- BrandonJM, on 07/03/2009, -14/+65It only took three comments for some anti-Obama mutant to crawl out of the woodwork. It's a fricking robot guys.
- kspanks04, on 07/04/2009, -1/+30I can't imagine what story they can tell for Obama 7 months into his presidency...seems weird to me.
- Niz1, on 07/04/2009, -0/+27Does it move well enough to swat a fly?
- EverybodyPanic, on 07/04/2009, -0/+26Robots are stealing our presidents' jobs.
- viking0895, on 07/04/2009, -0/+23dosent really look like him. but a plus for life like movement
- MastaQ, on 07/04/2009, -1/+23Robama?
- Jordan117, on 07/04/2009, -1/+21Wonkette's coverage of this (posted a few weeks ago) is worth a LOL or two:
DISNEY PERFECTS TERRIFYING OBAMA-BOT
"The techno-fascist wizards at Walt Disney’s cryogenic laboratories have designed an android Barack Obama 'frighteningly evocative of the real one,' so that the global entertainment corporation can indoctrinate a generation of gullible summer-vacationing children in the ways of our Socialist African Demon King when they just wanted to see the Jonas Bros.-Hannah Montana robot ***** show.
The Obama Simulacrum has been programmed to perform a oratorical waltz with that other robotic president of Disney, Abraham Lincoln. Both will read the Gettysburg Address from million-watt laser teleprompters inside their crystal skulls.
It will surprise absolutely no-one to learn that this Robama is not based on our American presidential robots of the past, but on the corrupt African DNA of actual pirates: 'The Obama figure’s closest forefather is not Lincoln but a modern-day Capt. Jack Sparrow. Assisted by Johnny Depp, who played the captain in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Disney recently installed an animatronic version of the Sparrow character in the Orlando theme park.'"

But for some reason he shuts down when trying to arrest any members of the FED, Bildenbergs Group, Council on Foreign Relations, Goldman Sachs.... .
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -12/+26Bush did!
- dasamps, on 07/04/2009, -1/+14Anyone else impressed with how far animatronics have come? I was more interested in that than who was being imitated.
- wtrwlkr, on 07/04/2009, -1/+14If I remember correctly, this attraction is at Magic Kingdom, not Epcot.
- MacParrot, on 07/04/2009, -3/+14EVERY President who ever served is there. Including the less popular ones
- Quicksilver4648, on 07/04/2009, -0/+11They do this for every president. Each current president becomes robo-fied and does a short speech. I have seen the Clinton and Bush ones.
- kspanks04, on 07/04/2009, -3/+14Oh right, then its okay!
- jman583, on 07/04/2009, -0/+10Can Digg put in a rule so that new users can't post more then one link per day? It might slow down the recent increase of spammers here.
- Angostura, on 07/04/2009, -0/+10A text-book example of uncanny valley http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -0/+9This is Chuck E. Cheese for Adults...
- DaviDTC, on 07/04/2009, -1/+10All 1?
- thefbimonkey, on 07/04/2009, -2/+11OHHH YOU GOT SERVED!
- DaviDTC, on 07/04/2009, -1/+10The Obama haters hang out in the upcoming so they have a chance to get their shots in with some positive diggs from their buddies. You are most likely being buried by this crowed as they know it is true that they will make some Obamabot jokes, but have already been called out on it. Chances are if this makes the front page you will start to see more positive diggs.
Just look at the comments now while it is still in the upcoming section. - Soleanthia, on 07/04/2009, -0/+8Yup. He can read you know.
- dasamps, on 07/04/2009, -0/+8Deh took R JERBS
- 0tis, on 07/04/2009, -1/+9Lose concentration for a second and six feet is all he needs.
- MacParrot, on 07/04/2009, -0/+8Of course they did. But how exactly does that change the coolness of having your own immortal robot image?
- kahoona1, on 07/04/2009, -0/+7Isn't it being debuted tomorrow? I remember when I was there in February it was still under renovation, and said it will be done in July so I'm assuming it'll be the 4th.
- c3rb85, on 07/04/2009, -1/+8Isn't that in the constitution for all presidents...Well in the recent years.
- johnwc, on 07/04/2009, -0/+7Cool but, The Hall of Presidents is STILL going to be everyone's least favorite Disneyworld attraction.
- jman583, on 07/04/2009, -1/+7Welcome to the internet. If you look to your left, you will see some porn videos and if you look to your right, you will see a group of wild grammar Nazis.
- Expl0siv0, on 07/04/2009, -0/+6I think Disney is more or less trying to humanize these figures because maybe children will be interested in learning about them if they're presented in that way.
Man...some people take everything waaaaaay too seriously. - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -1/+7Obama's likeness is creepy because it is realistic.
- kitsua, on 07/04/2009, -3/+8Uh ... everyone knows I was being cynical and not serious with that request, right?
- Shaggy3, on 07/04/2009, -3/+8No, but yours does.
- btschul, on 07/04/2009, -1/+6"I gave him a six foot extension cord so he can't chase us."
- FearlessFreep, on 07/04/2009, -0/+4Robot-Nixon is BACK!!!
- mysql101, on 07/04/2009, -0/+4"We wanted to present a sense of the presidents as human beings", by making them into giant fighting killer robots. This is how skynet really starts.
- moliver21, on 07/04/2009, -0/+4I thought the movement of the Obama representation was pretty amazing, so fluid it looks quite natural to watch. I also thought at first that they were voicing over Obama's voice with someone else, but it was great to see that the President actually did his own voice overs himself. I haven't been to Disneyworld in a long time, but I'd like to see this attraction in person.
- lilamae, on 07/05/2009, -0/+4Please tell me they remembered to give him a teleprompter.
- alais, on 07/04/2009, -4/+7"are these made of wax?"
Really obama? wax? never heard of the hall of presidents or what they are? much less not realize that wax isn't pliable enough to move? - RainyDayNinja, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3Did I see a robot Teddy Roosevelt in there? When the uprising hits, we are so screwed.
- Rocketbird, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3I don't like the fact that they made him look whiter. (In terms of his facial features, at least)
- MasterGrief, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2For all you know, this could be incredible, futuristic SPACE WAX
- Expl0siv0, on 07/04/2009, -1/+3Pffft, they're just scared of him sin he's black
- alais, on 07/04/2009, -5/+7He quit community organizing to move onto bigger things.
Your comparison is invalid until you see Palin's plans. - fugeelama, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2No lie... check out the creepy baby in Pixar's Tin Toy for another example:
http://www.pixar.com/shorts/tt/theater/short_320.h ... - HeyArnold, on 07/04/2009, -1/+3ROBO-OBAMA! ACTIVATE!!!
- nullcodes, on 07/04/2009, -1/+3The Al Gore one is surprisingly realistic.
- skinsonheelsup, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Filmore did!!!
- TVarmy, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2He's done interviews with CNN before. They've had holograms since the primaries, IIRC.
- MacParrot, on 07/04/2009, -2/+4Disney has cleverly added little tiny hair dryers and refrigeration units to soften and harden the wax at JUST the right times.
- dgendreau, on 07/04/2009, -8/+10You know, that explains an awful lot about the last 8 years.
