Hmm..that's awfully close to Bush's approval rating. What a coincidence - same demographic I guess? - expiredmeatbag, on 10/12/2007, -3/+138"I'm sorry thats not a hair question"

Please tell me you don't actually believe the law should be based on whether or not you like someone. - artofwar420, on 10/12/2007, -12/+78We win!!! It's like 70% no.
- Slipknotic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+58The answer's they gave are alot better than "My lawyer wont allowe me to answer that question.".
- nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -11/+69Everyone in Boston needs to drink a big glass of cranberry juice because they are obviously ALL on their periods.
- JonForTheWin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+59Where's the PEOPLE IN BOSTON ARE ***** RETARDED option? =(
(this situation merits my use of caps lock) - drewhenson, on 10/12/2007, -6/+56Digg will set them free!
- supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+50They didnt cause any traffic , the retard police did.
- wacki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42It's sad that 30% of the people either think the Aqua Teen guys deserve punishment or don't care what happens. Do people not realize that a nonviolent act of hanging a neon sign of a cartoon figure is about to be categorized as a terrorist/disturbing the peace act?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35What morons. Props to the marketing team they got the best publicity they could ask for. I swear some people are just so ***** ignorant.
"oh em gee there are wires! i'm calling the police! i've never seen wires before!"
I voted No. Do your duty and vote! - SourWorm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30Make sure your alarm clock isn't visible from the street, especially if it has batteries ... might get the bomb squad busting down your door.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28"They just hung weird looking LED crap from the bridge. Then some jackass sees it thinks it's a bomb and I am stuck in traffic."
They've been around for 2 or 3 weeks. Are you implying they've caused you to be stuck in traffic for up to 3 weeks?
Jackass... - lexington86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24You seem to be overlooking the point that out of nine cities with the sign, it was only Boston that reacted this way. In fact, law enforcement in some of the other nine cities have come out and clearly stated that the Boston police overreacted.
e.g. - In the Seattle area, authorities thought the devices were “obviously not suspicious.” http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16931200/page/2/
Stop trying to pass the blame down to people who were only hired to do a simple job. - flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30@ nixonrichard
No, I think they all just have sand in their vaginas right now. - lexington86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23@carterman [again]
Uh... dude... you just proved my point.
"Then some jackass sees it thinks it's a bomb and I am stuck in traffic." The 'jackasses' that you refer to are your fellow citizens of Boston... the two guys your dumb city is currently using as scapegoats had nothing to do with calling it a bomb and calling the police.
Oh, and nice job with the added shot of prejudice... it really helps your argument. - po43292, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25If only voting in elections were this easy.
And I would vote for whoever Digg tells me to. :] - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21These boys should be awarded in the highest regard as heros for showing every person in Boston just how unsafe they really are because of the stupidity of their city officials.
Stupidity is Terrorism. - lexington86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20@carterman
So... basically you're saying that you think it's okay for two completely innocent people to be prosecuted because they caused "traffic to suck for miles"?
I think you're missing the fact that _they_ didn't cause anything... it was your fellow citizens of Boston that turned this into such a huge abomination. - Cl1mh4224rd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21"Vote no. Clear cookies. Rinse. Repeat."
Ahh... as if these polls weren't useless enough, it's now an exercise in self gratification. Thanks! - ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19thrown? Cheezus...
- FatHed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18@carterman
You do know that those have been in multiple cities for a few weeks. By your anger to the people that put them there is blinding you to what you should be angry about; the signs are now gone, if they were bombs they have been there for weeks, the police were retarded enough to blow one up wasting more of your tax money. Your city is going to prosecute the individuals hired by a company to do what they did, not everyone is an expert on law and no one knows them all. The court case will cost your tax dollars, which should be going to education. - brufleth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17As someone who lives in Boston I'd like to point out that it wasn't so much the people of Boston as it was the over zealous emergency services of Boston that caused the problem. I was out driving around all day Wednesday because I had taken the day off to do a ton of stuff that can only be done during business hours which had piled up. I saw bomb squad vehicles driving around but nobody on the streets seemed worried.
I suspect that the police and fire departments got a little too excited about the prospect of using their shiny bomb squad trucks. I'd also like to point out that the various officials in charge of Boston's services aren't the most competent bunch. Please google up such stories as the various riots that happened in the last few years after Patriots and Red Sox wins. A more specific instance is that of the girl who was killed by a "non-lethal" crowd suppressant. There's also the instance of a tunnel collapsing and killing someone.
In my own experience I can't get building and electrical inspectors to return my calls (or answer in the first place for that matter). The administrators in Boston are known for their poor and even lethal failures. It doesn't surprise me that something like a marketing campaign would get blown all out of proportion. - lazydrumhead, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20what a false dichotomy/trichotomy!!!
they weren't in charge of the whole marketing campaign as the "no" option states, they were merely hired to do something really freaking cool - TheChihuahua, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I'm sorry, that's not a hair question.
- Jdban, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14This is just so ridiculous... Because dumb people can't tell the difference between a couple of LEDs and a bomb, these guys will probably go to jail. Terrorists don't make bombs that look like bright boards full of LEDS... they make bombs that don't look like bombs.
- econoar, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19digg me down
- lexington86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12@carterman
Actually, if you read page one of that article that I referenced you will find that the LED things were found in the same types of places in New York:
"In New York, officers went to the various locations and found only two of the devices — both attached to a highway overpass." - econoar, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18or bury you as lame
- jmaresca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10hoax
–noun
1. something intended to deceive or defraud
–verb (used with object)
2. to deceive by a hoax; hoodwink.
At what point did the two men responsible try to deceive or defraud us? - Drumrboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10This is such a loaded question.
they didnt make and mount stuff to cause all of boston to be destroyed, they made it to advertise. a few ignorant people saw this, and flipped a sh*t.
THEY DID NOT TRY TO CREATE FEAR. it was moronic people who got afraid, as they probably are if they see a middle eastern person walk by, or someone with a backpack.
seriously, would a bomb be that obvious with an array of friggin lights on it!? - matrixbandit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@carterman:
I just want you to know, I don't completely blame you for your crass ignorance. I actually think you are owed an apology on behalf of whatever school system you were in as a child, because of their obvious and glaring failure which is apparent every single time you post here on digg. Now that I've dispensed with my condolences, I'll address your point.
Since anything and everything you come across on a day in and day out basis could potentially be a bomb, how should we react? It would seem if we follow our White house administrations approach, we should live in fear 24/7, and give up any rights to freedom and self expression in exchange for the promise of a slightly safer tomorrow, a tomorrow that never comes (look at any unbiased report on the threat of terrorism pre and post war in Iraq).
That approach is exactly why the citizens and officials flipped out in Boston and why they blew, what was it, hundreds of thousands of dollars, on the 'scare'. They are living in fear, so much so that a few blinking lights makes everyone panic, and then when it turns out to be completely innocent, they have one of two options:
Option 1: Stop and think about the entire situation. Realize that no harm was intended, and no panic was intended. Realize that maybe your level of constant fear has risen beyond a reasonable level and that is why all that money, time, and effort was put into dealing with it.
Option 2: Get angry and point the finger at the ones who perpetrated the innocent act. Blame them, saying "You should have known we would freak the ***** out and lose our god damn heads, I mean come on! We are Bush Administration-led sheep! What else would you expect of us! So of course this is all your fault!" - jcaino, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14this should be, by far, the most dugg article to date
- smojo12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Once it hit the front page it got 30 diggs within about 20 seconds.
Not that this vote really matters. They will give the results of it tomorrow and spend less than a minute about it. Then they will bring out 2 people who think that this is a very serious situation and hope the guys get prison time. Thats how the news networks work. - hablo4u, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@mseneschal
Where did you read/see/hear that the artists arrested called in a bomb threat?? Where? Please provide references . . . . - Jsmakr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Whatever happens, I am glad my hair is safe at the moment.
- AriaStar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11I haven't bothered reading anything about this, but just did. Please tell me this is a joke. Can Boston really be that insanely STUPID?!
- cosmoraymond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Young Bostonians think city overreacted."
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16931200/ - Homunculiheaded, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I actually had someone at work try to reason with me that brilliant terrorist would actually plant 99 fake mooninites and one real bomb...
While compelling to the imagination, it's actually what the Joker would do NOT real terrorists, there are plenty of terrorist attacks around the world everyday and not one of them is Wacky and/or diabolically clever. - moofer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9>>>If there's any time the Digg effect might actually do some good, this is it.
Yes, because we all know that MSNBC is legally binding. - lexington86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8carterman... so clever.
Is that really all you have to say? - captinherb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Because it will be funny when Digg floods their polls and they report: "According to our poll 98.7% of people voted no they should not be prosecuted"
- ohmuffin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6they aren't pranksters
- Aluminum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"I'm sorry, that's not a hair question"
Comedy f#@king GOLD.
now hopefully these dudes will get a contract with Comedy Network or someone to produce a show.
It's only fair. - logicalnoise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6CNN reported that the judge commented that the suit seemed illogical but he wanted to leave all discussion till the actual trial. SO in my mind the judge already smells BS he's just handicapped by procedure.
- jmaresca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I listened to a Boston radio show for an hour last night and tried to call in. Their stupidity made me want to gouge out my ear drums.
Voted No.
Why do I feel like I'm voting on the outcome of their case when it goes to court? -
