- aquaboogy, on 07/24/2008, -12/+120I am serving in Iraq right now seperated frommy children and my parents. For John McCain to make such a assertion that another elected official intentionally seeks to lose this war is a total disrespect to me, soldiers who have already died and made the ultimate sacrifice, and also to our loved ones that we have left at home.
John McCain is a total disgrace and in no way represents the discipline, pride and leadership that the military and America has to offer.
His assertion that Barack Obama wants to lose the war intentionally is the lowest, most miserable, saddest, sickest attempt to score political points imaginable. John McCain you are a sour, sour man and a poor leader...
4****OBAMA*****FROM****IRAQ - MichaelMelen, on 07/24/2008, -11/+75McCain needs to stop bashing Obama and focus on his own stuff.
- bbqsalad, on 07/25/2008, -5/+43I would like to know what winning the war entails?
- JumpingJack79, on 07/25/2008, -5/+34But Obama-bashing is the only "stuff" that he has, besides "winning" in Iraq.
Oh, and oil drilling. - jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -4/+28BHO = work with allies to commit a global approach to terrorism, thus making it irrelevant and incapable = win the War on Terror
BHO = gradual decrease in troop levels = more pressure on Iraqi government to make political reforms and force them to rely less on the United States for everything = Iraqis governing Iraqis = Victory in Iraq
Focus more in Afghanstan = Destruction of Al-Qaeda's ideological base = Win in Afghanistan
Using multilateral diplomacy to stop Iranian nuclear weapons proliferation = abolishment of Iranian nuclear weapons program = Success with Iran
We cannot go it alone any more, and the world loves Obama. Making this a global issue will ensure success and Mr. Barack HUSSEIN knows that.
Barack HUSSEIN Obama for President. - bunghole999, on 07/25/2008, -3/+27But we can't leave until we find the WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION !!!
- sesmm, on 07/25/2008, -0/+20Its very hard to blame obama for losing a war that is already lost. We did not get any benefits from it so it is a waste of time.
- Pedobear, on 07/25/2008, -4/+22Go back to bed, Limbaugh.
- charliebucketts, on 07/25/2008, -4/+21Please explain what "win the war" looks like.
The real question is:
Will the Iraqi people accept a puppet government from a foreign power? I wouldn't. Nor would I accept somebody sucking out my oil for less than market price. Things comes in to focus when put yourself in the position of the people getting the shaft - bjornski, on 07/25/2008, -2/+17If McCain ran on his record, or the issues, he'd lose.
He can't afford to call attention to himself. - Verchiel77, on 07/25/2008, -2/+15Typical.
Honor the troops until they say something you don't like, then "they can't understand the meaning of sacrifice."
Any serviceperson over there is far better acquainted with sacrifice than you valiant keyboard kommandoes of the 82nd chairborne ever could be. - JenovaWitness77, on 07/25/2008, -5/+18What war? Republicans like to call this occupation a war because they think that, for some strange reason, it legitimizes going into Iraq in the first place.
- bjornski, on 07/25/2008, -2/+15Spoken as someone too scared to enlist.
***** off, chicken-hawk. - GrammerPants, on 07/25/2008, -2/+14I'm not American and have always been confused over what exactly you guys define as winning or losing in Iraq. What specifically are you going to lose if you leave? And what specifically are you going to win if you stay?
- soccerman90, on 07/25/2008, -2/+13i guess you get a cookie or some other baked good
- dcmjzero, on 07/25/2008, -1/+12he went to war. he made the sacrifice. i didn't see a complaint in his comment. so all we have left is you saying "please protect me from my unfounded fears and don't complain about it."
you owe someone an apology. - aptanalogy, on 07/25/2008, -1/+12Dude.. WTF is WRONG with you? Supporting a presidential candidate and disagreeing with a war means, somehow, that one isn't making a sacrifice? If this person really is a military member in Iraq right now, at least honor him for his service, despite the actions of boobs who sent America's highly trained men and women to die in the sand thousands of miles away for questionable reasons.
- VinnieDaMac, on 07/25/2008, -2/+13"It seems to me that Senator McCain would rather lose his dignity in order to win a political campaign."
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+12"but if you guys don't do your job, then more people would be missing their families due to more strikes on US soil."
From what? Saddam's mobile weapons labs? - zerozed, on 07/25/2008, -1/+11I'm an active duty officer who has led troops over there. Nobody has ever been able to explain what "winning" entails.
Maybe the Republicans should throw another yellow ribbon magnet on their SUVs and just STFU. - patpl22391, on 07/25/2008, -2/+12Replace an old man with an OLDER man? lol!
- octurian, on 07/25/2008, -1/+11And to think, those of us who did wear, and continue to wear the uniform willing lay our lives on the line so that you can spout whatever form of drivel you wish. This solider has more courage, honor, and understanding than you will have in your entire life. Combat especially does that to a person. If you THINK (and i use that term loosely) that he doesn't understand sacrifice, please sir, go down to your local recruiter, and swear in. Tell us then of YOUR sacrifice, and YOUR willingness to "do your job."
While those of us who were willing to lay down our lives for your right to free speech understand we can be sent anywhere, anytime, for any reason, just in our hearts or not, we will always do the task assigned, as it is our duty, and our honor. Perhaps you should look up those words yourself. - twiztidsinz, on 07/25/2008, -3/+13He was gonna...... but he forgot.
- dcmjzero, on 07/25/2008, -3/+12define "lose" and "win" in this situation. you don't even know what they mean at this point. for me (and most of america if you look at polls), winning is getting out of iraq. and, now, the democratically elected government has asked us to leave. that is a victory in itself.
- jevaun, on 07/25/2008, -1/+9Let's imagine for a second how huge the outrage would be if the situation were reversed and it was obama who accused mccain of wanting to lose the war. is there ANY doubt that the republican spin machine would be on overdrive demanding an apology from the obama campaign and calling for the end of his candidacy?!?!?
- Digger1123, on 07/25/2008, -3/+11So did we also lose WW1,WW2, The Gulf War, among others when the first soldier died? NO...
- cheezintern, on 07/25/2008, -3/+11You're a moron, and an idiot. You need to stop believing the BS dubya says about the 'axis of evil,' and how the 'terrorists' are evil doers and we're the white knights here to save everyone. There's no winning or losing in this situation. There's only a decrease in suicide bombings and insurgent attacks to a point that we can say mission accomplished, again.
- More4, on 07/25/2008, -1/+9P.S. - have you washed your best white sheets for the Friday night meeting? Idiot.
- feanix, on 07/25/2008, -0/+8Why would Barack Obama *want* the US to lose the war? How would that benefit him?
- Verchiel77, on 07/25/2008, -3/+11McCain's "Victory:" staying and getting killed until we stop getting killed, then staying some more.
- dcmjzero, on 07/25/2008, -3/+10how is getting out losing the war? you make no sense. what does an army do when it wins? they go home. going home = winning.
- wishninja, on 07/25/2008, -3/+10wow that was dumb.
- cheezintern, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9This is the GOP we're talking about. The republican smear machine hasn't even begun spin out the muck.
- StaticThunder, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9We killed more Iraqi's, created more refugees, caused more morbidity, than Saddam ever did, and you think we've done good in the world.
It must be nice to be so big that when you throw your weight around you can't even tell who you just crushed beneath your big fat ass. - bjornski, on 07/25/2008, -1/+8And yet Mugabe walks free.
- Ebonsteel, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6Zarchon, your world-view and ideology are obviously pretty warped to the right if you think Obama is VERY Liberal. As far left as you can go? He is INCREDIBLY centrist.
If he can't represent you and your views, I suspect your views are concentrated on homosexuals, guns, unborn babies, and the bible ... and your self-loathing closeted desire to have homosexual sex with gun-toting bible-babies. - bjornski, on 07/25/2008, -2/+8He could have always taken 3 Apache's, an A-10 and 200 soldiers to go visit the "safe" streets of Baghdad.
Would that photo-op have made you happier? - vanebeard, on 07/25/2008, -3/+9Yeah, that sucks, just using troops for a photo-op ego trip. You know what he should have done was fly in a fighter jet and then land on a aircraft carrier off the coast of Hawaii and pretend its a war zone with a big banner behind him that says "Mission Accomplished".
- scojac, on 07/25/2008, -2/+8What happened to "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED"?
- erad222, on 07/25/2008, -3/+8You're an idiot.
- singingsox, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5This war is EXACTLY like Vietnam, and we all know how that worked. It is impossible to win a war against rebel troops. A lot of the people in Iraq WANT the US out, just like in Vietnam, where the majority were for communism. It will be impossible to install an effective government while we're still in Iraq, just as it was in Vietnam. Bad things happen when the US tries to interfere with other country's governments, especially when we can barely run our own.
- deadfrank, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5thanks
- dcmjzero, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5jewish conspiracy theories, bad grammar, and complaints about a user run site. anything else you would like to add?
- bjornski, on 07/25/2008, -6/+11You can't win an occupation.
- malex, on 07/25/2008, -3/+8The ironic thing, Thcobbs, is that Obama has said the same thing. "We need to be as careful getting out as we were careless getting in."
I think he has a better chance of achieving that than McCain does. - rewinn, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5McCain has gone over the line by, basically, accusing Obama of treason.
He promised a civil campaign; I expected he'd break that promise through surrogates; I must admit I didn't expect McCain himself to sink so low.
Live and learn. McCain has no honor. - TypeEE, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4No matter what the war turn out to be, US is loosing $3trillion because of this war.
- dcmjzero, on 07/25/2008, -3/+7a stable government in iraq is not possible as long as we are there. any government will be considered a puppet of the us. our only chance at winning as you define is to leave.
plus, iran will not try to seize power. who wants to occupy that ***** of a country? - ZenMojo, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5Don't worry. Once they clean up the oil spill at the platform he was going to visit in Louisiana to applaud how safe offshore drilling is, he'll be back on his game.
- bjornski, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Just to annoy you, Quad. Just to annoy you.
And if you knew a little bit about me, you'd realize I'm one of the last people you'd want with a gun in their hands. -
