- FutureisDubious, on 04/04/2008, -11/+178No surprise there. Too bad they couldn't be there yesterday, and in the path of the gunman.
- jparkinson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+88oh what the *****.
i can't believe how absolutely horrible these ***** people are. - Easty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+86This is just disgusting.
These people give Christians - hell, they give humanity a bad name. - tarheel314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+74No, unfortunately, it is real:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church - kevinmotel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+62Fred Phelps is so obviously a closeted homosexual.
- jmholloway, on 10/12/2007, -2/+56i hate these people. My family has owned a funeral home for the past 200 years (really, family business) and all I can say is that these people are giant ass hats. When people are at a funeral they do not want ass hats like these guys preaching their message of death and doom all over the place.
- Firehunter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+54If I wasn't filled with rage before, I sure as hell am now.
I lost a friend yesterday at Virginia Tech, he was a good man who would never harm anyone. He didn't deserve this.
If these nutcases come to his funeral (or any other one while I'm in Blacksburg), I may be going to jail for a while. - zarand, on 10/12/2007, -4/+54Something tells me that you aren't the one reading the wrong Bible. Things like this just make me sick to my stomach. This country really has forgotten how to mourn, hasn't it? It saddens me and infuriates me to see the media, and people like this and Jack Thompson jump to use tragedies like this to further their own political and personal agendas. This is NOT what following Christ is about. They should be rallying around the families and friends of the victims and offering them love and support. Wake up Church, you've lost your focus. I truly hope someone out there with the means is able to make an effort to counteract the staining these people have placed on this horrible tragedy.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13 - rAid135, on 10/12/2007, -8/+58Yea, why is it that all the great people are killed and ***** still live. This world is so unfair
- WebCester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+44I'm not one who's quick to anger, but every time I hear or read anything by the Westboro Baptist Church I'm instantly filled with rage and hate. I'm an atheist, but I wish there was a hell just so the Phelps family could get a nasty surprise when they die. If anybody deserves God's wrath it's them.
- Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+40I'll make God a deal right here and now. If God were to smite Fred Phelps and his entire family and his "church" when they come to this funeral, I'll convert to Christianity permanently.
- jeromeerome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40This is absolutely ridiculous. Free speech or not there is no excuse for anyone to try and cause these families more pain than they have already suffered. Exploiting a tragedy like the one that occured yesterday at VT has no place in any religion. These people try to pass themselves off as Christians? Maybe I have been reading the wrong Bible.
- jpowlus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35wow, FeartheKnight, we all do really wish that was a "fake" website...
that crew is very real and very sick.
they are the same people you've heard about protesting at soldiers' funerals... and they WANTED to protest
at the funerals for the amish girls that were killed at their school last year.
it is no joke. they really believe what they are saying. - ClassicJBC, on 10/12/2007, -4/+38I know it's hard to do considering how really vile these people are, but don't play into their hands by digging, much less submitting digg stories about them. They're just out to get attention. They know by now how sensationalist this crap is, and so they're going to exploit human emotion at every turn. Until they all die out, just ignore them.
- madjeff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Hell, I'm a Christian and I feel the same way. Their absolutely skewed views and behavior are reprehensible and pathetic.
- revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29Let's keep this site down. Everyone digg this story.
- neodon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Can you get both feet in your mouth?
- jonathantneal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24"And, as Christ warned doomed Jerusalem, even so WBC -- warns doomed America" - pleasant, humble folk, that WBC.
- JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29@Easty
From my point of view, these people aren't Christians. Jesus' teachings are of peace, not of hate. - xutopia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25Just look at his wife and you'll agree that she looks nothing like a lady. She's the manliest woman I've seen in my life.
- CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25This is were people get mixed up,
Freedom of speech does not = immunity from scrutiny! It means you cannot be prosecuted for what you say.
There is nothing in the constitution that prevents citizens from reacting any non violent way they please to loud mouth jackasses. The ability to protest what a person does or says is entire reason that freedom of speech was put in the constitution! - combustion8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22It's only a matter of time before a mourner with nothing to lose kills these fools.
- dazparkour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21When their server starts showing signs of life again, I urge everyone to leave them a message:
http://www.godhatesamerica.com/html/contact.html
If they weren't lawyers, I may have used wording similar to "Death threats go here". - spacebetween, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Um...all of HUMANITY is subject to that "disease."
- cryptomystic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I'm kinda surprised that nobody during these "preachings" has gone ***** and killed Fred Phelps.
- boyasunder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Sadly its not. We gays have been aware of them for years and years. They had a long history of picketing gay funerals, including Matthew Shepard's, before they managed to get even more evil and start picketing the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq.
My dad was telling me about going to a funeral to help guard it against this ***** and I had to inform him that they are an anti-gay group. He thought they were war protesters or something. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18You appear to suffer from it as well. Nothing like sweeping generalizations to neuter the brain!
- bemenaker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Anyone besides me up for bringing a paintball marker to this sermon?
- ClassicJBC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21Wow, I spoke too soon. Perhaps there is a benefit to submitting and digging stories about these asshats.
- mrmdc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20Everyone should go to the site and hit reload 50 times in a row.
- jstohler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Nice, we broke their site. Digg is costing them a bundle in traffic fees right now.
- GhostBear1876, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17They came to the funerals of 4 girls killed in a school bus crash here in AL back in November 2006. Our police chief made them set up 500 feet away from the church and across the street. Just as the funeral was starting 2 city busses "ran out of gas" in front of the group, blocking them from the mourners. Their permit only allowed them 1 hour of "protest" so they were required to leave before the service let out and the procession to the cemetery began. I hope the various cities where the funerals will be held will take similar steps to protect the families.
- StingerMS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17God hates their server too, apparently.
- ChestyLaRue, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18don't lump people of faith in with these nutjobs, you may disagree with their religion or religion in general, but the WBC folks are something completely different
- frostieDude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19@retroruflo
I see your point, but still if therre was a way that I could magically press a button and this massacre would have happened to Fred Phelps and company instead of the students and faculty at VaTech, I would not hesitate to push it. - ShBm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19That's just a gay old wives' tale.
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15@gldfshnpcklejar
Their PLAN is to cause a backlash.
Most the adult Church members are lawyers, and most their income comes from lawsuits. Whenever they're assaulted, they sue. Whenever they think their First Amendment rights have been violated, they sue.
They WANT to be physically attacked, because they can reap financial rewards from the resulting lawsuits.
To make matters worse, they're so twisted with hate and evil, that I don't think they'd even mourn one or more deaths in their little cult. They'd just cash in and sue. - TreeHuggerChick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I really wish these people would just disappear off the face of the earth. The last thing that a woman who is burying her child needs is to hear all of this preaching and demonstrating. Especially preaching and demonstrating about how your child somehow deserved it, or you deserve it, or the country deserves it, or any of that other nonsense that they spew. Their church needs to catch fire with all the church members inside it.
- Dougcope, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15http://www.godhatesfigs.com/
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I wish you weren't wrong.
- orlyfactor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15If someone from their church was at my child's funeral, they'd be planning another funeral shortly.
- lordthor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16ddos

- kurttrail, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I don't believe in any religion, but you cannot call WBC Christian. Almost every Christian I have known would condemned these *****.
I sincerely apologize to ***** everywhere, that I characterized WBC as "*****." - malekish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14While I agree that I wish they would craw under a stone and leave the rest of us alone, unfortunately I also need to step forward and defend their right to freedom of speech. All speech, even offensive, is protected and cannot be limited except under extreme circumstances. While their message is extremely offensive, it does not meet the requirements of extreme circumstances.
Gods, what a horrible taste that leaves in my mouth, having to defend those bastards. - revenge7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I hate murder, but every once in a while I feel there are people that deserve it.
Every member of WBC deserves it (except for the children that have been brainwashed). - NeoPaladin394, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15I am deeply sorry for your loss.
I can't begin to imagine what you are going through. The thoughts and prayers of my family are with you and the families hurt this day. - jpowlus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Great video of the WBC pukes getting chased away from one of their protests
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZGKx2pTBQc
(This was posted by somebody else, but was buried among a few other videos... if you watch just ONE video of them, this is the one to watch, IMHO) - DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10That's actually kind of offensive to imbeciles...
- boyasunder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11While no one has caused them the grevious bodily harm they so richly deserve, I have heard that they actively hope to get into altercations with counter-protesters. Many members of the WBC have law degrees for the express purpose of suing people who get too sick of their ***** and smack them up.
