- slashdotted, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19I guess if you didn't follow the trial closely (Fox news didn't send a single reporter to the trial, the NY Post didn't cover it), you might come to their idiotic (or intentionally dishonest?) conclusion.
If there was no underlying crime, why did Libby lie repeatedly?
If there was no underlying crime, why did Libby obstruct justice?
He was found guilty of both.
Why would he lie and obstruct justice unless he was trying to hide an underlying crime?
Outing a covert (yes, covert) CIA agent whose job was to stop nuclear proliferation sounds like
a pretty important underlying crime. It's treason, actually.
Could this be a motivation to lie and obstruct justice? - ZWarren69, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20Pardon me when I don't cry when scooter goes to jail. ***** Scooter Libby!
- slashdotted, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15“Your lies blocked an extremely serious investigation, and as result you will indeed go to prison,”
Judge Reggie Walton told Libby. - Dweller99, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11you know... I dont mean to call you out specifically, I just kind of hit a point with all this Ron Paul stuff.
Enough already. I can not read a single thread around here any more without someone mentioning Ron Paul. I get it. You like him. Great. I wish I had a candidate that I had half the enthusiasm for at this point in the game, but the bottom line is you guys are starting to sound like that born-again Christian that manages to bring Jesus Christ into every conversation. You know, that guy at work that you think is a nice guy and all, but would he PLEASE stop talking about Christ EVERY TIME YOU SEE HIM?
"So Bob, how was your weekend?"
"Great! I spent the whole weekend studying my bible so I would be prepared for Church on Sunday. By the way Steve, have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior?"
"So Bob, how was your weekend?"
"Great! I spent the whole weekend preparing for the latest Ron Paul comment blitz on Digg. By the way Steve, have you accepted Ron Paul as your personal savior?" - EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8The fact that Libby wasn't the original leaker makes his obstruction _worse_ not better. In addition to being criminal, it's criminally stupid to lie about a crime you didn't commit.
It's almost as if Libby thought he was protecting Cheney... as if Libby thought Cheney was guilty and so fell on his sword to protect his master... now why in the world would Libby think that? - swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5***** Scooter Libby. I may cry when Bush pardons him.
- swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5clinton was acquitted you apologist *****. Libby should have absolutely been asked who was responsible for leaking the identity of a covert agent as an act of political retaliation, and he also should have answered the ***** question honestly.
- swrostmore, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5the trial is ongoing, as Libby is in the process of appealing. I am confident that Bush will pardon him as the second that the appeal gets overturned.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5***** and I would have cleaned up my comment, but give me a break.
- shootdashit, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7ron paul showed intelligence on this question and most of all respect. they asked for yes and no answers and ron paul said "no" in respect to the other candidates. and ***** face rudy really pissed me off with this last night by doing whatever he wanted and not respecting the rules or his peers. we understand it's an issue for debate rudy. he showed me the leadership of bush by not listening and doing whatever he wanted without thinking of the others there on stage.
- Dweller99, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Wow.. you need to switch to decaf or something.
I could just be a dick and tell you to go ***** yourself, but instead I chose to politely point out that the Ron Paul spammers are doing more harm than good at this point by bringing up Ron Paul in every possible instance. Some people chose to accept it as was intended, and some like yourself decided to take it as some sort of personal attack.
In short, go ***** yourself. - thcobbs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Fair enough... but I will lose even more confidence in him if he pardons someone for the same crime for which Clinton was impeached.
- pintomp3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1the republican debates (and to a lesser extent the democratic debates) were all about how partisan they can be. this is the primaries. the hillary spent her time attacking bush while most of the republicans spent their time attacking the democrats. the only one to blame democrats and republicans equally was pretty much mike gravel.
- thcobbs, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I said this before and I'll say it again.
He committed perjury... Send his ass to jail.
And congrats to the President for not pardoning him. - jessestimpson, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Perhaps the Ron Paul talk seems a little smothering, but the difference here is time. There is only so much time before the primaries, and really, it's not very much. If Ron Paul's campaign people and the general public who support him do not work to get his name out, he will be further censored by the mainstream media until his campaign is forgotten.
- sbrassard, on 10/11/2007, -6/+4With a nickname like "Scooter" he should be in jail.
Rudy is a *****.

Ron Paul 2008!!! - qazz, on 10/11/2007, -5/+3Reason is so scary. Think emotionally.
- jameskong15, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1@Dweller99
Thanks for telling us what we should write about here on the internet. I'm glad we all made you the person who will decide what is and is not allowed here.
You should pull your head out of your ass and figure out that not everything is about you. We will talk about whatever we want to talk about and you can do the same. Now shut the ***** up, pass up what you don't want to read, and bury it if you feel like it makes you cool (but don't be surprised when we return the favor against you). - JD52, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1Just like Bill Clinton.... He was lying in response to questions that should not have been asked.
WTF is wrong with you people. A touch of common sense would go a long way in this country.
