The article doesn't go into details, but by tying up Russia in Georgia it keeps them from coming to the aid of Iran in case of a US attack. It also paints Russia as the bad guy which helps in terms of public opinion should Russia attempt to assist Iran. However, this could very well backfire. It could push Russia and Iran into each others arms. Together Russia and Iran could present serious problems to the US and Israel. The European nations will have to think twice since they get energy from both Russia and Iran. This could potentially drive a wedge into the coalition that is seeking to force tougher economic sanctions against Iran. - inactive, on 08/11/2008, -1/+18Now people are getting it. Still won't do a damn bit of good. What the hell can you do? We've become the Nazis.
- avengingturnip, on 08/11/2008, -1/+13One of the questions that keeps coming up regarding the neo-con allegiance to Turkey is why? Why Turkey? This pipeline seems to answer that and this war seems part of the bigger picture.

Georgians are the attackers. Sadly they are also stooges for USrael. - inactive, on 08/12/2008, -0/+3Basically I agree with the book "The Israel Lobby" that the US should be looking out for its own interests and not those of Israel. Take Israel out of the picture and we can have perfectly good relations with Iran. But because of Israel, we have decided that Iran is evil. This leads us to do stupid things like run a oil pipeline through Georgia. That pipeline by the way, mostly benefits Israel. It goes through Turkey and at the other end lands close to an Israeli port.
The war in Iraq was fought so that we could build a pipeline from Iraq to Israel through Jordan. It's a sad day when a million Iraqis have to lose their lives so that Israel can get oil.

Ye, I check in for a laugh at Fox to see the latest sexual titillation. Ha ha. No worries, I don't watch Sky either. - inactive, on 08/17/2008, -0/+2Aren't Russia and Iran already in each others arms? They should be.
- inactive, on 08/17/2008, -0/+1The self-admitted nazis on the web are on Russia's side though - because the thought of the US/Israeli one world tyranny is worse by far than anything Russia might do.
- Siegfriedson, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1Here is a quick point-by-point summary of the Russia vs. Georgia conflict:
http://www.davidduke.com/general/the-cold-hard-fac ... - theorwells, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1Yes, We Americans are living in Bubble-Vision--- Blind, Insular, Ignorant, and Self-Absorbed. This would all be Hilarious---and i'd laugh Too--- IF the Neo-Cons of America (and their connections) were NOT publicly saying that they want a military confrontation with Russia, and IF this nation were NOT RULED by a man descended from the Nazi Prescott Bush! Many Americans are trying hard to find humor, in order to shield ourselves psychologically - but those of us left with eyes to see would NOT be surprised that this all leads to a NUCLEAR end. Is Alex Jones insane for saying that PNAC (People for A New American Century) wants to see 80 percent (or more)t of the world's population DEAD---well, PERHAPS NOT!!!
- deformation, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1I may disagree with you on this, I think this war was initiated by false interpretation by Georgia leaders on the Promises made by EU about Georgia joining the EU this year. That area is very critical to Europe and the US, all the oil pipes pass through Georgia, expanding the war to Iran mean total blockage of the Oil from both the Balkan and the Persian gulf, which neither the US or Europe want it to happen.
- theorwells, on 08/12/2008, -0/+1For a Russian news perspective on the Ossitian crisis, I recommend http://www.russiatoday.com/en ---you'll find not only breaking news in print but also videos from their news network. Russia Today's online news network can be viewed via http://wwitv.com/portal.htm (scroll down to the Russian Federation in the list of nations, click, and you'll need to find Russia Today in the list of Russian TV broadcasts). It's free, by the way! R.T. has been getting attacked by Denial of Service attacks in the last couple of days but you may get through, at least at the home page.

There is no Capital of "South Ossetia". As there is no "country" of South Ossetia. While the article draws on certain truths it takes great lengths to portray a clear bias against the west. True to form of today's socialist giddy media.
