- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+76Fleisher came out of retirement to do this because he found that he really missed lying every day.
- shawnfassett, on 10/10/2007, -17/+74Republicans love the war....hate the soldiers.
- biggyfred, on 10/10/2007, -8/+34I miss Ari. He was the embodiment of disgusting during his time as press secretary. He's affectionately known as "Ari the Serpent" and "Ari Of The Forked Tongue" in my household.
He's a rare breed, a special hybrid of lying, hypocritical scumbag that'll say anything to make a buck and support his master (whoever that happens to be). Please don't ever leave the spotlight, Ari. We need to remember just how bad it got when we explain to our kids how you and yours hosed America.
God bless him. - wealer, on 10/10/2007, -8/+29Once a Bush flak, always a Bush flak.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22Or already spent his previously earned "lying money".
- orelses, on 10/10/2007, -6/+26Defending Iraq, Destroys America. Protecting their borders and streets and not ours.
- Apokalyps2547, on 10/10/2007, -5/+24The reigns of the Republican party are in two hands: the neo-cons and the theocrats (who never mind killing non-believers). While not all Republicans are pro-war, the Party definately is.
- cmwotring, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19You're right. It's not a huge deal. However...If you're going to use someone to spread your ideals than at least take the time to get their name. If you genuinely have an interest in their story than you would know their name.
- RCinBigD, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16What does Iraq have to do with 9/11 and the fight against terrorism? From the video: "Congress was right to fight terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan." and "They attacked US. And they will again. They won't stop in Iraq." I respect these guys tremendously for the sacrifices they make but the logic is faulty. We will never be told, but I would to know if he was reading from a script or if it is off the cuff. It just follows the party line a little too well for my liking. "It's no time for politics." No, it isn't, but politics is exactly what your message will be used for and you had to know that when you recorded it.
- MWeather, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16The only Republicans left are the Neo-cons. That's why there is such high support for the war in Republican polls. The pro-war folks are the only ones who haven't left the party yet.
- indicas, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16It isn't? What would you call using the vets as political pawns to support the war? What about showing the 9/11 attack and again trying to make the non-existent link to Iraq?
Smells of propagandist tactics and I'll have none of it. - indicas, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15I've never cursed my TV so much after watching this segment. These ads are horrible. They do not sway me towards the war in any way, in fact my hatred for it and those who push it like these people has only grown.
I thank the host for asking what I was thinking - how many of the terrorists on those planes were Iraqi? Evidently asking that question makes us "living in the past."
*****. - akula696969, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17Really? You just produce a multi-million dollar campaign about the story of an American hero and are using to beat the drums of war and you never bother to learn the mans name??? This is not a simple case of forgetting someone you just met, this is a case of not giving a ***** about anything but the end results.....who cares who the players are...
- ballast, on 10/10/2007, -8/+21I have a hard time watching crap like that...
- CheckPlease, on 10/10/2007, -7/+18Like Bush could ever remember every soldier he's ever used. It began the first time somebody helped him get out of an Alabama Air National Guard base to do blow and drink whiskey. If he ever thought about soldiers and started treating them like people, he might have to develop a strategery for the war or sumthin'. Now watch this drive.
- neoblaque, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Why does www.freedomswatch.org need to spend $25,000,000.00 to get "their" message across? If the surge report next month (edited by the White House) can stand on it's own merits, who needs to trumpet about it? Oh yeah, that old saw, bah, buh, but, but the liberal media! My guess is that the theocracy/military/industrial complex floated them all of this funding.
- Haohmaru, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Man, he look like crap now. Looks like he aged 20 years. Must be all that clean livin'.
- bemenaker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9The man give his body, mind, major part of his life to service this country. The LEAST they could do is remember his fuhqin name when they exploit him.
- AriaStar, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10He can't be bothered to remember one name?
- oderdigg, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11Burried.. just like your comment.
- mikeylopez, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6what pissed me off the most was that this ***** mad that soldier say "they attacked us". Wtf are republicans still on that Iraq has something to do with 911, jesus christ even the president says there wasn't.
- mojibyrd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Can you spell P.R.O,P.O.G.A.N.D.A.
- hawkeye17, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I am more convinced every day that Bush and his gang are a bunch of ***** fascists.
- theclashrocker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6This isn't trivial at all. Forgetting someones name in everyday conversation is one thing, but to forget the name of the soldier that's representing you and what you stand for is completly uncalled for. Ari Fleischer cares about the troops, the war, and not pulling out, so much, that he couldn't even have the dignity to remember the name of the troop supporting those very issues. He then goes on to defend Bush's comments that Vietnam could have been won if we stayed there longer--and convienently ties it in with this war. The politicans knew Vietnam was a lost cause, yet they still let 10s of 1000s of servicemen die to get reelected. No soldiers should die because of political gains.
- chowdah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4What's really classic is that this is not propaganda - it is disinformation at it's best, as well as a little back-door revisionist history.
Who caught the fact that while he was saying "They did this to us before, and will do it again", the image was that of Flight 175 just before hitting the WTC? What the commercial implies is that "they" were Iraqis, when in reality the majority of "they" were actually Saudi. The commercial is clearly trying to blur the line between the war in Iraq ( a war with no purpose ) and the War on Terror ( a war with no goals, or end ).
I think Americans should band together and start a War on Fear. The first step would be the replacement of the current Administration, and all of it's support. The end of the war would be when all the fear mongers on tv and in politics are gone and we have a productive society based on peace. THAT is a war that could actually end. - williamdyer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I wonder how much AIPAC money is in those warmongering propaganda pieces.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8you are an embarrassment to this country. Hey douche Ari is using the soldier for political purposes and spent 25 mil to produce and air this ***** and he does not even give a ***** about the soldiers name that he is taking advantage of. Don't you get it kid?
- petron99, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Bohica - you are pathetic. Quick look something shiny over there!
- VitriolAndAngst, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6At least the BushCo apologists now have to say; "I dislike Bush but..."
Because everyone knows that if you confess to liking Bush, you have zero credibility -- just like Bush. The Main Stream Media and the White House can trot out Petrayus, and even HE can't get half the people to believe him -- probably because we know that his report will be typed up in the White House. - sleastack, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3In a perfect world, they would all be executed in front of the world... There would be celebrations everywhere... Then all the other little fascist wannabe ***** ***** out there would think twice about dragging the world into some ***** for their own personal gain...
- jdubhub, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'd be willing to bet he would know the soldier's name if it was his own son. That's the primary difference between the chickenhawks and the common citizen; the chickenhawks don't care how many troops die because they don't have any family blood invested over there.
I'd like to see a law passed where the first troops sent to any future conflict will consist of the sons and daughters of politicians and corporate officers of the military industrial complex. Maybe then they'll consider the cost of war. - nakani, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7@MWeather: excepting Ron Paul, of course. He's actually against the war.
- heresy_fnord, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I wouldn't say they hate the soldiers, they just don't ***** care about them. Soldiers are just expendable "items" or "equipment". When they run out, they consider drafting people for the never-ending war on terror.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I'm sure if you did that for injured troops, you would remember them.
- williamdyer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Damn straight!
Anyone who calls himself a Republican and isn't horrified by how state and local government has been steamrolled by the Homeland Security apparatus is a stinking neocon fraud. Reagan stood up in front of the nation and called our occupying army of federal armed bureaucrats "jackbooted thugs." THAT is the true spirit of Republicanism. - yojiffyskippy, on 10/10/2007, -7/+9Is this the "Two wrongs make a right" argument? If so, then well done.
- Seeker135, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ahhh more "compassionate conservatism". Just makes you wish Ari could hug an IED, doesn't it?
- akula696969, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4You are claiming this guy is an "actor"?
- bbardlbradd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3If I were to ever have seen this commercial without digg pointing it out to me, I'd be just as outraged! "No time for politics"!!!!?!?!??!??!!!!??1?!/?!/????/ Are you ***** kidding me??? No time to think, just go kill... "They attacked us, and they will again, they won't stop in Iraq"... WHAT THE ***** ARE THEY EVEN DOING IN IRAQ!!?? THEY ARE THERE B/C OF US!!!! Was Iraq, before we got there, like "Omfg, America, ever1's dying, WMD's, insurgeons everywhere!!! Come, please save us, kill our leader, take our oil, set us up a new democracy!" No, I don't think so. And Is he supposed to be some kind of prophet!? "They will again"?
This is horrible propaganda designed to keep us in a war that we shouldn't be in. And why do they keep saying they want to make America safe!? Like, someday when all of the "terrorists" (/activists/radical islamic/insurgeons) are dead there will be nothing else to threaten us? Why is it so hard to face the truth? America will never be "Safe". No matter how many terrorists we kill, no matter how many nations we "Liberate". We will still have a government to fear, we will still have the murderers, rapists, child molesters, obesity, radiation (from the sun even), natural disasters, global warming, traffic accidents, stairs to fall down, mad cow disease, aids, gang fights, drug dealers, theives, (for you republicans out there: abortion and gays!!!OMFG) etc...
By killing a few reckless radicals we're not going to save our children from having to do something about some problem... - ReturnToFreedom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Is this administration and the people supporting it so pathetically devoid of any scruples as to insinuate a link between 9-11 and Iraq? If so, isn't that enough to stop trusting anything else they say and bring the troops home?
- seniorfrito, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3*****.
***** the government. - IbraAlYahud, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That is so stupid, guys. There is absolutely no significance to the fact that the dude didn't know the soldiers name. Everybody just wants to find new ways to ridicule the Bush administration. This complaint is hardly valid.
- wendelgee2, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Yup, that was problem #48 of 50. Problem #1: Occupying a foreign country.
- GabrielS, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The groups mission is to appeal to members of Congress. If you have followed the votes on the hill and their stated opposition to the surge then you know this group is appealing to Republican swing votes more than it is appealing to Democrats.
So what you are arguing is that Freedom Watch is spouting the party line to members of it's own party. Run with that. It's a winner. - Seeker135, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The report will be written in the White House. Make sure to drink the Kool-Aid before reading. If you want to believe..........
- bbardlbradd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's not only the state that needs to change though, it's the people that make up the state. By that I mean the average citizen. Go out on the streets and ask people if they know anything about what's going on right now in US politics... even something like the 08 election debates... then take the people that do know what's going on and ask them more about it, like why they think a certain way... you'll find that most people follow their parent's ideas or what the mainstream media suggests.
It's sick, to see such a proud nation of intelligent cattle, talking down the the world. More than half of the people that make up this state are blind to anything that doesn't show on their television sets.
Yes, foreign policy needs to change, that's a given, but the more serious problem is ourselves. We are to blame. This state is ran by us, the people, and every day we end up giving a little more away, a little gun control here, a little privacy there... soon all of the decisions will be left to the big guys on top... The worlds most glorious free state, will have lost it's power from it's own citizens giving it away to move back to a true republic, or worse, a dictatorship... a dictatorship that claims to bring safety by spreading it's troops thin across the world and start wars over control of resources, to keep it's citizens happy, to keep them fat and apathetic.
What a shame it would be, to even hear of a nation so foolish as to hand it's pride, it's hard work, it's cold blooded dedication, it's history, it's heritage, it's dead soldiers, it's sacrifices, it's idea, and it's freedom away for something as superficial as security. We should all be fighting to keep our nation TRUE. We should be able to all stand up and shout " I AM AMERICA!!!", but no, I know many who can't. This today, the America that we see today isn't an idea anymore. It's not a dream, it's not a government even. It's a fine tuned capitalist machine. It's hear to keep us alive and jaded.
People need to wake up before it gets out of hand. We need to take action. Just b/c the rest of the population isn't doing or saying anything doesn't mean you shouldn't. You have it in you to be the next great american hero. The one that saves it's people from themselves in this new world were our needs are taken care of, and our wants are saturated with shallow near meaningless material possessions.
We are the worlds leading Superpower. It's time to act like it. Lead by example. - Seeker135, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Oh bugger off.
- ClosedCaption, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1HEY!! Who has the time to remember the names of props anyway? /sarcasm
- Seeker135, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Don't you understand? That's all Bush is qualified for. He SHOULD be signing condolences, instead of extending tours, increasing troop levels, and lying about EVERYTHING.
- cortlandjim, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I saw the ad and was quite put off, they are using political ads to PROMOTE WAR! How sick has the right become? they are advocating killing for the sake of "national security". I got an idea how about we improve our border security and keep our noses out of other countries business. just because your rich buddies want to do business in these countries doesn't mean we need to threaten them or influence their governments.
