Wrong wrong wrong.
- The director of Central Intelligence said she was covert at the time of Novak's column, and that she had served on overseas missions in the preceding five year period.
- The committee introduced her covert status (and the CIA director's affirmation) in the opening statements. GOP members agreed on the validity.
- The Libby prosecutor said her status was classified at the time of Novak's column
- Plame testified under oath that she was covert.
So, either you're lying or misinformed. Which is it?
Either way, you're in no position to question anyone's credibility as you yourself are posting falsehoods. Valerie Plame was covert when she was outed by her own government. That is a fact. - edverb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12@RawShark
/////The agency will never confirm or deny if she was covert./////
They already have. General Hayden (CIA Director) has said that at the time of Novak's column: "Ms. Wilson was covert".
I think your skepticism is misplaced. Just realize this...every media zombie who's ever stated that Plame was NOT covert was either lying or talking out their backside. So maybe you should be questioning THEIR credibility. - piznut, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12You're going to need a new lie/talking point. Tune in to Hannity tonight to find out what it is!
It is an indisputable fact that her status with the CIA was covert. This has been hashed out through testimonies during the Libby trial and also will continue to be confirmed through the testimonies before congress.
FYI, this also has nothing to do with the civil case. RTFA. - dartbird, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9She is under oath and is probably telling the truth. On the other hand I "scooter" Libby was convicted of lying.
- edverb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8DCI General Hayden confirmed Plame's covert status for the committee. Waxman confirmed it with the CIA. The Libby trial underscored it, the prosecutor made it clear that her employment status was classified, and Plame herself testified under oath about her covert status and having performed secret overseas missions within the past five years.
All of which was cleared and confirmed by the CIA, and the GOP congressmen on the committee agreed.
Enjoy watching the zombie rightwingers pretend not to understand any of this. BRAAAAINS! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8That's funny, the CIA says she was under oath.
Really, it's only the GOP who are still lying about it, and the right wingers lap it up without a thought in their tiny heads. - MexiNig, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6James Knodell Director of Whitehouse Security is testifying now that THERE WAS NO INVESTIGATION by his office into the leak. Obviously this was supposed to happen, especially to investigate Roves security clearance.
- Euangelion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Just curious, how come none of you security minded libs care about what Sandy Burger stole and destroyed from the archives?
- farksucksmasack, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4TIP OF THE ICEBERG. Down tumbles the house of cards with nothing but jokers in the deck. This is gonna get UGLY and I CAN'T WAIT!!!
BUSHCO needs to GO GO GO!!! - Euangelion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"
Mind you she is sueing based on that so she would. She is also a democrat and a liar."
And so is Joe Wilson (a liar I mean). - Euangelion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I agree with you. If she was covert, let's prosecute Richard Armitage since he leaked her name. Why isn't he being prosecuted?
As for Sandy Burglar, we don't know what he took. It doesn't matter if someone was hurt or not. The former WHNSA is destroying and hiding SOMETHING just before he is set to testify. That's hardly trivial. - mattxb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@ Raw Shark
Maybe you don't think this administration did anything wrong, but they (i.e. Scooter Libby) DID think so, enough to lie about it to investigators, which is why he is going to jail (or being pardoned) - Loonacy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1There's been some investigation into what he took, and there's a lot of evidence that most if not all the things he took were copies, or things that had copies.
But ask yourself this: How many people's lives were put at risk because of Sandy Burger?
How many livelihoods were ruined because of Sandy Burger?
How much sensitive information was made public because of Sandy Burger?
Outing a CIA agent not only puts that agent at risk, it puts all agents who worked with that agent at risk, and ruins the front business that agent worked for. There's a very good reason agents remain in covert status for years after working covertly.
Now, I'm not saying what Sandy Burger did wasn't wrong, but it's on a whole different scale. And just how many of you "security minded conservatives" who keep bringing up Sandy Burger really care about how a covert CIA agent was outed? - ferrofluid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Look at the bloke wearing a wig, at the back in pink with the words 'impeach bush now' written on it.
Wonder if the TV will blur him out on their 10 second bites. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Rawshark:
>Even if she was technically covert (which the CIA will not confirm or deny, this is only her assertion), her being in the CIA was common knowledge inside the beltway. Rumor has it that Wilson would introduce her socially as "my CIA wife".
Even if that were true, and I highly doubt that it is (it fails the sniff test), whether someone works for the CIA has nothing to do with covert status. Even if he had said this, many people work for the CIA, and it would be fine to state this. - RawShark, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4Even if she was technically covert (which the CIA will not confirm or deny, this is only her assertion), her being in the CIA was common knowledge inside the beltway. Rumor has it that Wilson would introduce her socially as "my CIA wife".
Beyond rumor though, there are hard facts that Wilson himself outed his wife. According to Richard Armitage who the WaPo described as "a government official with no axe to grind" had this interview with Bob Woodrow:
Woodward: Well it was Joe Wilson who was sent by the agency, isn’t it?
Armitage: His wife works for the agency.
Woodward: Why doesn’t that come out? Why does that have to be a big secret?
Armitage: (over) Everybody knows it.
Woodward: Everyone knows?
Armitage: Yeah. And they know ’cause Joe Wilson’s been calling everybody.
That was 1 month before Novak's column that supposedly outed Plame. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+6So she says.
Mind you she is sueing based on that so she would. She is also a democrat and a liar. - RawShark, on 10/12/2007, -13/+3"Probably" telling the truth? No way to ever confirm this and she knows it. The agency will never confirm or deny if she was covert. She could be lying her ass of and you could never prove perjury.
