- vatosplace, on 10/12/2007, -3/+42Congress should get testimony from the Coons as well as the Tillman family. Waving the flag and shouting how you support the troops then finding out that this ***** has been happening is enraging.
- RubMe4Luck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+34Once you raise your right hand you're government property. That's the part the recruiter won't tell you.
- rAid135, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30I saw this when it aired on ABC. The family called Walter Reed multiple times asking for the staff to check on their son, they never did check. Finally when they opened his door, they find him dead and they say that he was already dead for approximately two days.
What.the.*****. - littlebylittle, on 10/12/2007, -3/+31There's no excuse for it. Period.
- headzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Our entire government has let everyone down. That includes the president, the republicans, and the democrats.
It's really time for a change. - lagrange, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12History will remember these as dark dark days.
- TheLoneWolf071, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12So many people talk about the war, for or against it, but most neglect those who fight and die for it's cause. It's a shame this man had to go this way, it truly is.
- 1b2a, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Pictures are hung. People are hanged.
- oMeSSiaHo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I think I've told this story before but I will again. When I started my new job I noticed my co-worker walked with a limp and a cane. When I inquired about I was told he had an IED go off under his truck in Iraq and now is injured. I then found out that the goverment wont pay for his treatments. They sent him off to get wounded and wont care for him when he's back.
My cousing fought in Aphganistan as well as Iraq. While in Iraq he had an IED go off under his truck that killed his buddies and brock his back and ripped flesh from his legs. When his time was over and he requested his scholarship money (what they always tell you about in the ads) he was refused it. It took calling a congressman and threats of legal action for him to get what he was promised. The next time you look at your "support our troops" magnet on your bumper think about what that really means and if YOU really mean it. - madm0nk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5yeah ... that's a good way to solve it .... run from your problems. And the whole "love it or leave it" is a completely unamerican attitude. This country was founded by people who fought long and hard for what they believe in. Of course their beliefs were not perfect ... but who is.
- abburdlen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Compassionate Conservatism?

That's what they think of our troops. - Loonacy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5What he's trying to say is this is NEWS with a video, therefore posted in the News topic. It's not just a video with a description.
- laserblazer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5***** the video section!
- oneblueye, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Bush...this is your legacy.
- eunosx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@ morgrar
I believe Sick Of It All worded it well..."This is not a land of revolution anymore"
an overwhelming majority of people have become to passive and just concerned about themselves to speak out against the status quo - pisceanmars, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Delineating between the two is a custom of the language, not a rule. The title is fine.
- slicedoranges, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4hanged* for crying out loud
- morgrar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4everyone wants change, but nothing has been done about it yet. why?
- d00ley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Is there a 'news' category in the Video section now? If not, STFU.
- mntbikeracer1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm a conservative I certainly didn't do this and I certainly didn't want it to happen. Don't alienate half of this country because most conservatives do not want this sort of thing to happen, most support the troops and their families to the fullest extent. Bash those in power all you want, believe me if I was in power things would be much different. But don't tell me what I am or am not.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12Whatever happened to all that Compassionate Conservatism? More like Heartless Corporatism to me
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32 more weeks and I medically seperate from the Air Force. And I am proud to no longer be affiliated with a goverment that is fighting an un-honorable war with the most honorable soilders the world ever had.
- 15charmaxwtf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Before anyone even tries to say it: Walter Reed was NOT privatised. The government hired some cronies from the private sector. So, as there was no choice in the matter for patients it was NOT the free market. When this happens it is like another arm of the government.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They won't testify, because this is a fraud.
A man checked into a hospital and killed himself, and these parents are upset they weren't notified until two days later, when they weren't even ON the list of those to notify in the event of his death.
They should be raking their daughter in law over the coals to find out why SHE didn't tell them he'd killed himself shortly after checking into the hospital. Notice how the report mentions his wife, but never goes into detail? That's because revealing that SHE was notified when her husband killed himself before his first appointment would shake the basis for their story. - GameMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Awful...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is absolutely horrendous. My heart goes out to the Coons family.
How this administration can sleep at night is beyond me. Tillman, Lynch and now Coons. What else don't we find out about?
Rest In Peace Sgt James Coons.
Thank-you for your service. Sorry we didn't help you back home.
God bless you and your family. - Monk22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2who cares?
- morgrar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2terrible. simply terrible. you'd think by now, in this day and age, with the world being interconnected, and education all over the place, we wouldn't hear of such things, or let alone have a war on terror, or even terrorism. the human race is terrible. we're destroying our planet, and ourselves.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2we need to take action NOW.
how do we know that this isn't happening right now? - SundayBrunch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Vandam is ripe for a comeback.
- phatee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2that frustrates me also when people don't know when to use hanged or hung.
- SeaMowse, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10My eyes have tears in them. My hats off to Bob Woodruff for telling such a poignant story. I grieve for this soldiers family. This is so tragic and so unnecessary. I see Bush as a murderer. He should be tried for his war crimes.
- turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3also included is text, which just so happens to not be a video.
- DaFunk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This unfortunately is a little glimpse as to what truly socialized medicine in the US would look like. Need an example? Look no further than our VA health care system.
- Caffeinate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very sad. We desperately need change in this country. When our people are sent to war and then have health problems, they need to be helped, not ignored. This is tremendously sad. Whoever tried to hide this needs to be brought to trial along with whoever is responsible for the poor treatment our men and women are receiving at this "hospital".
We are to blame if we let people pass the buck, cover up, and avoid accountability for crap like this. I have to go do something else now; this made me 2 parts mad as hell, and 3 parts sick inside. This isn't about politics - this is about human decency. - Monk22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@morgar, eunosx
its because most of us have JOBS, and FAMILY to take care of and dont have time to sit around and troll digg complaining that no one is doing anything. i have two jobs, between that sleeping i dont have alot of time to make national policy change a big priority. thats what they congress is there for, not that they are aware of that apparently. they would rather squable and bitch then fix anything. and im a conservative and i also think what happened at walter reid is disgusting, so everyone who continues this "you conservativesliberals blah blah evil blah sweeping generalization blah" ***** can STFU. are you really that ignorant to think your views are the right ones? thats the whole point of this damn country is that i can think whatever i want and you cant do a damn thing about it except hope that more people vote for your side than mine. you want change, then go vote simple concept. - MSX2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pat Tillman was shot by friendly fire, Jessica Lynch wasn't a hero, her gun jammed. Everything about the government is all about perception, not about right or wrong, good and evil, fake or real, everything in the government's eye is perception. But damn, this guy hung himself. Lesson learned, don't trust the government under any circumstances.
- madm0nk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@morgrar
Most people are scared of change. Also most people accept the world with which they are presented. All through history dramatic changes have been made by the few .... not the majority. - jhr007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nationalized government healthcare anyone?
- 1b2a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@pisceanmars
This is true, but I do it to spare people of unnecessary ignorance in front of people that care. I was blunt on purpose in order to not offend. This is, after all, tragic news. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4cwo655321, that was so hilarious that I logged in just to digg you down.
- Pfhreak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Bash those in power all you want, believe me if I was in power things would be much different. But don't tell me what I am or am not."
Those in power (Bush) were the ones who popularized the term "compassionate conservative". Nobody's telling you what you are or are not, they're ripping apart more of Bush's rhetoric. - EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I can't wait until we all have this same level of wonderful government health care.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4is it really necessary to be a dick and comment on his english when a topic as serious and unfortunate as is being discussed.
Get a life and join the real world. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Please check the video section. You will see many videos have text with them. If it says video in the title it should be in the video section.
- manti5, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Damnit! This goes in the video section!
- rabidjade, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Then move out of this country. Canada has plenty of room.
