- Hiredguns, on 10/12/2007, -29/+139Vermont, the only state in the u.s that has any balls. Gotta respect that.
- jsully, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44There's a big difference between balls and non-binding balls.
- Mandeep, on 10/12/2007, -17/+51@donwilson: Are you a ***** moron? You must live under a rock or not have electricity if you can't see what's wrong with out country today.
- oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -14/+47"Impeach anyone you don't agree with."
thats not at all what this is about. Democrats aren't trying to impeach every republican, and the republicans aren't trying to impeach every democrat. They truly believe that these two broke laws and deserve to be impeached. - Innova69, on 10/12/2007, -22/+54@hiredguns, You got that right. I don't live in VT, But I support their drive to rid our govt. of the profiteer administration.
- swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -15/+45I've said this many times, I am proud to be a Vermonter. Our senator Leahy has been raising hell, calling out the administration on torture and abuse of the patriot act, and he's chairman of the committee investigating AG Gonzales. 40 vermont counties passed calls for impeachment, and, holy *****, government on the state level actually listened to them and passed this resolution! Imagine if our national government actually worked in a democratic manner like that.
- drgnfly84, on 10/12/2007, -16/+37Way to go Vermont. Maybe I'll move there instead of Canada ....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21At least your name is accurate.
Buried for being an ignorant moron. - swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -9/+22http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movement_to_impeach_George_W._Bush#Rationales_for_impeachment

then again, if you actually cared and weren't just a troll, you would have done some research yourself. - addrake, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19The only thing that makes me happy reading the comments of you idiots is knowing you are too lazy to vote. See you in '08 jerkwads.
- spindrift, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Awesome. My only regret is that after the long list of offenses -- the PATRIOT Act, the WMD fiasco, the Iraq quagmire, Abu-Ghraib, misleading the American people, removing liberties, flipping off our international allies, piledriving our budget like Zangief, ad infinitum ad nauseum -- "justice" will only be served after more than 7/8s of the administration's term is complete. Almost seems sort of hollow to kick someone out the door once they're already started walking through it.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19"You can stop Bush, sure, but how can you do anything about Cheney-Rumsfeld 2008?"
By charging them with felonies (which we have more than enough evidence to convict them of) and putting them in prison? - swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12my only regret is that there is a significant percentage of the population that can't see the forest for the trees and continue to defend this administration based on minute legal technicalities that they most likely don't legitimately understand.
- drgnfly84, on 10/12/2007, -12/+21Four words: Weapons of Mass Destruction
The whole reason we're in this mess to begin with started the day Bush lied multiple times about WMD's so he could further propagate his own agenda. - nodong, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16Vermont is definitely better than Canada. Vermont is the only state in the country without any gun laws and they've also decriminalized reefer up to a point.
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"abusing the patriot act"
hah, the thing itself is abuse... - OoO3xOoO, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10@bigjimslade
When high level officials in our government say, "we know exactly where they are" and "there's NO DOUBT that Saddam has WMDS" among many other quotes, this shows that they weren't just following intelligence. Otherwise, they would say, "according to our intelligence..." rather than stating claims as facts.
It has been shown that evidence was fabricated in order to justify an invasion of Iraq. See "Downing Street Memo" and the attack on Joe Wilson. There is plenty of proof that they lied about WMDs, and knew about it. - jjesusfreak01, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Wow, it was nonbinding. I though Vermont had the power to impeach the US president.
- OoO3xOoO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7What was the purpose of the "Office of Special Plans?" To shape intelligence around the already planned invasion of iraq. They KNEW the intelligence was false, yet they proceeded anyways.
PNAC and all of these Straussians (neo-cons) have agenda's going back into the early 90s. This group of people used to be known as "the crazies" b/c they were so fu**ing insane and thought they could control the world at gunpoint. Since they have been in power, what has been the result? - smek2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Seriously, just do it. What else Bush, Cheney & co got to do for the majority to react. Those bastards deserve prison for life (my opinion)
- swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9the president does not need to be convicted of any crime to be impeached! again, i tell you, do some research! The reason wikipedia has questions as to legal status is because the page is constantly being edited by apologists such as yourself. Keep in mind that the Bush administration operates under an unprecedented shroud of secrecy. Given subpoenas and serious investigations, I have no doubt that every one of the allegations could be proven in a court of law, and merely looking at the public record provides compelling circumstancial evidence.
- kahakauai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8About goddamn time - Lets go California!
- d00ley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Montana is the state with balls. It just recently became the first state reject the Real ID outright. Montana's governor had this to say, "no, nope, no way, hell no" Tuesday to national driver's licenses, signing into law a bill supporters say is one of the strongest rejections to the federal plan."
http://www.billingsgazette.net/articles/2007/04/18/news/state/54-legiid.txt - n1zln, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Ditto swrostmore, I too am damn proud to be from Vermont. Leahy is getting the job done, and who in their right mind would want Bush in office until '08? Are we so quick to forget all the lives that have been LOST under his watch? Worst terrorist attack on US soil, now worst shooting massacre. More US soldiers have died in Iraq than citizens on 9-11. Vermont isn't radical, they are starting a movement that should have begun years ago. Clinton lied under oath and was centured. Look what Bush has done. It's time to bring some attention to this issue again.
- swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6things are pretty good in VT because the state Senate actuallys listen to the people who put them in office and take note of the dozens of resolutions in favor of impeachment passed by town legislatures. I dont think you can say the same for your sorry-ass state.
- SouthsideIrish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Vermont is OK, but it isn't the only state with balls. Maine turned down RealID, and Libertarians are trying to take over New Hampshire, so, hopefully upper New England is the place where the next American Revolution will start.
Anyway, I hate socialism, but I hope they are successful in the Second Vermont Republic. - laserblazer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Considering the Jeff Gannon scandal, I'd say more like a slinky teddy, a hairy bear and some well-packed fudge.
- laserblazer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Bush will make a new position - the Blame Czar. It turns out he's only in charge when something goes right (theoretically, since nothing in his administration has so far).
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5People here seem to want to be reminded on what crime the president has done...
Have you guys seriously been under a rock?
The wiretapping of millions of Americans alone is grounds for impeachment. That was a violation of our rights given to us by the constitution. Not to mention constant lieing to the American public and systematically destroying our constitutional rights such as free speech, free press, right to a fair trial and the right to not be given cruel and unusal punishment. This is about much more then a disagreement. This is about saving out rights and saving our country from a facist state and an embarrassing foreign policy.
George Bush is a traitor to America and the constitution and needs to be punished for his crimes. - rwinograd, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13If lying was impeachable all presidents/politicians would be out of office. Lying under oath, however, thats another thing since perjury is a crime.
Its amazing that the same people who stand up to not impeach Clinton (impeachment was a stupid idea for him) say that Bush should be impeached (which is just as stupid as an idea). - Firehed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@nodong - As a VT resident, I can say that marijuana most definitely hasn't been decriminalized in any sense. There's just a lot more people (percentage-wise) that support it. We also have gun laws, they're just a lot more sensible than other locations (there's a place about two miles from my house where I can buy a semi-auto AK for about $300; automatics, like everywhere else, are still illegal).
VT certainly has a few flaws, but it's one of few places in the nation that isn't totally screwed up politically. Which really makes having to move that much more painful. - growlzor, on 10/12/2007, -23/+27I swear there will be dancing in the streets if they get impeached. It will be marked as a new holiday, the second birth of our country
- okaroleo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6At this point i'll settle for non-binding impeachment.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@swrostmore:
Please read this:
http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/thepresidentandcabinet/a/impeachment.htm
While a simple majority vote in the House is enough to "impeach", an impeachment is like being indicted. The Senate still has to have a trial and it takes a two-thirds majority to convict. - swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hunter S. Thompson was investigating the Gannon scandal at the time of his "suicide"...
- Nocturnalis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6God I hope Chaney goes.
- KDX200rider, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12"Non binding"....complete waste of time and tax payer money.
- laserblazer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Realize that the rest of the world is going to want a piece of this administration. Your illusions of America as the capitol of the world will shatter soon, though much too late.
Saddam had his necktie party. Don't think it'll be the last. - swrostmore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I think you mean "no matter what you say, rabid apologists speak louder"
- crazydiode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@bigjimslade
"Care to show how we could have done this? Occupy Pakistan? " ROFLOL... correctly said... but no one would be able to "occupy" Waziristan.. even Musharraf doenst dare to go there... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton were both impeached. Both were acquitted in the Senate.
- bigjimslade, on 10/12/2007, -11/+14
"...we could have captured Bin Laden by now."
Care to show how we could have done this? Occupy Pakistan? - d00ley, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5"Ppl who complain about our tax system are egotisical fools."
What government services to we get for our federal income tax dollars? Can you name any? - wordfish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5us vermonters certainly cause a lot of noise for such a small state. Though I don't believe this will ever go through to any means, it's the message that counts. Next...is our succession.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's the smartest thing you've said today.
- buckrogers1965, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I agree. I agree so much that I quit my job and I am going to just live on savings until the war is over. ***** paying taxes to fund the army killing women and children. If enough of us did this we could easily bankrupt the feds.

I found the biggest problem with digg.. - implante, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4you'll like it here :)
- AnalogToadJuice, on 10/12/2007, -16/+18You can't think of it that way. Majority of the country and the world have stood up against the administration. It is a response to all the ***** the bush administration put us through since 911.
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks for the link, although it says:
"During deliberations over Nixon's impeachment, his unorthodox use of executive powers in ordering the bombings was considered as an article of impeachment, but the charge was dropped as not a violation of constitutional powers."
...and that he resigned before he could be impeached. Thanks for the link, though. -
