"Understand facts...do not get worked up over something that isn't even true. " - Berkana, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This is not a lie: this is the doctrine of Taqqiyah--deceiving "unbelievers" to benefit the interests of Islam and Muslims. Look it up. If I remember correctly, this doctrine is found in the second Surah of the Qur'an.
Either you were ignorant of the Qur'ans teaching on this doctrine, or you were practicing Taqqiyah yourself.
I do agree about one thing: you're right about the book oaths. Even mentioning such a thing is distraction and irrelevant. - lccat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Wonder which side the a.c.l.u., "muslim terrorist" and leftist dems will take? I don't know if he also belongs to the a.c.l.u.

You forgot that women also need 4 witnesses to prove rape and if they don't, they are stoned to death in the public square so that they don't seduce these men any more. - z23rdhsuan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2this is a non-issue.
if your blog requires the drumming up of non-issues like this to generate more traffic you are simply lame. - knucklebusted, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6This is America, this is our country, our rules, our way of life. If he wants to swear on the Koran he should go to Iran/Iraq/Saudi Arabia where he'll feel more at home with beheadings, call to prayer 5 times a day from a minaret and hand choppings! Oh, wait! He's from Michigan where they want to have Muslim prayer rooms at the airport!
I thought Muslims believed in THE SAME GOD! Shouldn't any holy book be good enough for him? Others have used the bible despite not being Christians.
Frankly, I hold no organized religion in very high esteem but the followers of Mohamed are definitely way up on the list of suspected ulterior motives.
Mark my words, we cannot allow this crap to take a foothold in the US like they have in Europe or we'll be overrun with this extremist crap within a generation. - VincentIII, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Yeah... Like either Republicans or Democrats follow whats actually in the bible and not their own little agendas...
- sharpfork, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1This is even worse than a non-issue, this is yet another FABRICATED issue from the right wing noise machine. "The swearing-in ceremony for the House of Representatives never includes a religious book"
http://digg.com/politics/Right_Wing_Radio_Host_Fabricates_Controversy_To_Attack_Muslim_Congressman - kuejon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Keith Ellison just keeps making me even more proud to be from Minnesota. The right wing fundamentalists are scared silly by him! Love it!!
We're guaranteed the right to freedom of religion and if anyone stakes any claim in being a true citizen of the United States of America then they HAVE to respect this. So cry all you want you right wing fundies. KEITH ELLISON WINS! YOU LOSE! hahahahaha... oh fun.
Frankly, the Christian right doesn't even practice what Christ taught in the christian bible so why would they even swear on it? - shawnfassett, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5I understand the reactions are harsh...but they are lies that you are reacting to.
Understand facts...do not get worked up over something that isn't even true.
There are NO books that oaths are taken on for our Representatives.
Besides...why would you have him REQUIRED to take an oath on a BIBLE?
Do not let your ignorant hatred overtake common sense. - wafflekaffe, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1That's right, you intolerant hater, this is America where people have religous freedom. Why do you hate America? Like it matters. IMO, the Bible and the Koran are both superstitious nonsense. Why not swear him in on a stack of comic books?
- shawnfassett, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Have you read the Koran? Unless you've read it and understand it you probably shouldn't just repeat rumors and lies.
He will not be taking his oath on any book...just like every other representative. They DO NOT place their hand on the Bible, either.
