- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -71/+234Impeach. Indict. Incarcerate.
Repeat as necessary for each neocon, as necessary. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+97You people DO realize that impeachment doesn't mean removal from office.
Clinton got impeached - was he removed? Nope. - brundlefly76, on 10/12/2007, -5/+90Another misleading rewritten digg headline.
To be clear: The Vermont Senate has no formal role in Presidential impeachment, what they voted on was a resolution to ask congress to impeach him. - shannobn, on 10/12/2007, -12/+86Bush must be signing a new law right now that says "you cannot impeach me."
- arrenlex, on 10/12/2007, -13/+84Please let's impeach Cheney first.

Google it - Ourai, on 10/12/2007, -10/+46Agreed... y'all hate Cheney now? If Bush gets the ax first, then we're stuck with *President* Cheney.
- renegadeafk, on 10/12/2007, -30/+66My state pwns
- Arcesius, on 10/12/2007, -15/+48Psh... let's just make him take a psychological test, and he'll be deemed unfit to serve as president
- ThePixelator, on 10/12/2007, -7/+38President Cheney....
*shudder* - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+41Just ask him to swallow a pretzel and his reign will be over!
- Nowheredan, on 10/12/2007, -20/+48Not so much the people who we disagree with so much as the people who have repeatedly violated the trust of the American people and broken laws in the process.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27I think that protected him against war crimes .. not necessarily impeachment.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27He did.
It was passed along with the Military Commissions Act of 2006.
...or did you miss that memo? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17"I think that protected him against war crimes .. not necessarily impeachment."
True. Very true... but the impeachment will largely be based off war crimes, I'd imagine. Particularly for lying to get involved in the war to begin with. That's been rather outstanding and IS ILLEGAL.
I mean, I'm sure they can find other things, but I'd figure that's the bulk of it. - offwithyourtv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12"It is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it...Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."
--Douglas Adams, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" - BigW, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14State government doesn't "get it". They're passing a worthless resolution.
If they really had the balls and were really as mad as they say then they'd do the thing they can do and secede. Of course that'd probably be a bit much for someone who's only in office for less than 2 more years. - FlaG8r, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17For starters he violated the 1970's surveillance act that created FISA and violated the Geneva Convention which does count as US law since we are signatories.
More importantly, the President doesn't actually have to violate a law to get impeached. . - HunterTV, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16I thought peaches came from Georgia not Vermont.
- stuman77, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14crapfactory mantra: [explitive] [american stereotype] [explitive] [hasty generalization] [american stereotype] [explitive]
- sloof70, on 10/12/2007, -15/+23Are you kidding?! Yeah, sure. This is exactly what we need right now. He's barely able to do his job as it is, let's just make it worse.
Besides, you kids want Cheney? - stuman77, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@flag8r:
Actually, Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution:
"The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." - orxor, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15@zybch
A merkin (first use, according to the OED, 1617) is reported to be a pubic wig, worn by prostitutes after shaving their genitalia to eliminate lice or to disguise the marks of syphilis. A similar, though anachronistic, claim not made in OED is that merkins were worn for nude stage appearances. ... - Griffology, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12Or he was just showing his support and grief for those related to the tragedy... The guy's not always pure evil you know.
- CaptShmo, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12whatever happened to tar and feathering?
- delelles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8A great anecdote from the other night:
I got a pizza delivered from really good indie restaurant in my neighborhood...Paid the delivery guy in cash and got a few 1 dollar bones back from him...Someone had scribbled something on one of the bills...I turned on the lamp, and this is what it said:
FIGHT FASCISM IN THE UNITED STATES - WWW.RONPAUL2008.COM
Brought a tear of downright joy to my eye...I'm having it laminated, framed, then dipped in gold. - lacronicus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10clinton got a bj, bush got us a second vietnam. i dunno about you, but i can tell you who id vote for.
- musicmantrs, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10@mabhatter
The House brings Articles of Impeachment, not the Senate. - fuzzmeister, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7If Congress was at the stage where they were actually impeaching Bush, I'm pretty sure they'd repeal the Military Commissions Act too.
- 4Prophecy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10What? You didn't see this same article with something near 1000 diggs?
http://digg.com/politics/Vermont_Senate_Impeach_the_President - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Why am I getting modded down? Have any of you actually read the act that was passed, or do you just assume that statement is not in there?
You'll be surprised at your answer. - Wacer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I'm pretty sure Clinton got Impeached in the house but not in the Senate.
- SIRBERUS, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8All I know is that you have to get several people out of washington before a sane person gets to be president.
Kick out Bush... Hail President Cheney. Get rid of him? President Pelosi. After her? Byrd.
*sigh* - burgerboy06, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7If we ass diggers and bloggers are going to be respected as unofficial journalists, we need to be impartial in our titles and summaries. I don't know how many times I have read a title that is clearly bias. I don't want to read an article when its already slanting the story. The reason why Wikipedia is thought to be inaccurate is because of these few who put their bias opinion or slant in the articles. Sometimes I thing I just just turn off everything but offbeat news on digg.
- crapfactory, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6you do know that your government keeps a database of your medical prescriptions, right? bet hey, it's just for your protection, that way they can pick out the few really crazy dudes. and then some.
- Wargalas, on 10/12/2007, -14/+17Can we do the same for William Jefferson? Or does impeachment proceedings only work for Republicans?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+12... you forgot the "/sarcasm" thing.
- Salgat, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Didn't notice how much it being symbolic was emphasized?
- mercano, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4As a Vermont resident, allow be to say whoopied doo dah. He's also been "impeached" in quite a few town meetings the last few years, which was the topic of last week's Doonesbury. Until this comes up in the federal House of Representatives, though doesn't really mean anything more then everyone and their brother demanding that Gonzales step down.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6It really would be fascinating to know the IQ score of each president.
- misfit410, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7If you think there is anything honorable about it, you are an idiot.
- Alawn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Sorry people but you can't remove the president for bad policy decisions. If you don't like them then don't vote for them next time. Unless he commits a major crime that is your only option.
- Glugory, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8YES! BECAUSE HAVING DARTH CHENEY IN OFFICE WOULD BE SOOOOO MUCH BETTER!
Idiots. - headingeast, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6JoeDawg: Impeach. Indict. Incarcerate.
can we also incinerate? - WhiteRaven, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4soot, your ignorance is displayed by every post you make. If you really want to help sway people against Bush, you should probably just shut up and hope someone else comes along that won't make a fool of themselves.
- inactive, on 09/19/2008, -0/+1Lets see how many Democrats along with Republicans voted to give President Bush the go ahead for the war. Congress backed him every step of the way. As Commander in Chief he has the duty to protect and serve. These people in Vermont really need a reality check. Who has killed more people in Iraq, Islamic Neanderthals or Coalition Forces? We are targeting Islamic Neanderthals who wish for Global Islamic Theocracy, they kill innocent people without a care. To them the end justifies the means. They strap bombs to their children and send them in to market places. This is Bush's fault? You do not understand what we are fighting here. These Islamic Neanderthals want to totally remove the western life style from the face of the globe. That does include Vermont when I looked last at a map? So far this year we have had more people killed on the streets of Chicago than GIs killed in Iraq that is a fact. Last I heard Chicago wasn't a war zone just some place where Obama organized.
- afbase, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4hmmm ya which is lesser of the two evils, bush or cheney? I like the stupid one much better.
- perogi21, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7@Maverick0420
