****. Please believe me when I say that there are *normal* conservatives out there who aren't dicks and who are genuinely compassionate.
- RedStateRetard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Reagan was faking Alzheimer's. He knew about the Iran-Contra. (just google Ollie North's confession)
- CrimsonWeltall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@griz,
The majority of the public (like 60/40) support embryonic stem cell research. It has not been a good issue for Republicans.
Also, Bush's reasons for blocking it are based on his personal beliefs, not on the fact that it is controversial. If Bush wasn't willing to spend money on things that were controversial, we wouldn't be in Iraq. - pinatamonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Here's some more info for all you who think MJF was "off his meds" to "enhance" the severity of his illness....
http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/parkinsons_disease/parkinsons_disease.htm
The swaying and wobbling is NOT a symptom of Parkinson's! In fact, Parkinson's causes STIFFNESS and RIGIDITY! What, then, was causing MJF's motions?
In fact, it is a SIDE-EFFECT of the MEDICATION for Parkinson's!
It's called Dyskinesia:
(from http://www.infoparkinson.org/En/Contenu/Vieau_trouble_fm_dysk.asp)
"Dyskinesia are involuntary movements that generally appear on the side of the body most severely affected by Parkinson’s disease, usually the side on which the first symptoms appeared. This phenomenon usually occurs after several years of using levodopa. It is more frequent and appears earlier in young people. These involuntary movements may affect the face, tongue, respiratory muscles, upper body, and arms and legs. They are jerky and characterized by sudden contractions followed by stretching, twisting and rotation. They are most often seen in people presenting with motor fluctuations. The mechanisms underlying the development of dyskinesia are still not very well understood. Dyskinesia, which occur most commonly in the middle of a dose, are caused by an elevated level of levodopa in the brain. Lastly, some people may also suffer from biphasic dyskinesia; these occur at the beginning and at the end of the dose."
(sorry for the caps, trying to get some people to read this!) - pbjohnson79, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Rush can kiss my @$$. He should be buried for this. Why would MJF fake it? He's had the tremors right before he left Spin City, and when he came back, he was shaking like anyone with Parkinsons would. I'm a fan of MJF, and I honestly don't think he'd fake it.
- PDelahanty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The odds of Michael J Fox faking Parkinson's are the same as the odds of Rush Limbaugh faking being stupid.
Very low odds that any faking is going on by either one of them. - Wamzlee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8What is the deal with these republicans? They say that Terri Schiavo isn't in a persistant vegitative state, and now they say Michael J. Fox is faking it.
This just makes me sick.
Watch E! True Hollywood Story on Spin City for the love of *****.
What's next? Are the republicans going to say that Stephen Hawking if faking it? - EntropyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8IANAL, but at a certain point, this sort of sick ***** becomes actionable slander and libel. I think Rush has dodged that bullet long enough.
- jaycliche, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11***** gaymaxpussy
- omaryak, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14"he is not as out of control as he appears in the political ads"
Even assuming that's a fair point, Rush went too far in calling it "an act." And the idea that medication is available to control some of the symptoms of Parkinson's only serves as an excuse not to support stem cell research for the intellectually lazy and morally challenged. Even if medication can control the symptoms, only stem cells provide the possibility for a cure. - gravemoss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8lol the strange things junkies say. too bad some people in america can get oxycontin just handed to him by his doctor, (which by the way is synthetic heroin, its actually better than heroin trust me ;) ) and gets to pick on people with real problems, who are trying to use medical technology to actually hep them, not just get high.
