- aTTicus78, on 10/10/2007, -6/+64Hannity's head is going to explode!
- jdh24, on 10/10/2007, -7/+64"a curious thing"? Ron Paul has won like half the straw polls and placed in the top 3 in most of the rest.
- trevorml0878, on 10/10/2007, -15/+43It's very nice to see a state so close to D.C. be in support of Ron Paul. That's got to say something about how D.C. is starting to perceive him as well. Speaking of Ron Paul supporters.. http://www.RonPaulMeetUpVideos.com
- whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -7/+30You say it as if the Washington Post isn't a trustworthy news source, which it is compared to most others.
- fyrehart, on 10/10/2007, -5/+27People could have voted just as easily for any other of the candidates. The fact that Ron Paul won means that he had more supporters willing to find the booth and vote, which says a lot. It is a big deal.
Also, there were 600,000 people who could have passed by the booth - it was at the MD State Fair and didn't cost any more than the Fair admission. I voted, so I would know. Another stat I heard was that 20% of the tickets were given out for free as a promotional deal, so a lot of people didn't even pay to get in. - DangerCollie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19That would be a pay-per-view moment.
- Frnnkdlxx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18***** Hannity....
- NeverReturnKid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16State, County, and City taxes go towards all those things you mentioned, not Federal Income Taxes...
- Rapter09, on 10/10/2007, -5/+19Hey, if you Americans don't want him, send him up here. We'll treat him real nice in Canada. We could use a replacement for our puppet.
- MrXfromPlanetX, on 10/10/2007, -6/+19I was going to vote for a Democrat until I got to know more about Ron Paul. Now I'm registering as a Republican just so I can vote for him. Before you say crap like this is more Ron Paul spam listen to him in the Republican debate http://www.spikedhumor.com/articles/124528/Ron_Paul_at_the_Fox_Debates.html Ron Paul is the only true anti war.
I don't agree with him on everything. For example I support socialized health care, but the group right now that is getting the most socialized support is big corporations who pay a quarter of the taxes the American people do. After seeing every thing Ron has to say and reading Barack Obama's entire campaign speech I believe Ron Paul is the only candidate we can trust.
Ron Paul has guts and he's not sold out to the big corporations. I think if he does get elected he's going to have to watch his back so he doesn't get assassinated. Check out "The Money Masters." We are borrowing money from the Federal Reserve Bank and paying it back at Interest. Ron Paul wants to put a stop to this. Check out "Why We Fight." Ron Paul is the only man we can trust to bring peace to the United States.
The Republicans won't close the southern boarder, but want a national ID card. Isn't that orwellian. Ron Paul wants to close up the southern boarder and get rid of the national ID card.

primarilypaul.com/ron-paul-in-the-primaries (In some states you have to register as a Republican to vote in their primary) - nreynolds, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16Digg is not anti-gun, first of all. Secondly... the deal is when we eliminate government programs(and open up competition), the private sector will come in and do a better job for cheaper.
- BuckTheInfernal, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15Well, out of all of the candidates on both sides he's the only one with fresh and new ideas. The other ones are definitely going safe and basically following the templates that either of their respective sides is required to believe.
Look up the definition of libertarian, that's what Ron Paul is. Apologies if you already knew this. - wolfofwar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Ron Paul wants to get rid of the Income tax goes back to partially support departments, federal wages, and mostly to support the IRS. All the things that you mentioned, drinking water, city county services, education, sewers, police, fire, schools, all come from your district, county, state, and city taxes, which Ron Paul has no issue with.
Its the money thats taken, illegally, from your income, to fund government bureaucracy's that he is against, not city planning and local taxes. - joel2600, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14according to the government accounting office the federal income tax does not go to pay for a single government service. please educate yourself.
check out "from freedom to fascism" on google video - dfan917, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Ron Paul voted for the authorization to go into Afghanistan to find Bin Ladin. He now feels that the administration took this authorization to take over the country and rebuild it, rather than hunt the terrorists. The fact that we haven't captured Bin Ladin shows this to be a legitimate complaint.
- Daedalos, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12He does apply those same government butt out views to abortion. He doesn't personaly like it, but aims to let our state governments handle it independently of the federal government. He doesn't like R vs. W because it is a federal law. He would never prevent the states from allowing something just because he doesn't like it.
- NeverReturnKid, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11You've got a good point, but who really knows how the primaries will end up. I've never voted in a primary before, but I will next year and my vote will be for Ron Paul.
- absurdist, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11You give RightWingFTL way too much credit. He's just a dick.
- SlamShut, on 10/15/2007, -5/+14"Fact is that the average idiot citizen will never vote for someone that has two first names."
John Tyler?
Ulysses Grant?
Chester Arthur?
Woodrow Wilson?
I'm not a Ron Paul supporter, but dude, you're a ***** moron. - Sairynn, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11The IRS is bloated and useless at this point, and the current tax code needs to be revised anyway. Plus, the people who are on welfare because they are lazy are exactly the kind of people who shouldn't be on it in the first place.
- lavchan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+101. The US penal system is the way it is because the United States government and its contractors make money off criminalising things which shouldn't be criminalised. Ron Paul supports abolishing this practice (for example, decriminalising marijuana, which would free about half of all the prisoners in the United States).
2. Municipal police and fire systems aren't privatised, smartie-pants. Look up the word 'municipal'.
3. Most businesses use private waste-removal and recycling rather than what cities or counties provide. Unless they're unbelievable retards they do this because it's 'a better job for cheaper'. City recycling programmes by the way are a monstrous waste of resources; very little of the materials they recycle (aluminium cans being the notable exception) actually make up for the amount of waste they introduce to the environment in the process of creating their buckets, building their fleet of diesel trucks, and driving those trucks throughout your city.
4. Ron Paul and almost all libertarians support extreme military down-sizing. Restrict the military to protecting its own borders and suddenly contracting becomes much much less glamorous.
5. Media conglomerates exist in almost every country in the entire world (including the 'socialist', 'pro-consumer' European ones), and in any case there isn't really a problem with them. If people didn't want media conglomerates, they wouldn't pay for their services and products. - JoeJI, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12New to digg but have been to the site and reading the comment sections for a few months now. Ron Paul's popularity here perplexes me. Granted he is anti-war which is extremely popular here, but he's also anti-abortion, pro-gun, for business deregulation (more big media), pretty straightforward about securing the borders and his own website insinuated he'd like us out of the UN. Furthermore, as somebody dedicated to limited constitutional government he's more likely than not opposed to many of the social programs currently run by the government. I see that the anti-war stance as well his personal privacy views would be welcome here, but I'm not sure how the rest of it flies so well with the Digg crowd, I mean, those aren't exactly minor details. Again, I'm new.
- Daedalos, on 10/10/2007, -3/+11Remember that most of our income taxes go to the interest that the federal reserve charges the government just to have our money in circulation. It goes straight into the hands of international bankers instead of our government anyway. So that money we pay won't have anywhere to go once we rid ourselves of the FED. Yes government employees will loose some jobs. GOOD! Working for the government is second only to living on government handouts. (These people need real jobs for their own sake, not to mention ours.) Dr. Paul speaks of the time it will take to ween people off of welfare. He knows that he can't just pull the plug.
- ZenMojo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10And still not even Fox News will show their OWN poll in which he got 33% of the vote after the NH debate. Heh.
- Synchro, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I am educated, love politics and enjoy watching all of this the way some watch football. Of all the candidates in either party, Ron Paul is about the only one I would vote for at the moment. Almost all the rest of the candidates seem to want to keep the statis quo that has been around for 20+ years. And lots of people, myself included just want to see someone succeed Bush that is a little smarter and would like to oh, stick up for the constitution and the citizens of this country. The Democrats scare me. They have been bidding their time for the past few years and are prepared to really do some damage if they win the presidency. The republicans are scrambling and just trying to hold one while they flush Bush down the drain and hope they do not go along with him. We need balance. We need some fiscal responsibility. No more social programs, big military spending or giving money to other countries until we pay down our debt for a bit. Big picture stuff. We need ou own house in order and our own people taken care of with good programs first.
- Salgat, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8President has the power of the Veto and a strong influence(if the people like him) over congress. If Bush can convince congress to go to war over something as ridiculous as Iraq in cahoots over 9/11, then Ron Paul can at least have some influence.
- Gerchak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6That makes more sense. Thank you.
- joel2600, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11so what you're saying is all of the other candidates aren't trying to get any support for themselves.... then they ***** deserve to lose
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I am an independent, but I have to say that though the NY times is totally biased , comparing it to fox news is an absolutely ridiculous thing to do. It's biased as hell, but the investigative journalism is outstanding. The writing is absolutely superior. You might be able to compare it to the WSJ now that murdoch controls it in its bias, and before all the smart people leave because murdoch took over, but the fact is, that the times, and the journal, at this moment, are for smart people, and fox news is for retards, or ignorant old people who are scared of the world in general, and will vote according to what they are afraid of. It is base, repulsive propaganda for simpletons. Other than that, what you said about many sources is right on.
- AudioPhotograph, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7So your saying that war is alright even when its unnecessary? Wow, thats genius, hell, why don't we just bomb the ***** out of Iran now, my god its BRILLIANT!!!
- Swoyer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6his main point was that the president never went to congress for a formal declaration of war, which is what he was supposed to do according to the constitution.
- barktwiggs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Yes, because we are not smart enough to figure out the best way to use our tax monies. Funny thing about recent tax cuts, tax revenues actually went UP after they went into effect. Could it be that more money was invested wisely instead of being wasted on government programs, thus enabling greater overal GDP? I guarantee you that as soon as there is a tax increase, there will be negative economic externalities because of businesses investing less.
- latpack, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6why not? according to the article, Ron Paul was the only candidate to have a representative at the fair for the entire 11 days.
- adoggz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6fortunately sir, I don't believe in hell.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Hell I bury comments just for saying they'll probably be buried.
- wolfofwar, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Ron Paul supported tactical strikes against training camps in Afghanistan, not invasion and occupation of afghanistan.
- vawksel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Same here, I've never voted in a primary before, and I am voting for Ron Paul all the way. I don't give a crap if everyone thinks I'm throwing my vote away, RON PAUL is getting my vote, period.
- dime, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I think you mean the Federal Reserve. The IRS is indeed a government entity.
If you're going to repeat ***** you hear, at least be accurate. - wolfofwar, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Property taxes aren't Income taxes.
- BuckTheInfernal, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Sir, that sounded extremely "sour-grapes". Just saying.
- roamzero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I believe he was referring to oil pipelines that run through Afghanistan.
- jron, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11The post managed to cover 1 poll of 23...........
The rest:
http://www.ronpaul2008.com/straw-poll-results/ - trumasamune, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You're entitled to your opinion. It's great that you acknowledge that nobody gives a ***** what you are talking about.
- matador3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You do understand that the Federal government is funded by the people of the Several States right?
- dualscreenman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I fail to see how digging you down will prove that you are telling the truth, nor how the action of lowering a javascript popularity counter will assert the fact that Ron Paul will never become a serious contender for the white house.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Perhaps those living in the big city would like being a bit bored, for a change.
- dfan917, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5City/County services are paid for by City/County taxes. Public schools are mostly funded by local school taxes. Fire and police departments are funded at the state, county and city levels, with the exception of the CIA and FBI.
Cutting federal taxes will have no effect on these things that you have mentioned. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The only candidate that could get someone committed enough to his cause to stay there for 11 days.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Oh enlightened one...please bestow upon us mere mortals the knowledge of where the money is going.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6He's just another condescending prick who thinks he's smarter than everyone else.
